Same Deep Water (Steve Libby remix)

"I was listening to a Nick Warren Creamfields set (Yeah, I know not exactly The Cure), when he dropped this: The Cure-Same Deep Water As You (Steve Libby rmx). And if you're interested - Nick Warren's whole Creamfields Peru live set." (Thanks Barry)

  3. I'm sorry but this is too much of an emotional and heartfelt track that should have never been remixed in this way.

  4. andythecurefan, I agree with you that this song is heartfelt and emotional. At the very least, this may get you to re-appreciate the original.

As for me, I love this freaking mix. Please make this available! Valentine's present, maybe?

  6. This is so PUNK! He should have just stole the chords and make a new song out of it. This guy has some big balls! Never touch this song, unless you cover it, and if you dare, maybe arrange it a little differently (not that I would). This just sucks! What next? M Night Shyamalan redoes The Empire Strikes Back!? Just terrible.(hangs head in shame)

Sorry, I think I was channeling Dwight Schrute when I had typed this.

  7. hmm. need to think about it.

i don't hate it, but i love the original so much that it's hard for anything to give it justice.

    but it's not bad either.

  8. I can´t believe you guys....this is a superb track, magnificente and emotional remix, remember REMIX, of a huge song...and this remix shows that this guy love(love=feelings) electronic music and loves this track(the original). I hate every awful remix that dj's have try on cure tracks ( Mixed up is a complete disaster to me), but this track is totally respectfull with the original and personal at the same time. I've loved the cure for such a longtime, I'm so diehard fan as most of you (25 years...5 prayer tours in my background..you know what I'm talking about...) and this is one of my fave tracks of all times....I've been djing electronic music for along time also....and this is a must version, a great remix...If you can't get the feeling, I feel sorry for you guys....I'm sure that Bob is gonna love it.....

  10. Tackling a remix for The Same Deep Water as You is a massive undertaking...as writen above it is a huge Cure classic, very emotional and heartfelt...but i think the guy has done well..i feel he speeded up Robert's singing and that's a shame...it would have worked better had he slowed them right down...or actually removed them altogether and remix the track as an instrumental..I am also glad he stayed away from those big Eurotrash anthems remixes..electronically it's very good..

  11. It's not terrible, but it definitely lacks the weight and depth of the original. I like it in a superficial way ;D

  12. Hard-core Cure fan since '84. Love(!) the original and it came out at an emotional time in my life. With that said, it's nice to hear a different take on it. I like it a lot. It's a vacation from the emotions of the original, which is ok. When I want the real deal, I have the original, when I want to drive with a beat and a good Cure song, I can listen to the remix. The original is sacred, but the remix is just a song - no harm done and it must have taken a long time to get right. Good job SL. I'm glad it exists.

  14. "Never touch this song, unless you cover it"

Well, as this track is completely reprogrammed (with the vocals and some sample chord from the original strewn in), technically this -is- a cover, not a remix...

  15. It's not bad. I'd play it on the radio, but probably not at a dance party unless it was requested by multiple people.

  16. The chord progression is just mesmerizing. I'm always playing it on my guitar. This guy was just having fun. I thought it was an interesting interpretation.
