Off to tour the universe...

...be back on Monday night. I'll try and update from the road if I can. And if it's important. : )

Update 4: So here are our photos from Red Rocks, Dallas, and Houston/The Woodlands. And our videos of Jezebel, Home, and Somebody (all at Red Rocks), Judas (in Dallas), and Little Soul and Question of Lust (in Houston/The Woodlands). Thanks so much to everyone who wished us well. We truly appreciated it. Now back to Cure boredom. : ) We need a Cure world tour asap. : )

Update 3: Hard to really judge Houston, as V and I were a bit further back and to the side for this one, so I'm not sure if we were just spoiled by our previous seats, or if this show was just a bit less energetic. The band seemed a bit less into it than in Dallas and Red Rocks, and Dave & Martin didn't interact quite as much, but it was still a great show, and we got two of the Martin songs that we had missed up until now (Little Soul and Question of Lust, but still missed out on Shake The Disease). So overall, we had fun, but after the incredible Dallas show, this was a slight let down. So now our tour is over, and just as with Cure tours, we were thinking about how to squeeze in a few more shows. Doesn't look like it will happen, though. At least not in the US. : )
Thank you again, V. You're the most wonderful girl in this universe. I love you so much.

Update 2: Damn! Dallas was an awesome crowd! And DM were on fire. I think this show might have been even better than Red Rocks. Once again, V and I had amazing seats - 4th row, dead center. And Martin did Judas for the first time on the entire tour, and screwed up the intro and had to start it over. : ) I really am blown away by how good these shows have been, and how much more of a band they seem to be these days. The interaction between Martin and Dave is priceless. And if you're going to one of the upcoming shows, pay attention to Fletch. He's got some "incredible" moves on this tour, including eating on stage during songs. : ) And Peter, Bjorn and John are very good, too. Anyway, just having an incredible time with V and DM. Does this really have to end? "Always have to go back to real lives, where we belong."

Update: The Red Rocks show was fantastic! DM put on a brilliant show, so much better than the last time I saw them, which was in 2001. V and I had a great time, and had excellent seats - 4th row, dead center! I still can't believe I've finally been to a concert at Red Rocks, which is the most beautiful venue I've ever seen. Thank you, V, for making dreams come true! : ) You rock even more than Martin. ; )

  1. Here is hoping they actually play for you. The Oakland CA show was very suckily canceled the night before. The wife was very angry! Especially since the boy and I still got to see Green Day the following week.

  11. Something out of this topic:

The Official Forum @ thecure.com is currently closed.

Anybody has an idea of what happened ?

Is this a sign of major news coming soon ?

The confirmation of the breakup of CURE and TMU ?

    .....

  13. Just an awesome show at Red Rocks. I hope you were there Craig and enjoyed our venue. Set was way too short. It was exactly 2 hours.

  14. MadbobRJS: They've closed it no doubt to get rid of all the complete and utter bollocks that people have been putting on there..
However if you ARE right and it IS a sign that there is some real news coming, then I'm pretty excited!!

Xuan: Yes, I was there. Amazing venue and an awesome show. But like you said, way too short. The show just flew by.

  17. So why DM and not the Cure Craig? Is your cover blown after all these years? At least the Cure would have given you value for money with a nice long set list!!!!

  18. So glad you had fun Craig! I have a little over 24 hours until I see them! OMG! I can't wait!

  24. Glad you had a good time. I just saw them in SLC on Tuesday, and although I think Dave was still on the mend, it was a great show, and Martin was in great form. Fletch was an awesome clapper and keyboard man as well. :) My 6th show for them. So jealous about the beautiful venue! :) - Cambria

  26. Craig, it's so good to know that you and V are out there having a wonderful time together! :D

  27. 'eating on stage'

I stand corrected. Fletch DOES do stuff on stage.

Can't wait for the Atlanta show!!!! I hope The Truth Is / Miles Away remains.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Fletch has been eating bananas.

I'm so happy for you and V to finally get to go to amazing shows and have awesome seats! You deserve it! I agree. DM is getting better and better live. Definitely better than last tour. Martin is just amazing.

  29. How do you think to talk about THE CURE!
Depeche Mode is sooo uninteresting since the ultra album and the singles tour 1998.Boring and dead with a lot of fans worldwide.
the tour of the universe is so foreseeable.Fuck! Enjoy the silence, never let me d...i can´t hear it anymore. Sorry Dave, Martin and Fletch but you are nothing without Alan!!! that´s my opinion. A big sorry to all the guys they disagree incl.craig (god bless you).
    THE Cure is 30!
    what´s wrong this time.
no news, no rumours, no album,no deluxe editions no concerts....for weeks and weeks and weeks.what´s wrong?
sorry i am a cure fan...and the DM place is an other.sorry craig

    ReplyDelete
  30. did you clap along with fletch ???-lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. Boring and dead worldwide? Apparently, you haven't paid attention to the sell-out shows worldwide or have been to a recent show. This is Craig's site with a small post about another band (who happens to have people working for them that were on the Cure tour). If he has fun at another show, so what. Nothing is going on with the Cure right now.

  33. LOL lisa!!

ANDY EATS ON STAGE?? say what?!

  34. I was there last night at Superpages. So close to you, and I didn't even know it. I was 7th row, stage left. Great show, but not enough from the early 80s in my middle-aged opinion. Leaving the parking lot took almost as long as the show.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ckone, yeah hi. um...dont know if you know this, but craig has ZERO control over the nothing that is going on with the cure right now.
we're ALL here because we love the cure and want updates, but nothing is going on. end of.
i suggest you write directly to the band so they can ignore it and keep doing whatever they want.

  36. "V and I" That's cute :)

You know what Robert's favourite Instrument is ??

The tender base VI !! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. OMG Craig I was close to you guys too! My boyfriend and I were in row C seats 7 & 8! It was an incredible show. Someone should have given Fletch some pom poms! He was like the DM cheerleader! LOL!

  38. CKONE - Sadly Robert often leaves us hanging - it's just the way it is. Remember the last album? All of the delays? We usually have to wait 4 years between albums (and tours) It's just the way it is.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Glad you're having fun, Craig!

    ReplyDelete
  40. 4:13 Dream was brilliant so I have no problem with Bob and the boys taking a break. But go ahead and release the remasters, please? Oh - and the dark album too!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Craig, thanks so much for posting the videos. LOVED them! SO jealous that we didn't get "Somebody" in NYC. It was beautiful! *Sigh* Martin . . . LOL. I am a lurker here on COF on a regular basis but couldn't resist posting this time . . . :) Glad you had fun on your Tour of the Universe!

  42. Went to the Houston show. It was so great. You are right they were on fire. The crowd was very into the show. Very high energy!! I Love it!

  45. Hmmm.... last time I checked, this blog spot belonged to Craig, to do with as he sees fit, and that means he can put wtf he wants in this area!

Craig, dear, so glad to know that you and your beloved v are having an interval of magic and rainbows and dreams-come-true in the wonderful world of DM! <3 from Florida!

@dj: Sweetie, our mutual friend did not reply to my email. Do you know if she is well? :-*

@anybody out there who is 'in the know': If it's not an international secret, can we please be told if the band are happy and in good health?

    ReplyDelete
  46. To clarify, when I say 'the band', I am of course referring to The Cure. ;-)

  53. Craig and V: so happy that you two got to see some great shows. I was at the red rocks one, pretty close to you actually- 9th row and I was totally dying when Fletch started eating... but my favorite is when he was spraying off on himself during a song :D I was cracking up!!! I guess when you arent moving a whole lot, bugs think you would make a great place to land....

Anyway- great show... I'd send you my pics, but yours are better.

Thanks for everything that you do...

  54. Saw the Atlanta show. I was row R, so that’s approximately 15 or 16 rows from the stage - perfect view of the entire stage but still close enough to see facial expressions.

I gotta hand it to them, they WERE on fire. I can't believe how good they were.

They played SOMEBODY and my wife lost it. I also got to hear TRUTH IS / MILES and seemed to be the only one enjoying it!?!

    Thanks, DM.

PS - I paid no attention to FLETCH so I can't report any hilarities. Sorry.

  55. KentButabi: We seemed to have the same problem with Miles Away / The Truth Is at the Dallas show. It's ok, I think I sang loud enough for everyone! Love that song!

  56. Dude I was at red rocks 4th row dead center...I was in seat 49 and my wife in 50, what number were your seats? Please tell me you were not with the pot smoking seat crashing idiots to my left :D

  57. God, damn it.

I´m here at home, drowned with tons of college homework , tests and everything else and, less than a half mile is playing Depeche Mode and i´m listening the show for "free".

    I wish to be there.

    It´s so sad....

    :(
