Chartattack reviews Just Like Heaven: A Tribute to The Cure, and gives it 4/5.

Update: The Washington Post Express also has a review of the cd.

  1. So many great tribute songs this year for THE BAND. Much respect by some well-deserving lil bands.

  2. Anyone's got a track listing? Is it only on itunes? Or is there some physical copy available...?

  4. I like the treatment some artists give to certain songs, but to me they all miss something: Robert's voice. Any Cure song doesn't sound the same without that element.

I have 7 or 8 tribute CD's in my collection, and they all have interesting stuff.

  5. I thought that the In Between Days cover sucked balls, and the Let's Go to Bed cover wasn't that good either. There were a lot of good covers, like the Lovesong or 10:15 cover, but the two tracks that review listed were pretty lame. Maybe they meant they were standouts because they were really terrible. If that's the case then I think that was a great review. I give that review a 3.5/5 stars.

  6. I think that The Poems did a sweet cover of 10:15...the cover of Pictures was nice sounding too.

  7. LoveCats sounds great.

I may pick this up. My main problem is the lack of newer material. Nothing goes past Wish.

  8. I'm lovin the catch cover....some of the others suck and some are alright...

  9. I'm a bit tired myself of always seeing the same songs being covered again and again.
    Nobody dares anymore?

I suspect the release companies responsible for these kind of albums are always pushing for the greatest hits compilation anyway, as if tribute albums would be destined for the casual listener (and not the hardcore fan)...

  13. Now that Washington Post review was right on I think. This reviewer sounded like he knew a thing or two about a thing or two.
