"We wanted to have a COF Peeps meetup while we were there in London, and in order not to compete with the Cureconnections meetup we talked it over a bit in email and decided to have the gathering on Weds. Feb. 25th starting at 2 pm at the Beehive Pub in Brixton, right near the Brixton Academy where the awards ceremony for the Godlike Genius award is being held."

Woot!!!!! I will be there!
ReplyDeleteThe Beehive will be buzzing with COFers!
ReplyDeleteIm not really a COFer but check up often ( oh ,i sometimes leave drunken rambleings on the Cure website at 2 in the morning stateing how good the cure is after making mates watch plainsong on Trilogy for the 1000th time..does that count ? ) ...are all Cure fans welcome for a beer or ten ? I live round the corner.
ReplyDeleteWoof - You would be welcomed with open arms! The more the merrier.
ReplyDeleteBesides, any Cure fan is a friend of mine!
Elise! I am so excited for you, chickie!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate. It is a shame you can't be there, but I will have a drink for you :)
ReplyDeleteyou guys have a blast! I can't wait to hear stories!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks for posting the announcement, Craig!
ReplyDeleteI have a favor to ask, if you would? Could you please put a link to this thread in the side bar so it won't get buried in the posts? Like you did for the NYC meetup?
Any peeps who are planning on meeting us there, PLEASE give an RSVP here so I'll have a "head count" estimate for the pub as we get closer to the day.
See you all VERY SOON!!!
Woof, ALL Cure fans are welcome! Please feel free to drop by!
ReplyDeleteOh and Woof, since you're a local, how's the Beehive for a meet like this? We looked at pubs closest to the venue and the tube, so this one seemed to fit the bill. Any local expertise or recommendations would be welcome!
ReplyDeleteFor the "head-count"
ReplyDeleteI will be there :o)
Finally a London drinks that I can go to. Cant wait to meet you all!!!
ReplyDeleteYAYYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!
ReplyDeleteI'll be there!!
ReplyDeleteOh Bee
ReplyDeleteHIVE!
Aww, I hope you all have a great time. Have a drink for me.
ReplyDeleteIs everyone goin to the ceremony? I could maybe take the train down for a few drinks :)
ReplyDeleteGot two tickets for Brixton. See you in the Beehive!
ReplyDeleteAwe. I wish I could make the London gig. =( You guys have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteHooligal, AFAIK the tickets to the ceremony are not available to the public.
ReplyDeleteHelp, so you have tickets to the awards ceremony? May I ask how you got them?
They put 100 tickets on sale to the public at noon today. Standing ones too! Only gonna be a half hour set, but the tickets were only £10.
ReplyDeleteHelp, that's AWESOME!! I'm glad you got tix, but very envious too LOL!!
ReplyDeleteSo Hooligal, please ignore my uninformed comment about tix not being available to the public ;p
So you guys all get to see them two nights in a row. That is soooo flipping awesome! Have soooo much fun! I will just have to wait until April. Hopefully Robert does something for his Birthday in L.A.
ReplyDeleteHello Heron and all,
ReplyDeleteI can't do the 25th but will be at the O2 on 26th. Has anyone done their homework on the place yet? It would be good to meet up on the way in and form a COF crowd down at the front near the stage!!!
Robert - we are defintely intending to get to O2 early to ensure we are at the front.
ReplyDeleteRev - I have been searching for tickets to the Awards night - but I a a big FAIL at this point :(

altr2elise,
ReplyDeleteNearer the time we will need to make some COF arrangements - all wear something distinctive perhaps - black maybe (hahaha!) Seriously, want to meet up with you all in person if possible. How early do you call early?
Robert,
ReplyDeleteI am not sure of the plans yet. I'd suspect we will wait until we are all in the same country to start making decisions. Drop me an email (the address is on my profile), and I will make sure we keep you informed.
Elise

"SATURDAY 21ST FEB - CURE NIGHT!
Wear yer face white, The Cure are back in town! To celebrate, Feeling Gloomy will be playing lots of lovely tunes by them in amongst the usual Gloomy bangers. Expect Friday I'm In Love, Love Cats and Pictures of You. Don't expect... Dancing Queen!"
HEY YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI'LL BE THERE IN LONDON...
BUT...WE COULD JOIN WITH THECURE.COM FANS TOO!
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT???
I got a ticket to the awards ceremony, yayy! So I will come and have a drink with you guys :)
ReplyDeleteFor the head count again. I have a ticket for the ceremony :o)))
ReplyDeleteso I am not sure if there will be enough time to have a drink with you.
Several of us have since managed to get ticket to the awards ceremony as well--so the pub thing may be a little up in the air at this point! Maybe afterwards??
ReplyDeleteI am sure that there will be enough peeps who either don't have tickets, or would rather socialize with other peeps to keep the plans the same. Either way, a lot will depend on the award show schedule. I don't know if filming will take place in real time or not, London peeps, any insight on this? Anyone ever been to one of these before?
ReplyDeleteI meant to add, if enough people have tickets to the ceremony, we can also start the meet earlier in the day, or conversely, have our own afterparty.

Thank you Jubline!! We were able to get a few more tickets just now. Pints coming your way if we meet you!
ReplyDeleteRegina! I am so happy that you got some. Hopefully some of the others will read this too and find that there are still some available!
ReplyDeleteFancy meeting up before for a drink? (No drinks needed - was only kidding!) - We would love to meet some fellow COF-ers!
x
I think if the official meetup at the Beehive gets organized for sure we'll all be there. It's just hard to know when now that so many are going to the awards!
ReplyDeleteSome of us are flying in the same day (arriving around noon) so the jet lag factor should make us all rather entertaining.
Oh blimey! Jet lag and then the wonders of the local pubs in Brixton - should make for a fun night!
ReplyDeleteWe are getting the train in from Nottingham so no Jet Lag for us, will see you there hopefully!
xxx
Hi Jubline,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about the award show tix and the schedule. I think that your suggestion to meet up starting at 4 pm is excellent, but maybe we should push it back another hour or two in order to allow for a bit more leeway? If it starts at 6, that only gives 2 hours to socialize prior to the event and you know people will want to line up early to get good seats / standing places.
What do you all think about starting our gathering at 2 pm? Then we can meet everyone and still have plenty of time to line up.
2:00pm is great! Any excuse for early doors!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited!!!!!!!!
xxx
We'll be there as soon as we get showered and spiffed up, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteKnowing the public transport in this country, you will be over your jet lag before our train gets in! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to meeting you all there.
xxx
Ticket arrrived, so you have to be there between 6.30-7.00 if standing. Lettter says due to filming standing tickets will NOT BE ALLOWED INTO VENUE AFTER 7.00pm. Don't be late.
ReplyDeleteare people still going to the beehive at 2 , friends arent coming until 5ish as working , I fancy an early start! should i walk into the pub with a sign saying THE CURE like taxi drivers have at the airport ?
ReplyDeleteo2 tickets - the real ones - are now with us! We are not going to be about on 25th but would love to meet up in/around the 02 on Thurs. No idea about when we might need to start queueing to ensure up fromt viewing and our tix are Door D. Can someone post COF plans on here....?
