  7. EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

    RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. "Right before Bob's bday. Very cool"

That makes me think about that dark album that contractually can only be released 6 months and a day after 4:13 dream. Just thinking...

    ReplyDelete
  9. My birthday!! That's so sweet of them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. I really desperately hope for more dates this summer (preferably some in eastern US or Canada or even in the UK) cause I'd really love to start planning a trip and Coachella is 99% out for me :(

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hmm... The Cure with Yeah Yeah Yeahs... Sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Do the single-day passes for Coachella usually sell out quickly? Anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  13. ok - so is this going to be around the same time that the curse is playing RSx's bday show?

    like - same weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  14. im in the same boat as you kittyboo.

    outta mula
    hate the desert

but if the curse is playing that same weekend...hmmmm

i dunno. im on the fence.

    r u a definite NO cat?

    ReplyDelete
  15. deejy!!!!

i know sweetie - i feel the same way!!

i just stressed out when i got the text from tina and sara this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  16. KATE!!! :)

*jumps up and down and waves!!*

    ReplyDelete
  17. oh the poor curse. they certainly live up to their name. perhaps they shouldn't schedule shows around important dates :/

kate - i havent seen you in FOREVER.

they are always so close and so far away.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Haaaa! I Love it! What a great surpirise!

    ReplyDelete
  19. chris-boo, i am NEVER a definite no.

i have no moolah! and NO time off!

i HATED coachella 04 because of the heat, the drunk kids, etc. etc. etc. - but the CURE made up for it

and freakin' PUBLIC ENEMY!!!!!!!! is going to play on the same nite!

and then COHEN and OBERST and BLOODY VALENTINE

never say never, but i'm supposed to go to portugal this summer, sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    ReplyDelete
  20. ...And I'm not going. Same reason I never went to Coachella when I lived in San Diego... I can't deal with the heat, *especially at festivals.

And lets just hope they don't party too hard for three days and then try to put on a show.

Robert: Do the right thing! LOL <3

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey there, dj! How are you doing?

    (logging on to meebo)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kate - Im good. we just came back from winter break and now i cant wait for spring break! :D how are things with you and yo hubby? he should be proud to know that the picture that he took of me and porl at RCMH is proudly displyed here at school! kids are all - who the hell is that??? LOL! so i educate them as i should! (why, child, that is the best guitarist ON THE PLANET!!) :D i already have more budding cure fans!!!

CAT!!!!!!! why must the cure play such a horrid venue??? (Visions from Austin Music Hall abound) arent they opposed to heat as well? im sure RSx hates it!

but maybe april wont be that hot???

    ReplyDelete
  23. Chris - I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. That is very funny about the photograph in the classroom. We are doing great - DC is finally calming down after last week's festivities, and this week's snow and ice!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Kate and Christina!

It will be grossly hot, even in April. But if you've never been and can go, you should do it. Just book your hotel now! And bring a sedative to deal with the drunk crowds ;)

And I Love that you have a picture of you and Porl in your class!

    ReplyDelete
  25. What the hell....are they going on sale at 9am today?!!!

AARRGGHH!!!!!!!!! I AM SOOOO GOING!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS....IT'S A CURE WONDERLAND THAT WE LIVE IN!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anah, soul sistah, i miss you terribly!

chris freakin' BOO, i have no CLUE why they freakin' play freakin' HOT venues! and RSX was quoted as saying he hated the heat at Coachella, so WTFABLES!!!!!!!!!

but PUBLIC ENEMY AND BLOODY VALENTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    freakin' DAMMIT

chris, i LOVE that you have a pic of you and Porl in your classroom. LURVE THAT - you are CURE AMBASSADOR for the YOUTH!

and sorry to say, but april in the cali desert is VERY FUCKING HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

    never say never. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes! Yes! Yes!
    I love it!
    I can't wait!
    I am sooo excited!

Cureheart: You were like right on! Two thumbs up!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cat: Even though he hates it, maybe it will be the jump off point for a new tour?

    ReplyDelete
  29. 2004 was my first year going to Coachella, mostly because of The Cure and Radiohead. I've since gone back 3 of the last 4 years. Amazing festival. I sadly can't make it this year.

Single day tickets will sell out, probably TODAY. They are always limited quantities, unless something drastically changes this year. The festival is usually promoted more as a multi-day event and so they prefer to sell 3-day passes. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

    ReplyDelete
  30. (((((ANAH!!))))
    (((((KEL!!))))

oh lord...so what do we do cat?

like joe s said - do you think this is a warm up show? they cant possibly be starting the wishful thinking tour already can they?

surely not just one show...right? we need more info people!!

ok...i need to run...we are having an elective fair today in the gym so i gotta run and advertise for my class! hopefully ill have more of the elective class next year and less of the core class! yay electives!

and i also have pics of RSx from the austin show in my room too! the ones of him smiling at me! :D

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have another thought...

If I recall correctly, it was stated that any album to be released after 4:13 Dream would have to wait at least six months.

Didn't we calculate that six months would make it this April? Could this be part of a promo tour!?

    Am I crazy?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I AM GOING THIS IS GOING TO BE INSANE.

On a more dreamy note, could this mean there's going to be a Cure/MBV co-headline tour? Think about it people.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wishful Thinking Tour 2009. It's going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i highly doubt that the tix will SELL OUT, per se, but if so then i ain't goin' cuz i can't buy one right now

    dammit

but i am still not ruling it out - that line up is too freakin' SUWEET
and i am sure we can get tix somehow

i might be getting bday money in march, and if not then i'll pimp out my boyfriend :-P

    ReplyDelete
  35. There is a layaway plan for Coachella tickets. It's the 10th anniversary so it was supposed to be a big deal (and it is!)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Got my ticket.....sunday is a good line up! x, MBV, isnt PB&J playing sunday too?
see you there cof freaks :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I got my Ticket! Woo Hoo!
This is sooooo great! Now I don't have to be too hurt about missing the Big Gig!

So whose staying where? Anyone camping out?

    Yay!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Who has yahoo messenger or the equivalent?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I booked my hotel in December. I had heard they were playing and immediately booked. I also heard Depeche was playing; not sure what happened there.

    Yeah!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Me and the mister will be there! :D He's stoked to get another Cure concert so soon, since he is missing the Big Gig.

YAY for the CURE!!! And let the wild speculation flow about the Dark Album, baby! Sounds like Robert wanted to spend his 50th birthday in LA, I wonder why?!!!

I'm not too worried about tix, Cat, since it's an all-GA show. I'm sure there will be some available in March and April.

I can't wait to see my CoF peeps that can't come to London again so soon!!

CRAIG!! Are you going to come out for this???

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yay Rev!
I bit the bullet and did it. See you peeps there!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Haha. The Cure take top billing on Sunday while Morrissey only takes second on Friday.

In my nutty little world that means The Cure are better than Morrissey once and for all.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  44. miss regina-boo!!!

    now i HAVE to go!!!

i simply cant miss out on meeting you AGAIN!!!

*checks savings account and credit limits*

    ReplyDelete
  45. OMG Chris go! Regina did you get tix for the whole weekend???

    Or just Sunday??

I want to see Friday and Sunday especially, but I can't take two sick days

So fuck it. I'm going. I'm getting tix. Somehow I will afford it. Boyfriend will pimp for me or I will get March birthday moolah. Or I will sell crack.

    Yuppers.

REGINA WHAT DAYS ARE YoU GOING?

    CHRIS BOOO GO!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. We're going to Sunday for sure, got reservations at the hotel already!!
    YAY Curepeeps!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wonder where RS will be staying at...

    ReplyDelete
  48. REV WTF! that was FAST!!!

    you're doing sunday only??

saturday doesn't sound as appealing to me

i might hate myself for this

i hate the desert but i love public enemy!!!!! oh yeah, and the cure.

plus i was alone last time. not that i care but it's more fun with PEEPS

    OMFGAWD

    ReplyDelete
  49. Cat, if you want a hotel room you need to book NOW. All the cheap rooms are already full! I went with full rack rate at the Homewood Suites, mainly because I didn't have to pay in advance or put a deposit in, you can just reserve with a CC#. It's way cheaper to book thru hotels.com or prepay, but I don't have the extra $$ due to going to London!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Cureheart, I should have booked my hotel when you did...
    AWWWWW what was I thinking???

Yeesh, now to figure out if I should camp there, should take a trailer to some designated rv site close by or get a hotel!

    ReplyDelete
  51. If you are planning to go to only one day of the festival, buy your tickets NOW. While the capacity for the festival is about 60,000 per day, about 50,000 of those admissions are allocated to 3-day passes.

So if you don't want to buy a three day pass, buy your ticket asap.

    See you all there!

    ReplyDelete
  52. rev, you're making me nervous

i don't have time to do this right now

PUBLIC ENEMY AND MY BLOODY VALENTINE

    ReplyDelete
  53. come one chris and cat!!! Im buying two tickets bc I know someone is going to want to go and I dont know how fast they sell out!! AND if this is the place i think it is there is an indian reserve with casinos that let 18 year olds gamble!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  54. word of mouth is that saturday and sunday will def sell out this year....just what i saw on some forums

    ReplyDelete
  55. other people are saying they WONT sell out...i guess well see but im buying 2 tix now just in case so for anyone decides to go *cough chris and cat cough* *cough AND DEEJ* (just get cavities deej! LOL )

    ReplyDelete
  56. DJ, you are GOING

    PERIOD

    IMMA KIDNAP YO ASS

    I didn't say that

    (honest i won't)

    ReplyDelete
  57. It's quite Casino City around there.

    ReplyDelete
  58. got my sunday tic

i hope i can find a decent flite

    CHRIS BOO JUST GO

rev can i sleep on yer floor?

    just kidding

i can find a dump somewhere... a motel dump not a dumpster

    DOH

    ReplyDelete
  59. please follow this up with some other shows in the area. I told myself I would never go to Coachella again. and here I am going to Coachella again. F@*%!

    ReplyDelete
  60. They almost ALWAYS have a huge act announced right beforehand. Prince was last time.

    ReplyDelete
  61. What sucks is that there are always two bands are you dying to see playing at the same time on different stages.

    ReplyDelete
  62. brandon, ME TOO! LOL. i hate the desert. HATE IT. but the cure made all the misery worthwile in 04.

and dammit - Public Freakin ENEMY and Bloody Valentine AND CUREYNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

i would LOVE to see Friday but i just can't afford the time from work or the hotel for that long

    ReplyDelete
  63. prince freakin OWNS MY ASS

SO NO ONE ELSE CARES ABOUT PUBLIC ENEMY???

    THEIR NEW ALBUM RULZ

gawd i wish i could see friday though!

    CHRIS BOO YOU ARE GOING

    ReplyDelete
  64. Per Rolling Stone, rumors are the last minute announcement will be Bruce Springsteen Saturday night.

He is in the LA area that weekend and has a 6 day break in his tour schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  65. you guys get the cure my bloody valentine and throbbing gristle on the same bill .. we get crysal castles and the lik e... im moving over there

    ReplyDelete
  66. Okay, so I totally forgot I had $250 sitting in a "giftaccount" to use for AACX tickets that I didn't end up using!! So HELL to the YEAH baby we have TIX! See you there!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think what Cat is trying to say is that she loves Public Enemy.

    ...and My Bloody Valentine.

(by the way I'm going to watch the original movie this week-end, that's got nothing to do with this topic whatsoever.)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Let me be clear.

Single day tickets will sell out quickly. They always do.

Three day passes rarely sell out until the week before the concert, if at all.

    ReplyDelete
  69. i don't get paid yet, but single day Sunday tix are on my mind, however i might just do that layaway plan to get the 3 day if the 1 day sunday sells out, plus you gotta love some Moz.

    :D

everyday is like sunday...everyday is silent and gray.

i shall see you COFers there. i'm the first one to comment and no one says anything about meeting up with andy... :(

    ReplyDelete
  70. lol andy!

its a given that you will be with us!

    u is muh andy-boo!!

    (thats if i DO go!)

    :)

    *still rationalizing!*

    ReplyDelete
  71. Andy,
Just layaway the three day ticket. There is an option to only put 10% down and ticketmaster fees right now. Then when it gets closer and you get the tickets you can sell the Saturday one and the Friday one also if you wanted to. I will be there so we will definitely hang out. Where are you staying if you go?

    ReplyDelete
  72. MissCure, that's what i'm thinking of doing, and i'd definitely camp out. it is THEE Coachella experience.

and i went by myself for Interpol in '07, you bet your asses i'll be there for The Cure.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm not sure if I am going to camp out just yet. I am thinking I might take like a toy hauler or something. I hear they have a lot of rv camping sites nearby. Either that or I am camping. Not sure if I can do a hotel they are pricey.

    ReplyDelete
  74. andy, it's a GIVEN that we will see you there. DOH! of course we love you dearly. :-)

cureheart, i thought about that regarding PE. fuck it - i'm seeing PE no matter WHAT! i want to see the cure close so hopefully i still can if PE is on a diff stage, but i have already seen the cure at the secret show up waaaaay close and so if i have to forego a bit of curey closeness to see PE i will. last time i saw PE was eighty-freakin'- NINE.

    ReplyDelete
  75. chris, what is there to rationalize? life is too short and precious to rationalize crap. life is about adventure... and cureyness. :-)

and i said never again... lawl

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ouch... if only I could come transatlantic for this one... maybe I could swing a work trip...

hey ho - see you at the O2!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. *agrees with cat* Chris you have to GRAB LIFE BY THE BALLS AND NEVER LET GO! you only live once! :D

    ReplyDelete
  78. that's spoken like a truly sprightly youth, sara! good going, girlfriend!

you can grab life by the ovaries too.. from what i understand life is not just a boy

    ReplyDelete
  79. I am so excited that all my Cure Peeps will get to see our boys again so soon.

*sends good vibes to the universes for a lotto win*

    ReplyDelete
  80. greyhound from LA to indio is only 25 each way....im reallllly considering doing that.... bahhh its cheaper than renting a car

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'll go if Craig goes....otherwise been there done that, Coachella 2004 and Curiosa 2005 were the 2 worst Cure shows I ever saw. Add that to the drugs, booze and heat and a bunch of bands my old butt has never heard of and it is a pass. However, if the all mighty Parker shows, well...never say never. Seriously looking at the line up every year I only go if I can find 5 bands on 1 day I would go see anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Oh my am I excited!
    Birthday present to me!!

There are always pre-show warm up shows at the Glass House in Pomona.

I am going to start hydrating and conditioning now for the heat!!!

'04 I ended up sleeping in my car, this year a Hotel! Yeah!!!

I also found my ear plugs for MBV. The Santa Monica shows were amazing, I hope they aren't on at the same time as The Cure. Cause no one will be able to hear the Cure if they are!!!

Can't wait to meet some of you after lurking here for so long!!

    Whooooo!!!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Definitely going to be there! :^D

    ReplyDelete
  84. The info is up now on the www.thecure.com also.

Coachella will be held on April 19th

so,this would mean that, will RSX have his 50th b-day on U.S.A ?

    :O

    ???

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yay, yay! Wheee! *jumps around* Yessss!!!! I am so excited about this! :^D

    ReplyDelete
  86. It´s so good to see CURE will be playing so far 2 dates this year, maybe they´ll do a festivals tour this summer including the rumored Werchter fest as they´ve done several times before.

And better news if they will launch a large-scale tour around the world celebrating the 30th anniversary, Robert´s 50th bday and maybe the "Dark Album"...

Have I the right to dream, isn´t it ?

    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  87. hey, if anyone needs a ride and is on my way, i think i am going to do a drive from Portland to Indio...with gas so cheap, it will be less than a plane ticket and much more fun!

    ReplyDelete
  88. i got my ticket, i am ready to rock!

    ReplyDelete
  89. ...i was late for this bit of news.

    WOW!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Well I'm jealous of all you lucky ducks who are going to this thing!

Just started a new job so there's no way I'll get time off to go. But I'll be here on concert night waiting for the play list chat! :)

    ReplyDelete
  91. So, if Robert is spending his 50th here, Mary will be here too. I just think there will be more dates than this. Rationally, not wishful thinking here. They've already played Coachella, so IT JUST SEEMS VERY LIKELY.

"Friend Of COF": Any clues? ;)

...And does anyone remember the days when Robert wouldn't fly? Remember when they took the QE2 for The Prayer Tour?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I just left Amoeba records (Franz Ferdinand did a in-store free show which was cool dancing in the isles of CDs and vinyls) and they were passing out flyers for Coachella and when I heard "see The Cure," I had the biggest smile on my face.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Tim, I will be in COF to chat with you!

I may even switch my day off so I can give my full attention to COF - rather than pretending to work.

    ReplyDelete
  94. we going to have a coachella meet up?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Mad Bob - excellent point. i have Werchter is a go.

and Debi, i was at Amoeba too. and when i saw people getting the Coachella flyers and saying "oh shit! the cure is gonna be there!" i got all giddy as well.

sara - i think i'll greyhound it to Indio from LA as well. thinking of camping?

    ReplyDelete
  96. sara, why not just fly into palm springs as regina suggested?

    ReplyDelete
  97. cat- its cheapest to fly to LAX but the greyhound price might make up the difference....i dont know yet....

andy- if I go friday I will probably camp out because ill be by myself but I really would like to go friday its just a matter of getting the money together. I dont care too much for going saturday though...not enough bands I know especially not for 120 bucks

    ReplyDelete
  98. Me too Morris! Holy Christ. This is what I get for not checking COF for a week… I wasn't expecting this!

Anah- that's what I was thinking... it looks as though they may be gearing up for a "proper tour"; I can't believe Robert's going to be HERE for his b-day?!! So much for "We weren't planning on touring again for awhile". <333333333333333333
I hope we get a "Dark Tour" in our near future! I hope they can make it to the East Coast soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an awesome fucking year this is turning out to be....

    THE CURE PWNS EVERYONE'S ASS

    ReplyDelete
  99. holy crapppppp!

my friends and i decided if we all save up enough money we're road tripping from VA to cali for this.

    YES!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Sure *seems* like a good chance there would / could be other shows - especially if the second half of the record comes out. I know they can't play the LA area - as per Coachella contract - but does anyone know what that "no play" distance is?

Thoughts on other shows? Tour? Craig?

    ReplyDelete
  101. sameoldact-
I looked into it and theres diff rumors. i heard 2 weeks and i heard a couple of months. however there is an acception. bands can only play at the glasshouse in pomona CA.

"But there ARE some exceptions. A music venue called The Glasshouse in Pomona, CA will sometimes host popular Coachella acts just a day or 2 before the festival. Because of Goldenvoice's special relationship with the Glasshouse (it's also the only non-Ticketmaster place to buy Coachella tickets) these are the only "official" secret shows."

so far nothing is scheduled there april 5-20 so i bet SOMEONE from coachella will play there..

    sources:

    and

    http://www.casenet.com/music/glasshousecalendar.htm

    ReplyDelete
  102. Portishead played the Mayan last year before Coachella so it's not always just the Glasshouse. I don't think a headliner has ever played a secret L.A. warmup show though.

    ReplyDelete
  103. ANOTHER secret show possibility?

*drools, then faints, then drowns in pool of drool*

    ReplyDelete
  104. .....and a pleaseant time is guaranteed for all.
my best friend and i are driving from deep south texas, via san antonio, and are looking for two other partners in crime to join us. so, if you are en route via I10, contact me so we can do undo it all.

    ReplyDelete
  105. ohhhhh, forgot to add that we are camping onsite and have purchased a tent with room for two others. all you would need purchase is the campground access which i believe is $55 and bring your own sleeping stuff. we are attending all three days. who said, "me me me?"

    ReplyDelete
  106. Just got my ticket!!!!!!!!!!! this is so unreal! will def make up for not getting into la's secret show and the rain incident at jimmy kim's....pumped to hear some songs from 4:13...anndd hopefully some b-sides -mark

    ReplyDelete
  107. Thanks Sara, for the great info. I guess time will tell...

It would be great to get the bad taste out of our mouths from the secret show, and the Kimmel (sp?) nightmare (who cares how to spell his name...)
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  108. COF friends,

How hot does it get at night at Coachella? I need to know...thanks...-mark

    ReplyDelete
  109. Last time we were out there in August at night and it was like 100degrees. Being that it is April perhaps less. I'm expecting maybe 80s.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I stand corrected, a friend of mine says during April at Coachella it gets a little chilly. Like light jacket status.

    ReplyDelete
