    ReplyDelete
  2. KelBel: Yes, The Curse went ahead and booked their Saturday show. Brian was pretty confident that The Cure would play Sunday. If they played.

    ReplyDelete

  5. I can't imagine Killers, Smashing Pumpkins AND Cure playing Sunday. I mean, that's a great fucking show, right there.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Is there anyone else rumoured to be closing the sunday show?

i thought metallica was somewhere in there...or is that on saturday and im just blind...

    ReplyDelete
  7. Who the heck is Taylor Swifty???
Is she any good?...her name sure sounds dodgy!

    ReplyDelete
  8. You have to hand it to these KROQ people. They know how to keep the Cure fans tuning it at the hour of their choosing :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. yes, but who killed mecha-streisand? SMITHRA

    ReplyDelete
  10. Here's the rumored line-up for Sunday: The Cure, The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie, Franz Ferdinand, The All-American Rejects, Jack's Mannequin, Vampire Weekend, Shiny Toy Guns

    ReplyDelete
  11. They are Bastards! Do they love to see The Cure Fans Squirm??? If I was going to LA that weekend, the extra wait to find out Sunday's bands would just make me insane! Changing flights and all that other stuff.

Wonder if The Cure will be the headliner with all the rumored bands that are supposed to play Sunday Night??? Looks like it's going told be an awesome line up! And Saturday night looks decent too.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Wow April that's a good line-up and maybe Franz Ferdinand will be there too! Too awesome!!! It really sucks that I can't make it out for that weekend! :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. man, i was putting all my marbles in for saturday! oh well lol i heard metallica would be sunday from one of their forums but who knows... they can still announce more people for sat also...

    ReplyDelete
  14. Swify - You know it!

I was wondering why they played Franz' new single last night. They are never that quick. I would believe they are playing. Vampire Weekend has a strong fratboy following. This will be an interesting mix of fans

    ReplyDelete
  15. i am so tired of refreshing this damn blog!!!!!

just thinking they MIGHT announce early!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well if they don't, at least we have the other shows. Maybe they need to promote album to a wider audience through tv, have meetings, friends, etc. It would be a nice xtra "big" xmas present though.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's going to be an amazing weekend either way, The Curse will be playing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. 50 more mins til they hang us on a thread and make us listen to a bunch a crap before FINALLY making the announcement 18 minutes into the 5 O'clock hour - YAY!

This stress is UNREAL! Can't everyone just tell us what is GOING ON NOW and GIVE US A F-ING TICKET ALREADY!

    ReplyDelete
  19. The hard rock night is already done. Metallica is playing a couple shows here in a couple of weeks. Sunday is more "Indie" night.

Cat - I thought of you because Deerhunter is playing up here in a couple weeks at El Rey

    ReplyDelete
  20. cureheart: OMFG I LURVE DEERHUNTER VERY DEERLY - LOL

    ReplyDelete
  21. ah hell who am i kidding? i can't afford that.

i gots to save for future kurey gigs stateside.

one thing though - if they play letterman my ass is THERE.

NYC + Dave + Cureyness = Yummables times a gazilion

    ReplyDelete
  22. ok craig i want to know where you got this information! who spilled the beans @ kroq for you? is this a reliable source? or are they blowing smoke up your ass? (ok i really dont care who told you....just want to know if they are trustworthy)

    ReplyDelete
  23. hell, i'd go just for AFI, but these tickets are hard to getttttttt.

    ReplyDelete
  24. ill meet you in NYC for letterman cat!!!!

im SO THERE!!! but DAMMIT it better be on a weekend!!!! i cant be taking all these days off work now.

didnt RSx remember our conversation about touring during summers and the 2 weeks that contain xmas and new years??

    sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Quick question about Leno, do we know if he tapes same day as airing? Cuz if not, my boss is gonna kill me, another change. I already told her about Kimmel not being Live although it being in the name. And how I'd need Monday off then, not Tuesday. Leno better not chin me on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  26. CHRISXXX, we will simply have to call in DEAD to work if Cureyness play Letterman. Cuz NYC is my fave city, and Dave is my BOO, and RSX is my OTHER BOO (well, my main boo, then Dave, then you).

Srsly, I have always wanted to see Letterman live, and I just couldn't stand NOT to be there if Cure played.

    ReplyDelete
  27. and yeah, Chrisx, RSX clearly ain't LISTENIN' to us TEACH PEEPS

    UP

    WIT

andy - i thought leno was airing on thursday afternoon or something???

    ReplyDelete
  29. My guess is they were told to deny deny deny!

Ok 30 mins more til 5 on the west coast!

GOSH THEY HAVE TO PLAY KROQ IT JUST DOESNT MAKE SENSE NOT TO?!

    ReplyDelete
  30. chris - Dec. 11th, 2008 - Tonight Show w/Jay Leno is what it says. And I only mentioned Tuesday and Monday when I used Jimmy Kimmel as an example. So I was hoping that Leno would stick to Thursday because that's what I told my boss.

    ReplyDelete
  31. andy - yes i think i read somewhere that they record same day. i think sara told me that. she said her dad went and it was recorded like mid afternoon or something and then aired that same night.

    ReplyDelete
  32. im going to play txt twist to pass the time.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Unless they're gonna play their own gig somewhere else, maybe?

    I'm just saying...

    Roll on Wishful Thinking Tour!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Or crash the Curse's gig on Sat Night :)

    Now wouldn't that be swell!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have a FEELING they will play because they wouldn't come here for all the tonight shows for nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. YES SG!!!!!!!!!!!!

but during the 2 weeks that contain xmas and new years!!!

    :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. Guess we'll know in like 17seconds,
    ermm

    I mean minutes...

    tick
    tick
    tick
    tick
    tick
    tick

    ReplyDelete
  38. LOL

    crash the Curse gig.

    that would be INSANE!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. why am i getting the feeling that they are not playing? im not getting myself worked up for some reason.....i mean i hope they do but hum......

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh...the suspense!

Thank goodness I bought tix on Southwest...

so easy to change if you need to...

    ReplyDelete
  41. so if they are NOT announced tonight, does that mean FOR SURE they are not doing K-ROQ?

or will K-ROQ pull some bullshit at the last minute?

whats the history with this gig?

    ReplyDelete
  42. i'll be at the curse gig. :) aaiiieeeeeee!

    ReplyDelete
  43. SG - what about last minute changes? like if i book for return flight on sunday and want to change it to monday?

    ReplyDelete
  44. chris - i asked this morning when i called around 5:20am, they said just cuz someone is announced today doesn't mean they can't be added later. lame, i know.

    ReplyDelete
  45. andy...

    all i can say is...

    they

    are

    shitasses.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Chris: On Southwest you just pay the diff in fares (if any) no change fee AT ALL!

    ReplyDelete
  47. it's time. i don't have access to a radio and really can't be on headphones at work. Update me people!

    ReplyDelete
  55. They are on for an hour so will be before then. God, are they going to make us listen to their entire show

    ReplyDelete
  56. Alright Beau - joing the crazies. I need wine

    ReplyDelete
  57. *hugs DJ and everyone else*

    Hello!

    They said minutes!

    ReplyDelete
  58. They are playing. Look at the KROQ website!

    ReplyDelete
  59. thank the lord we were right.....doubtful but right!

    ReplyDelete
  60. So going back to the Rumor post on COF: link

the only band that has been confirmed are STP. Night 2 would be spectacular with the lineup of Smashing Pumpkins, Killers, and esp. Cure.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Cureheart - Aye, its always healthy to have some hyper cure news....and wine of course. :)

Christ, why am I half expecting to hear "Its Over"?

Sorry, i'm not used to American radio. Better than most UK stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I have a feeling this will be very, very hard to get good tickets for.

    ReplyDelete
  63. wo0p! They are playing! :).

Now, wheres all that money I need? :(

    ReplyDelete
  64. SCOTT WEILAND, SNOW PATROL VAMPIRE

    CURE

    ReplyDelete
  65. better than UK stuff? are you sure beau?

man... that one frickin awesome night to miss.

    ReplyDelete
  66. paramore on the same night as the cure?

    festivals are always weird :P

    ReplyDelete
  67. DJ - Sorry I mean better than UK radio ;).

    ReplyDelete
  68. I just screamed at my desk with my headphones on and everyone came out "what concert are you going to!"

    ReplyDelete
  69. They are playing

    the cure
    the killers
    deth cab for cutie
    paramore
    franz ferdinand
    scott weiland
    snow patrol
    vampire weekend

    OMG!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. ROFLMAO CUREHEART!!

really beau? i listen to uk radio sometimes, and i think alot of the stuff yall play are better :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. yeah, i kinda jumped in excitement too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. OK shit.

Decision time. Do i beg for another day off and stay and hopefully score tickets to this??

Cat - what are you going to do? did you fly southwest babe?

    text/call me.

    im going home now.

    AND I CAN FINALLY PEE!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. FFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK YES!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Of course, NOW KROQ starts playing Cure songs. About time

    ReplyDelete
  75. DJ - Yeap, I can't stand most UK radio stuff. BBC 6 and 2 alternative arn't bad I guess. BBC 1 I find awful though but I guess most mainstream radio stations are like that.

I like the way they built up the cure then AND dum, de, dum, de, dum, de dum, dum (Lullaby)

    ReplyDelete
  76. aww come on beau, there are sooo many good UK bands. do you have to put up with emo over there?

sad to hear about BBC, makes you miss j. peel more and more

    NIGHT 2 IS INSANE!!
tix will be a bitch to get of course

    ReplyDelete
  77. they haven't announced when the sale is. Once they sell out, it will be very costly.

At least they will start playing The Cure and hopefully SOMETHING off 4:13!

    ReplyDelete
  78. tix are gonna be 90-100 a pop. owwie.

    ReplyDelete
  79. They just said Cure could sell out Gibson 30 days in a row if they wanted and they said they played there before. they are grateful they are playing there

    ReplyDelete
  80. DJ - try at least $300

    ReplyDelete
  81. DJ - Emo, I think thats the reason I stopped listening to the radio to be honest. You're right there are a lot of brilliant artists here but there was a time when they were getting swallowed up commercially by all the emo-acts.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Beau - try streaming indie 103.1. let me know your thoughts

    ReplyDelete
  83. everybody post your limits. ha, not if you don't want to.

i think i'll go as far as $400 for a ticket. no more.

    ReplyDelete
  84. OMG!!!!!! I'm going to LA to go on the Carson Daly!!! I MUST see the KROQ Cure show. Don't give me any shit!! Must. Score. Ticket.
I'll pay money. I'll prostitiute myself. I'll vote Republican. But get me into that show!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. $300 or $400 a pop??

    Jeepers, I don't think so

    ReplyDelete
  86. Cureheart - Cheers, just started streaming now. :) More like my sort of stuff.
Foo Fighters at the moment, who I don't particulary like but they are barable :). Think i'll add this to my favourites, first impressions are good. :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Craig - video of the KROQ Advert

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn7GRelBEzw

    ReplyDelete
  88. Cureheart - The Smiths - This Charming Man now. Much better :) Cheers again.

    ReplyDelete
  89. wait...seriously??? $400???

    thats it???

i paid more than that for my NYC tickets!!!!!!!

i was thinking more in the 4 digits for prices...but i guess its not THAT insane...

    still thinking.....

    ReplyDelete
  90. is there a pit for this?

if so - how much do those historically go for with scalpers for this gig?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Chris - well, i'm giving my limit. not scalpers. hell no, i'm sure they'll make much more. im just saying if i can't find one for under $400 i don't think i can make it.

    ReplyDelete
  92. gotcha andy.

thats about my limit too. what ARE the historical prices for this? anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Andy: That link doesn't work, but just go to the KROQ website, they have it posted there.

Who's wearing their Nightmare Before Cure-mas shirt from Rev? : )

    ReplyDelete
  94. PAUL YOU ARE HILARIOUS!!! :)

how hard is it to get tix NOT from scalpers - but from kroq themselves?
and isnt their a 2 pair limit?

chris - there is a pit - there was one last year for sure!!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Craig - it's still "processing", but it will. and yeah i know it's at the KROQ website but don't you guys always post links to where videos can be found and someone always wants a YouTube of it, or am i being dumb?

    ReplyDelete
  96. my bet is a revolving stage, just like Gibson had at Download Fest 2008 in July i went to.

    ReplyDelete
  97. ok - im going home.

    shit.

must think about what i must do.

i might go ahead and ask for that monday off though...

    just in case.......

    ReplyDelete
  98. Since its KROQ it will be a 2 ticket limit and about $80 a ticket and it all goes to charity. They usually have a revolving stage for this. On sale is usually close to the event too. They say its to cut down on scalpers.

    ReplyDelete
  99. dammit - why couldnt they have waited ONE MORE FREAKIN WEEK TO DO ALL THIS!!!!!!!!!

on week later after all this - and ill be off for holiday break....

    DAMMIT
    DAMMIT
    DAMMIT!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Because the band would like to be home with their families for the holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Wow!!! Simply Wow!!! That's going to be one killer show! The Cure & Franz Awesome! Damn I wish I could go! Have fun to everyone who will able to get ticket!

    ReplyDelete
  102. yeah ok craig...king obvious here...

    sheesh. :D

and they could bring their families WITH them!!! why wouldnt they want to have holiday in sunny california!!!!

or better yet - HOUSTON TEXAS!!! what a GREAT idea huh?

    :D

    ReplyDelete
  103. Thursday Dec 11th - The Cure on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
Friday Dec 12th - The Cure on Last Call with Carson Daly
Saturday Dec 13th - The Curse: Tribute to The Cure gig
Sunday Dec 14th - The Cure at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas
Monday Dec 15th - The Cure on Jimmy Kimmel Live

    ReplyDelete
  104. DJ lol

I hope I can go to the KROQ show but with just this one actual real concert lined up in LA in only 3 weeks getting tickets is going to be totally impossible, right? Or is it!!! I won't try to bring you down about my obsession

    ReplyDelete
  105. I am very excited for everyone that has the chance to go and see the shows.

For those who can't make it, I'll see you here at COF for our concert chats.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Just so you know in the past they have played games with the onsales. You were given a time to be at a certain place and they gave out wrist bands and then you had to go line up somewhere else where they chose a starting number at random and tickets were sold till they ran out. I mean KROQ tries to keep the tickets out of scalpers hands and makes buying the tickets hard so hopefully fans will get them. But remember too that there are are only a limited number available for sale if you don't win cause the radio station has most of the tickets for themselves and the bands and the charities and the record companies. It is just a hard ticket to get every year.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Yeah elise it will be an Excellent COF/Cure Chat weekend! I can't wait, I've been so out of the Cure Chat loop for weeks I need to get back in. Just like the tour days!

    ReplyDelete
  108. So these tickets are totally impossible things???

    ReplyDelete
  109. ahhh...to wish impossible things (I had to!)

    ReplyDelete
  110. A few tix are already on ebay and the various scalper sites. Fucking scalpers!

    ReplyDelete
  111. The Official site has the story now:

    http://www.thecure.com/default.aspx

    Great for Cali CURE fans.......

I wish i could be there...

    :(

    ReplyDelete
  112. b - impossible, tickets aren't out yet.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Craig - Yes Virginia reminds me of the Dresden Dolls

    ReplyDelete
  114. 5 - 10 AM?? ILL BE IN SCHOOL, THOSE FUCKERS!!

1000 bucks? who do thy think theye fooling?

CAT - NOOOO. the world wouldnt be the same without you. my world especially :)

    ReplyDelete
  115. IF i go, i think i can leave LAX for SFO and make it back here by 7:45.

ill be late to school though..
    teacher: why are you late?

"sorry, i just flew in from L.A."

"yeah right. i assume it was a businness trip?"

    DJ gets detention :P

    ReplyDelete
  116. I have to find time to sleep from Sunday night to Monday morning

    ReplyDelete
  117. DJ, I AM GLAD I WAS BORN ONLY SO I COULD MEET YOU ONE DAY

I AM ANGUISHED OVER POSSIBLY NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE IT TO KROQ, THOUGH

    ReplyDelete
  118. Cat, can you change things and go? We have to all go together. DJ I HAVE to meet you.

Rev's new shirt is perfect for this event.

If you are lucky enough to get a ticket when they go on sale, it will be 90-100. After that, it's going to sky rocket with brokers, etc. It's a private event and hard to get them. They do give away tickets and will say which night it's for.

I really hope most of us can go.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Beau,

Indie plays a lot of new stuff. They will play Foo Fighters and U2 here and there, but not so much. They also have different programs like Big Sonic Heaven and Steve Jones from Sex Pistols has a great show 12-2 our time every weekday. Dave Navarro has a show as well. NO EMO BANDS EVER

    ReplyDelete
  120. Cat - I'm there for Carson, oh yeah! And it' a mini concert so we'll have our Cure fix for the night. I remember you from NY, so I'll come jump on you!

Swifty - Wish you were here too. At least London has the NME to look forward to.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Unfortunately London is even further away from me than Californication.
You see, I come from a land down under. Right now its the pits of the world.
Cureheart-please have a BLAST OF A TIME for me!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Swifty - we will all be there in spirit, and here on COF.

P.S. Save your money - I'm still sending good vibes to the universe for a full tour next year!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Dearest Elise - I am with you! I am very exited for everyone, even though I won't be there. I am looking forward to the COF chats!

Anyone know how long the Cure's set will be?

    ReplyDelete
  124. *waves to Kate* It feels like forever

    ReplyDelete
  125. Elise - Another tour is a sure bet then. Those vibes of yours work every time.

Anyhow, yes ,SAVE UP!. Its the price we pay for happiness.

But.....I still wanna screw my job with an angle grinder and head to the good'ole US of A next month.
    Sadly it aint gonna happen.....

    ReplyDelete
  126. it looks like - the last band of each almost acoustic night gets an hour =/

    ReplyDelete
  127. Night 1 & 2 scalper proceeds benefit Joe the Scalpers coke habit. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  128. Craig - i'll be at the show, but i'll make sure to capture the webcast and share.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Craig....so on point there. I feel kind of bad knowing I might be supporting that charity as well.

    ReplyDelete
  130. lol craig

oh yeah - ticketmaster makes sure your credit card belongs to a cali resident when you buy tix, to prevent scalping

    boy, doesnt that suck!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Lollers, Craig!!!!

That "only in Cali" situation is ripe for rorting!!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. HI ELISE!!!

*jumps up and down and waves*

    ReplyDelete
  133. so, can only CA residents win tickets too?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Cureheart, did we meet in the bathroom at MSG?? I know we have talked about this before, but I am VERY flakey, prolly owing to all that WEED I smoked back in the day. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing you again.

    YAY!

    Cureyness brings us all together.

    *kisses the universe*

    ReplyDelete
  135. Cat -

Yes, we met in the bathroom at MSG! I'll see you soon ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  136. ROFLes with cream! It sounds so naughty - we met in the bathroom. What I never understood is, how did you know me when you came up to me? Oh, wait, had you seen my picture? Anyway, LOL. I remember chatting by the sinks. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  137. Cat and cureheart - that is hilarious!

cureheart did i meet you too? i was there too! i cant remember tho!!

cant wait to meet you again! :)

    ReplyDelete
  138. chris, we BOTH met her in the bathroom, I think - it was BEFORE we did our little sneak-a-roo where you met me back in the bathroom to give me your cousin's floor tic. LOL!!! That was so funny how we were trying to figure out what to do, remember?! My plan was far shakier than yours - and yours worked brilliantly and we got to be together. YAY!

    Gawd, MEMORIES.

We'll be making new ones soon - I just wish the Kroq thing would work out and we could be in front. BUT if the Cure is only playing a short time and I have to suffer through some of those bands (not all), I'm not sure it's worth it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Crikey! cripes! Cure in concert on Carsons last call in Cali. In the crowd, Clockwork Cat, Cureheart, Christina and other cool curey cats go crazy and out of control.
    I'd like to C that!!!
Really I'd love to B there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  140. swifty, you own my heart. so creative and witty.

i wish you could be with us. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  141. cat -

when i remember that show - i completely fall apart!!! :D

    INSANE IT WAS!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  142. CAT!
