The Curse plays UTS and more

"Here's some video footage of The Curse playing Underneath the Stars. UTS Part 1 / UTS Part 2
They also did The Only One (security told me to stop filming, so it's only 44 seconds long), The Perfect Boy, and The Reasons Why (audio only). It was a great show."
(Thanks AndytheCurefan)

  4. is Xploding boy Brian?

not the best recording but just want to say I've seen the Curse a couple times in the Bay Area and they are really good. Brian is very handsome, looks like a young RS before the big hair. His voice is very Robert sounding also. If you have a chance check them out in LA sssssssfun!!!!

  8. would be cool if they played their own music and stop living off the hard work of other people's successes

  9. yeah, um, that's not what they're doing at all

  10. None of us are living off of this. We do it simply because it's fun to do. Were all huge Cure fans and we do it for the love of the music. What little we make from this doesn't even cover the amount we've spent on equipment over the years. If you notice none of us aren't trying to pretend were the cure by wearing make up or costumes. As far as original music goes all of us have or have had original projects in the past. Lastly our show last night was a charity show. All the profits are going to the ThinkCure foundation that provides support to childrens hospital and City of hope for cancer research.

  11. wow robertsbunghole you might just be a little jealous that they can actually play cure songs successfully, you obviously dont know what being a tribute band is all about, i bet the cure are flattered of the curse...you should be more open minded

  12. no i just stated an opinion , seems like this chat board is full of love and free speech as long as you agree with everything and not have a dissenting opinion. Just because i think tribute bands are to me pointless and lame doesn't mean you have to agree with me, or like my opinion but a rather well thought out retort is fine like Alexis did. Andythecurefan is a prime example of one of these hostile cure fans who probably diddles himself over cure posters, oh and fuck you for calling me an asshole,( you lame robert wannabe in black clothes and tasseled air with all your "cool band buttons", looking like a bullet proof clown) without any attempt at reasonable debate you stupid high school or community college fuck. (i only resorted to this childlike charade as it seems its the only language andy can understand as he has not got a very extensive vocabulary. Maybe if wrote in in the more familiar he, said "he did not like the tribute bands...she said "she does" but they will never agree i said he will always agree ahhhh..anyway there was the last 20 robert lyrics pretty much...maybe you understand now.

anyway back to alexis' answer i appreciate YOU taking the time to reasonably explain why you do this..thank you i appreciate and gained some more respect for you.

oh and to sara543 cure songs are not that difficult to play, lots of over dubs, layering, with mostly simple chord progressions, repeated (as in case of alt.end ripped off one of their own songs in your house, or cut here ripped off of new orders ceremony...etc)

even the most basic guitar players can start off with cure songs, please do not take this out of context, simple does not mean bad...thats one thing about the cure i like is the not overtly hard chord progressions like smiths or radiohead , anyway so yeah this lil blurb was to sara543..i know a bit about music as i play, i tend to like to use seventh chords like cocteau twins and a lower half tuning.

and before someone slams me again as i know they will, i never said playing cover songs was a bad thing..just if thats all you do without any sense of your own identity,,,same goes for the robert clones i see a the concerts that mimic even his mannerism,,no wonder he keeps mike (his bodyguard closer) these days. Its sad and pathetic to see these people with no sense of life outside the cure..no identity..he wrote about you guys in 92 in a lil song called End...

i have much more respect for people who attempt and try their own things and fail , succeed off the backs of others works.

again Alexis thank you for the reasonable retort and civil debate, you presented your ides without resort to childish name calling like others on here who could not write decent piece of critique so that's what they resort to. I assume you are in the band and i apologize for my earlier assumptions if you guys make ur own music fantastic.

  13. I can see why you think people should also do their own music but to be honest with you that stopped being fun for me after a while and I haven't performed in an orginal band for years now. Maybe I just wasn't in a band I liked anymore, I don't really know. I think it's very important that you enjoy playing music (original or not). Now, that doesn't mean I won't ever do that again, just not for right now. Long before we had this band I was doing this alone in my garage where no one (except my neighbors) could hear. I would be in there for hours, sometimes staying home from school so I can be in there for 5-8 hours, a few times even longer. I did it simply for the enjoyment I got from it, there was no crowd, just me having fun. I can say in all honesty that none of that has gone away. I play in The Curse for the same "REASONS WHY" I practiced so much on my own in the past. The ONLY difference is that now I play with other Curefans, and we can share our enjoyment with even more Curefans. Of course I can't practice all day anymore since I need to earn an income just like anyone else. And no, that does NOT come from the band. Unless you're a signed act on a major label I think having any band is more of a money pit than a money maker. (at least that's all I've known). But it's all worth the price if you enjoy doing it.

  15. fighting on the internet is pointless, you were being a dick and now you want to back yourself up. whatever, you could have just stated that you didn't care about tribute bands or that they're not your thing and we would have respected that. but when you try to bring my friends down, im definitely going to say something in response.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Listen you guys, don't worry about it. Lol. There's a lot of random people out there

The Curse is fun luv ya

    ReplyDelete
  17. to andy the cure fan, again your lack of eloquent retort strikes gain,. i DID say i did not like cover bands but prefer people who us their talents fr something original. Backing myself up? perhaps i did in regards to Alexis well written explanation of why he did what he did.A stronger MAN has the decency and obligation to correct and apologize for any premature misgivings or writings as i did. But alas you are still a boy and there is time and lets pray hope for yu to get this one day.
No where in my original post was i hostile or demeaning to the band. I merely stated an opinion, but its someone like you who would censor all dissenting opinons and thats a scary thought that someone so young could still not have tolerance for other people's thoughts "NO MATER WHAT THEY SAY Or HOW THEY DRESS" its in your actions,,and you calling me a "dick" just because i did not support your friends' band is childish and i did in certain words say that tribute bands aren't my thing, sorry i don't have the Andythecure fans Book on acceptable dissenting opinions to match the words up exactly so that in your head all will be kosher and you won't plan some mass killing spree cause someone talked bad (or more correctly disagreed) about your musical tastes. You my friend are the dick with no tolerance...unless everyone's opinion matches your own, you fume at another's point of view. You lack maturity, diplomacy as well as restraint.
ok s now i will say i hate the song "the Real Snow White" you have a problem with that? you going to call me an asshole for not liking it?

oh P.S. sorry for the post being there 3 times no idea how that happened, i tried to delete 2 of them.

  18. I said that you should have said in the FIRST place that tribute bands aren't your thing. However you didn't.

You said "would be cool if they played their own music and stop living off the hard work of other people's successes"

And that was the negative and insulting remark to start it all off. I'd have respect for your opinions if it didn't seem originally that you were putting down other people. you not liking the Real Snow White, that's fine. That's entirely an opinion. Until you see the difference, then you'll never understand.

  23. Very cool! You guys sound great! Thanks for sharing the videos!

Do you guys ever come out to the east coast like to Philly or NYC? Well if not, if I ever go to LA, I'd love to see one of your shows!

  24. Hi,
Roberts bunghole, nobody's feelings are hurt, but when someone or someones friend is insulted usually people tend to get pissed off, and everyone here respects peoples opinions, but when people feel that the line has been crossed they step in. If you meant no negativity then you were simply misinterpreted. I think when you said: "played their own music and stop living off the hard work of other people's successes" that might have offended a lot of us. I am not trying to argue I am just trying to explain why we were a little pissed at what you said. sorry for the misunderstanding.
With that said, I am not posting anything else about the matter lol

  25. Lets not forget The Cure themselves have done cover versions....

  29. Never played the East Coast but we would love to. We were hoping to do a big show in Los Angeles and NY for for Robert's 50th b-day this coming April but I don't think we'll be able to afterall. Maybe Someday.......

  30. KelBel, I'm glad you and some others here plan on making it out to our December 13th show. If anyone else is travelling to Los Angeles for that Cure weekend and wants to check out our show please send me your song requests ASAP. We'll do our best to get to all of them. Our songlist can be found here:

    http://www.thecurseband.com/songsperformed.html

You can still request a song even if it's not on the list, it just might be tougher for us to get it in time. :)

  31. jsus you guys are pathetic misquoting me about the cover band thing, i never said it was bad to lay cover songs just to waste all your musical talent to be a tribute or cover band (ok i did not say it that way verbatim for thse of you looking for any way to say anything) yes what i initially said an opinion which that little prick andythecure fan decided to call me an asshole over my opinion, nowhere in my 1st opinion were there hostile or overtly negative comments. if lil emo boys feelings were hurt that i disliked his band for playing cover songs,i love the Hypocrisy of everyone coming to his rescue where he has no respect for anyones opinion and fast tracks it to name calling Hypocrisy.
however when alexis decided to write civilly you noticed my tone changes accordingly.

perfectmurder those 8 minutes saved you from updating your nambla site so go fuck yourself, you guys read it cause it entertains you and you guys secretly like the drama it seems otherwise you would just ignore me.

me i have a ffew minutes to kill before i go out and write whatever i want t on this site and see wo responds and how,,,to me its entertainingm i'll admit because i see so much blatant hypocracy and ass kissing and sycophants ...

i will actually be surprised when someone responds to this, cause haven;t they already moved on to another 8 topics by now...
