but i think it's the clip that will be on Mtv (and kind of) promoting the single
although i have to say i'm terribly ambivalent about porl's glammed up look. on the one hand, i like that he's being flamboyant with his fashion, especially at his age when "wisdom" dictates that he be sartorially complacent. on the other hand, it seems rather self-conscious and forced. but whatever - in the, on the music matters.

ReplyDeletethe song is VERY reminiscent of high. nay, it APES high rather shamelessly. hence my vehement dislike of it. i love high but come ON! have some originality for once. songs like lost are ORIGINAL, but this song is a blatant bastardization of high. it's not BAD per se, just too familiar. but maybe that's the point. familiar enuf to lure back the lapsed fans and catchy enuf to lure in the kiddies.

ReplyDeleteI love the song but IMO the video doesn't do it justice. The camera work is fine but the location and Black and White just don't fit the song. It looks a bit cheap.

Bizarrely, this track is growing on me and I haven't even acquired a copy of it yet. It's stuck in there from probably two views of the video and one live witnessing at Wembley Arena.

The opening riff is a bit like the theme tune from (creepy 80's TV show) Tales of the Unexpected!
Sleep When I'm Dead is definitely top of the tree though.
Controversially I am a fan of Freakshow. I really rather like NY Trip, A Boy I ever Knew and The Perfect Boy too.
