Toronto announcement soon?

For those still holding out hope that the Toronto show wouldn't be at Bestival, and used last year's dates (a Friday and Saturday, so The Cure can't play, they'll be in Chicago) as your proof, that hope is fading fast.

Bestival has announced this year's dates, Saturday June 11th & Sunday June 12th, and a new venue. Still no official confirmation, and there's still a chance this is all a coincedence, but The Cure are playing Toronto on June 12th, Bestival needs a headliner Sunday night, Bestival and Robert have a good relationship, so...we should know something very soon.
(Thanks @akajoeyjones)

Update (March 10th, 2016): Looks like we get our answer, one way or the other, tomorrow at 9 am eastern.

  1. Man it looks likely now. I guess it'll depend on lineup last year's did not interest me, not sure about this year.

  2. Yeah, I've been thinking more and more that this is going to be a festival show. This truly sucks. At least I have the Montreal and NYC shows for proper Cure performances.

    1. I didn't get tickets to nyc, sadly I waited for toronto (only 2 hrs from buffalo.) Now I have to decide if festival if their playing or buying a ticket to nyc from here and taking a 9 hr bus ride.

    2. I'm going to NYC from Rochester. It'll be worth it!

1.5 hour round trip flights are usually $200 or less. 7 hour train round trip is usually $150 or less. Megabus is a bit longer and usually less than $50 round trip.

  4. And Canadians all need to consider driving to Montreal, I guess. Ugh

  5. Fuck that. Passed last time they were in my city because of the festival appearance and I'm gonna pass a second time around. Not worth sitting through a day of shitty bands and their fans for a festival set of the Cure.

    2. Thanks for the heads up, Shawn... I've been considering MTL since it was announced but been holding off for official word on the TO gig...
I don't anticipate an impressive enough Bestival line-up to justify spending the ticket price on one act (and the best of the lot, no doubt!)... would be nice to see them squeezed into Ricoh Coliseum or the Queen Elizabeth Theatre!

    3. ... on second thought, if Bestival could get John Cale, Tears For Fears, Grace Jones, New Order, or Martin L. Gore doing his MG thang on the same bill... I'd be there, early bird! ;)

  6. If Detroit had multiple festival appearances in the last ~5 years, I certainly wouldn't be complaining. Way better than nothing at all since 2004. Maybe they should change their schedule...
