Bestival has announced this year's dates, Saturday June 11th & Sunday June 12th, and a new venue. Still no official confirmation, and there's still a chance this is all a coincedence, but The Cure are playing Toronto on June 12th, Bestival needs a headliner Sunday night, Bestival and Robert have a good relationship, so...we should know something very soon.

Man it looks likely now. I guess it'll depend on lineup last year's did not interest me, not sure about this year.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been thinking more and more that this is going to be a festival show. This truly sucks. At least I have the Montreal and NYC shows for proper Cure performances.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get tickets to nyc, sadly I waited for toronto (only 2 hrs from buffalo.) Now I have to decide if festival if their playing or buying a ticket to nyc from here and taking a 9 hr bus ride.
DeleteI'm going to NYC from Rochester. It'll be worth it!
Delete1.5 hour round trip flights are usually $200 or less. 7 hour train round trip is usually $150 or less. Megabus is a bit longer and usually less than $50 round trip.

ReplyDeleteAnd Canadians all need to consider driving to Montreal, I guess. Ugh
ReplyDeleteTickets are still available for the Montreal show, though none on the floor.
ReplyDeleteIf Detroit had multiple festival appearances in the last ~5 years, I certainly wouldn't be complaining. Way better than nothing at all since 2004. Maybe they should change their schedule...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, Shawn... I've been considering MTL since it was announced but been holding off for official word on the TO gig...
ReplyDeleteI don't anticipate an impressive enough Bestival line-up to justify spending the ticket price on one act (and the best of the lot, no doubt!)... would be nice to see them squeezed into Ricoh Coliseum or the Queen Elizabeth Theatre!
... on second thought, if Bestival could get John Cale, Tears For Fears, Grace Jones, New Order, or Martin L. Gore doing his MG thang on the same bill... I'd be there, early bird! ;)
ReplyDeleteyeaaah!!! the VCMG tracks were pretty tight!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm a 2 hour festival set and having to stand outdoors all day.....or a 3+ hours set in the comfort of a hockey arena.....let's see what tomorrow brings
ReplyDeleteAnnouncement is 9 am tomorrow and tickets in sake at 10 am.
