Cure Tour 2016 update

From The Cure's Facebook:

THANKS FOR THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO THE SHOW ANNOUNCEMENTS SO FAR!

WE ARE STILL FINAL ROUTING THE DATES... SETTING TICKET PRICES... AGREEING DEALS...

ADDING THESE EXTRA NYC AND LA SHOWS HAS MEANT A BIT OF CHOPPING AND CHANGING...

ALL BEING WELL, WE WILL POST A LIST OF INTENDED CITIES SOMETIME NEXT WEEK - BUT WE PROBABLY WONT BE IN A POSITION TO ANNOUNCE A FULL LIST OF ACTUAL SHOW DATES FOR A WHILE YET...

ONWARDS...

  1. You're very welcome. Ms. Kate. :)

  2. Festival anyone? It smells like Coachella to me.

    1. Doubtful. They can't be playing the Hollywood Bowl if they are playing Coachella. The venue needs to be owned by Goldenvoice, I believe.

    2. I'm thinking they'll be doing SASQUATCH, which is held in the middle of May... Up in Seattle before heading down to do the Hollywood Bowl shows doesn't seem far-fetched. Just hope they then come back up to San Francisco, if this is indeed the case!

    3. I agree about Sasquatch. I think it's typically over Memorial Day, so the weekend following LA. They'd be heading north, hopefully with a stop in SF. I'd certainly prefer a proper show in Portland or Seattle, but it fits.

    4. They have not played the Portland area in a very long time. I was really excited about the prospect. Sadly, 4 days at Sasquatch with a small child, long drive, and heady ticket prices, isn't an option. I can continue to hope

  3. If the majority of tickets went to scalpers, does that still count as an overwhelming response? Let's not forget the ticket companies sell back to themselves to sell at a higher price ie, ticketmaster owns stubhub.

    1. Concerning Cure shows, I don't even bother with onsale dates. I wait until day before or day of and try for tickets; and every single time (2004, 2008, 2011, 2013) I have gotten great seats day of the show... once for "Reflections" I did wait until about 15 mins to showtime and then got one from some dude standing out front lol...

    2. I did this for their Houston 2004 show (Curiosa). Showed up with no ticket and had no problem getting one even cheaper than face value. A last minute decision with awesome memories. Dr. Fishbones, your technique can work. I'm not taking any chances this tour.

  4. Not that the Cure or ticketmaster really care as the tickets are "sold", just might affect attendances!

  5. Hey Robert, don't forget Europe next year...

  6. "CHOPPING AND CHANGING..."

Why do I have a feeling that even if there was a remote chance of a Phoenix or Tucson show, its now toast.

At this point, it's just too overwhelming to figure out getting tickets, which shows to see, travelling etc... Unless the setlist is something really unique I'll skip this tour.

If there is a Vegas or Phoenix date I will go, but those 3 LA dates means someone in the West just got sacrificed.

  8. I appreciate the band's (Robert's) communication and gratitude through these pre sales and public sales...adding shows etc.

Can't wait for NYC night #2! It was a bit of a headache to get floor tix but... It's gonna be epic!! Will be my 6th Cure show.

I had an incredibly spectacular time in El Paso in 2013 right up front of Simon. I brought my 70 year old dad...he loved the near 3.5hr show.

    I...CAN'T...WAIT...FOR 2016!!

    2. I smiled when I saw your post about seeing them for the first time, because the music is timeless and I'm happy you get to see them perform live...no other band compares! Enjoy :)

    5. My first was their Toronto Dream Tour show in 2000. My first WOULD have been the Toronto Swing Tour show, but Ticketmaster couldn't grasp the concept of informing people about concerts and other events just an hour and a half away if the location was in another country, so the Ticketmaster attendant on the phone instead informed me about a show in the state's capital of Albany, which was too far to get my father to take me. I've never forgiven them for this.

    3. If I had $6,000, I'd use it to catch every show on the tour. I remember a pair of girls, known as the Antenna Girls due to them wearing lighted antennae at the shows that they attended, catching almost every Dream Tour show, even the ones in Europe and Australia! You can find reference to them if you do the search "Antenna Girls The Cure Dream Tour".
