I have to say I Love Reeves' playing and I love his respect for Robert. He has to be one of the most important guitarists ever. I can't wait to hear new stuff he has co-written with the band. Pork has made his own decisions and moved on. The Cure is a different beast once more. I love Porls playing too, but I didn't like everything he did in the Four piece combo days, but that's subjective. He was amazing on Wish. Perry was solid and more "cure" than anyone in The Cure, he was "meant to be there at the time he was", when the cure was more about being "cure-ish". These are my personal thoughts and in no way reflect the views of Insurance companies and dating sites using the Cure's music these days :p
Porl was awesome in his first spell with the band but if you listen to some 2005-2009 gigs he was a little sloppy. Maybe not his fault though as was improvising by playing the keyboard parts too. That said he will always hold a special place in Cure folklore. Let's see what Reeves can bring to the table, we're waiting...
I prefer solo Pearl (Porl) Thompson with The Cure!
ReplyDeleteI thought by the title we were gonna see Reeves sporting a new Bobby Charlton hairstyle. Disappointing.

ReplyDeleteI like Reeves too! But it is Porl the best! Sorry if it bothers someone! Personal opinion! :)
