  2. In regards to the xfm interview..
Did Robert let a proverbial cat out of the bag or is it just his usual interview banter about releasing the new album with Fiction??

  3. Robert mentioned he'd like to release 4.14 with Fiction to "square away the circle"..
Not really something you just throw out there casually, is it?

    1. I don't see what the big deal is. They don't have a record label, so he should be free to do what he wants with it, so it would be nice to release it with Fiction.

    2. Or am I missing the point of your question? It has been a LOOOOONG weekend. :)

  4. Oh I totally agree!
Just blew me away to hear him say it and as I said, hope it's not another of his interview musings to shut interviewers up.

    1. Oh I doubt it. For him to even bring Fiction up, he must have had some discussions with them. Remember, this release has been on and off for at least the last year or two. Maybe it's Fiction who have finally convinced him to release it.

    2. Hmmm.. Well if it's the case, it'll be just the cattle prod Robert needs to get stuff out there haha!

  5. I think it's a major deal if it goes ahead.
It's like things have gone full circle.

I may be going to far to say I wish he'd take over Fiction, I know I wanted him to have the reins when Parry offered it to him when he had the chance :)

    1. Uh, when did Chris Parry offer it to him?

    2. According to Apter's biography around the the time of Join The Dots. Parry and Smith hadn't been getting along since WMS.
Parry had been on at him over those few years to buy him out but Robert didn't want a bar of it.
Parry then sold to Universal to which Robert claims he did it without his knowledge..
Needless to say, Chris Parry walked away a very rich man!

  6. Well, I for one can't wait to be beaten over the head with new material, no matter how much of a sore spot it is for Robert!

  7. uhm yeah... Andy Anderson that guy... that drummer guy... yeah... haha man did this thread completely ignore the man or what? Loads of interesting stuff about the interview of course... just not sure why it landed here!

    1. Yup. Saw the interview thread just after I made the original post here.

    2. Andy was the drummer when I more intently started listening to The Cure so just seeing this picture (which ironically [or not] showcases Robert far more than Andy) does my heart good. Trying to imagine what's going through Robert's mind...

    3. You know Christian i had exactly the same thought. When i looked at the pic i tried to imagine what was in roberts mind. Dunno why

  8. Is Andy hinting on Facebook that he may be playing 'The Top' live on future Trilogy shows? http://www.facebook.com/SplinteredInHerHeadNZ/posts/746779998688384

    1. I really wouldn't read much into that at all. Andy seems to "like" just about every comment on his Facebook. :)

    2. Hey! Don't oppress my aspiring music journalism career! I carefully invented some news here!

    3. Now come on... Andy's latest cover photo isn't hinting at anything? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202255922053709&set=a.2593649114747.139121.1060245695

  9. After Boris Williams, Andy's been the best drummer in Cure history.
