"AS CLEARLY AND SUCCINCTLY AS I CAN..."

Robert has a LOT to say today! Official site updated with response to the ridiculous negative spin that the online music sites put on his XFM interview, and lots more. This is just a portion of it. Please go read the entire post. Thank you, Robert!

"I HAVE LITTLE DESIRE TO BE DRAWN
AND LITTLE CONVICTION IT REALLY MATTERS THAT MUCH...
BUT ON THE BACK OF THE WEARY AND EVER MORE NEGATIVE INTERPRETATIONS OF MY SHORT POST SATURDAY RAH SHOW CHAT WITH XFM
I WILL TRY TO EXPLAIN A VERY SIMPLE CHAIN OF EVENTS AS CLEARLY AND SUCCINCTLY AS I CAN, GIVEN A NUMBER OF GENUINE CONSTRAINTS…

AS CLEARLY AND SUCCINCTLY AS I CAN": I THINK '4:13 DREAM' IS AN EXCELLENT CURE ALBUM, AND ALL THE B-SIDES ARE FAB… BUT THE CULMINATION OF THE PROJECT WASNT QUITE WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN, AS 16 OF THE ORIGINAL 33 SONGS WERE 'LEFT ON THE SHELF'...

AND MY PLAN THIS SUNNY SPRING MONDAY AT THE END OF MARCH IS TO GET TO THE POINT IN THE NEXT MONTH OR THREE WHERE WE CAN RELEASE:

1)A LTD EDITION '4:26 DREAM' DOUBLE CD ALBUM OF 26 SONGS (ALL REMIXED) - IE. 'THE ORIGINAL 4:13 DREAM SESSIONS CONCEPT ALBUM' (INCLUDING THE 'INSTRUMENTALS WITH WORDS') - OF WHICH 10 TRACKS OR MORE WILL BE PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED…

2) A LTD EDITION '4:14 SCREAM' SINGLE CD ALBUM OF 14 PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SONGS - ALBEIT SOME OF THEM MAY ALSO BE ON '4:26 DREAM'… BUT THESE '4:14 SCREAM' VERSIONS WILL ALL HAVE WORDS AND VOCALS…

AND I WILL BE OVERCOME WITH AN IRRESISTIBLE URGE** TO FINISH SOME (ALL?!!) OF THE OTHER OUTSTANDING CURE PROJECTS
LIKE 'LIVE IN PARIS 2008' AND 'REFLECTIONS 2011' AND 'SUMMERCURE 2012' AND 'LATAM 2013' (AND 'RAH TCT 2014'?!!)

…AND CREATE SOME NEW NEW MUSIC WITH THIS CURRENT CURE LINEUP...

PS
"AS CLEARLY AND SUCCINCTLY AS I CAN":
I STILL PREFER PHYSICAL RELEASES TO VIRTUAL… gulp!
PPS
*"Having said all that, I have no idea… I really don't. I'm really bad at planning long-term stuff." - ME, AT THE WEEKEND…"

  1. I hope Robert never switches to decaf...

  2. I never had any doubt that RS and the Cure were going to do something exciting with all of this unreleased music. The next few years are going to be exciting!

  3. :) Exciting news. I doubt half of these will ever be released, but I for one, can't wait to read the positive review of the RAH DVD in the Guardian this time next year.

  4. Unfortunately none of these projects will be out for years; I base this on every Cure release.

    1. I wish Robert would read your comments and put one more PS.

      PPS...DEAR JPX FUCK RIGHT OFF.

That's a joke, man, don't get upset with me. Your continued disbelieving comments are like a tradition here. :)

    2. agree with JPX. Robert says stuff that doesn't happen. On a regular basis. It's exhausting.

  5. I bet the one song that won't be released will be 'A boy I never knew', which is among the best he's ever written. And obviously saved for his Solo record (if that ever comes to life).

  7. Thank you Robert, as for the interview...Who the F*ck cares! If you aren't completely happy with Robert's response, go jump off a bridge! It will leave more room for the fans! I am excited to hear of the new LTD releases, and somehow will try to get to Napa in May, but I dream of the day when Robert with his passion and magic continues for us fans and the others just go away!

  8. Poor Robert, leave him alone and let him breathe for heaven's sake. He has done so much already in his life...I can't understand why people are so stressed nowadays about this "here and now" urge on everything! Art can't be scheduled! Is that so difficult to understand? Sometimes Î think we should erase our souls from this "I have to produce at all cost" attitude... p.s. I was at the RAH concert Saturday and it was supernaturally wonderful!!! No wonder it was sold out! A 90 minute show?? Go and see Céline Dion next time!!!

  9. YES! Finally, something official. I'm... happy.

  10. I'd love to believe all of this. No reissue of ''Wish''. which was due like 2 years ago. The black album, meant to be released after ''The Cure'' album...yeah well...

  11. Does anyone have a running list of projects Robert has mentioned wanting to release? Apart from what he's mentioned in his post, I can think of the Wish re-issue, Kiss Me 3 3rd disc (as a potential digital-only release), the BBC box... What else?

    1. Mixed up 2, Orange DVD, Show DVD, 2008 Live DVD, Reflections DVD...
and if my memory serves me well, Robert said that there was a still unreleased collaboration of him.
Robert said something about a THE XX cover...
I read something about a WINGS cover recorded by Paul McCartney's son.

And of course... there are a lot of older promises (lies).

  12. I read those reviews...they were in fact absolute shit! What really gets me is when a journalist complains about a charity event. The Cure sold out two nights at the RAH, which is 10,000 tickets, gave all the profits, including the sales from the merch booth and played for three hours straight of 45 songs..and some A HOLES have the gull to write a bad review about a CHARITY EVENT FOR TEENAGE CANCER VICTIMS!!!

The reviews completely missed the boat on every level. It's not journalism, it's opinion (and a very bad one).

...but....it did force Robert to respond to the questions we have all been asking for years...so I'm glad there are A HOLES out there...I'm just glad I'm not one of them!

    1. Mike, this response wasn't to the RAH reviews, that's in the post below this one. This was a reply to all of the negative stories posted this morning about his XFM interview, saying Robert didn't really like 4:14 and didn't really want to put it out.

If you want to read them , I've got links listed at the end of the New Robert Interview post. I especially recommened the Gigwise and 405 stories. :)

    3. Well said Craig! I feel so upset and angry about how everything has been so unfairly commented on, so I can't imagine how Robert, Simon, Roger, Jason and Reeves must be feeling!! Really not the time for such references!!!

  14. Thanks Robert. ..............a loyal Cure fan who snuck under the Gates in 08.09.1989 Los Angeles - Dodger Stadium to meet you .

  15. I'm just thrilled beyond words that my favorite band ever is still playing live - EPIC concerts.- and writing new music. We as fans need only be patient, and the rewards will come! Onward!!!

  16. Whatever happens, and things always happen...I loved the way that the Statue Quo reference was slipped in there x

  17. I'm happy that Robert had my same idea..to release it as limited edition. it's the best thing to do. also cos dream 13 was so bad produced.

  18. I just LOVE when Robert communicates, simply. So good to read him and have direct infos

  20. Robert, what's your problem? New álbum already,please.6 years without cure álbum is catastrophe for the fans.

  21. What I think is awesome is that there will be two versions of the 'new' album coming out: 1. 4:26 Dream - the double album as was intended years ago (remixed). 2. 4:14 Scream - the more recently recorded (vocals) of the songs that didn't make the original 4:13 Dream album. I've been a long time fan and have loved most everything the band has put out.

  22. That was me the last comment. Now I'm known.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also looking forward to the two versions of the album, as this was always the best option for me. Happy to read Robert and dream again of Reflections DVD being released. And new songs with the current band!. If only...

  24. [doing a google search for the word SUCCINCTLY]

  25. I would buy both editions of a new album if he proceeded with that idea. I love how he still wants us to hear 4:13 Dream as the concept double album he originally envisioned. That would be epic. Also, to even mention the projects that are still up in the air does shed some light that it's on his radar. And he mentioned 2014 TCT RAH? So that was filmed?!? Oh my!

    :)

    1. And he said he prefers physical releases! That means he heard us talk about releasing it online!

Boy oh boy do I love Robert Smith. He's a musical genius.

Robert, I live in Los Angeles, CA and I was honored to attend the Reflections shows in 2011. Unfortunately the BottleRock event is not in my reach, but I eagerly await your return to Southern California!

      :)

  26. Yay! Thank you Robert for clearing that up. I would love to buy a double 4:13 with a new mix. Dream was a fantastic record just had an "off" sound mix. Looking forward to hearing it as originally intended 2 discs!! Physical copies are definitely better, i love lp artwork, words and liner notes. Mp3, spotify etc. Sound trebbley and inferior.
But, if online was the only way it would have been released, better then nothing.

I can't wait to get both versions 2008 material!
Thanks for being clear and feel free to keep us updated :)

  28. don't know if I misread but I really hope NY Trip, All Kinds Of Stuff, Down Under and Without You are not integrated into the double album, I don't think they are very good songs, but I like them as b-sides!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. i like ny trip and akos quite a lot, as much as a good clutch of songs that made 4.13..

  29. Yes, more vinyl please. 4:13 Dream sounded so much better to me when I played it on vinyl. And maybe what we'll be getting soon is that album how it should've been: as a double album; that would solve the problem of it being recorded by a different lineup than now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Really, I bought the Vinyl hoping it would sound more balanced and it sounded like the poorly mixed cd. But now we dont have to worry as the double will be mixed properly. :) yay!
That is the only cure lp I've had a problem with the mix.

  30. Please the LATAM Tour DVD.... The Cure sells out shows worldwide, I know. But this particular tour was absolutely stunning! Buenos Aires (45.000), Lima (40.000), Santiago de Chile (50.000), Foro sol Mexico (60.000) this was the atmosphere of a Prayer Tour or a Wish Tour... please don't let this DVD in oblivion it would be such a waste... seeing the cure perform for sold out stadiums in High definition once more is a dream about to come true...
