Thanking you so much for returning to New Orleans. Stunning and breath taking performance hauntingly romantic and energetic I never wanted it to end. Love to the Cure
So pleased for those of you that got to hear this song live. Let's hope the rest of us get the chance at some point in the future! Although we may all have expressed some frustration at the lack of variation in some of the festival setlists, I think its safe to say now that this line-up of The Cure has the power and ability to play any song from their back catalogue. Exciting isn't it :)
Hey Craig! Had a great time in your city! Where were you during the show? I was in the VIP section front row between Simon and Robert, I was going to yell Craig before that duo started before Kid Rock and see who turned around...it would've been nice to meet you. Drove all the way from Harrisburg PA and had a great time at City Park, Downtown and in the swamps.
RS said something about god working in mysyerious ways beyween songs but i didnt catch everything he said. Does anyone have video or audio of that? I was to busy explaining to someone that he had never done burn live before. And just heard the tail end of what he was saying.
It was before the encores started. Here's what I wrote after the show:
"With the curfew and pulled plugs in mind, before starting the encore Robert said "It's Sunday, and the lord works in mysterious ways. So if the power goes out, its nothing to do with us"
And then as they started Boys Don't Cry at the cutoff time, "Let's see if the lord is on our side tonight". :) "
Oh my god. Dreams come true!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you guys. :D Dream the crow black dream...

Holy shitballs!!
ReplyDeleteYou do realise, with the return of the tin whistle, Lament could make a return!
I thought it was either the beginning of Lament or Wailing Wall when it started. Here is hoping for the next trilogy tour!

ReplyDeleteJust WOW!

ReplyDeleteAwesome. Period.
ReplyDeleteNow let's hope they will keep it in the setlist for a looong while
Would have gone to El Paso just to see Torture and would have gone to NOLA just to see Burn. So amazing and so happy for the people that were there.

ReplyDeleteThose rolling drums, that space in between the notes, the driving bass line, atmospheric keys... and THAT voice + classic Cure
ReplyDeleteEven on an amateur recording, all I hear is the best live song The Cure have ever performed.
ReplyDeleteI hope they never play it again, it would be perfect to freeze just one moment in time...
I can not understand why they didn't perform this song live all the years. It's such an intense live track, almost like Faith.
ReplyDeleteExquisite. Still wrapped up in the beauty and grandeur of this glorious moment.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe this happened, but I'm soooooo glad it did!
ReplyDeleteMind. Blown. Perfect Halloween treat.
