While we still wait & hope for more shows this year, especially solo shows in the US, rumors have already started for next year. The [AU] Review has them at a 90% chance of headlining the Big Day Out festival in 2014. The official announcement will be made on July 31st, so not long to wait & see if there's any validity to this one. Until then, nothing more than a rumor. (Thanks David)
Update: Not true.

Fingers crossed. From what I have understand from previous COF posts (the source of truth for everything Cure-y), the Big Day Out is affiliated with the same organisers as Lollapolooza. It would be awesome if this is true.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's true. C3 puts on Lolla, Austin City Limits, and BDO. Fingers & toes crossed for you, Jo!
ReplyDeleteCraig, I have sent a couple of emails recently to craigatcof@gmail.com and haven't heard back from you.... did they get to you?
DeleteMe too (Couple of Cure spotting),
Deletewould be nice...feeling a little old for festivals but...last time I went to the BDO Joe Strummer was on the bill!!

ReplyDeleteI would much prefer they play their own stand alone Australian Tour next year. They would only be able to play for a maximum of 1 hr 45 min set at the BDO. No where near long enough for The Cure. Plus they are due for another Australain Tour. They seem to come to Aust. every seven years (1993, 2000, 2007, 2014??). This of course is not including the two Reflections shows in 2011.

DeletePigs will fly...
ReplyDeleteEven if it were true I don't think I'd bother going to the BDO!
I've been living in hope that the C3 connections would bring both The Cure & NIN to the BDO 2014.... Sadly I've heard recently that Pearl Jam & Blur are more of a chance....I guess we'll know on Wednesday 31st @ 8pm. I still have everything crossed.
ReplyDelete@nootherbob you were right Wednesday it is not Friday

The same idiots who have The Cure at 90% chance of playing the Big Day Out have Depeche Mode at 70% chance, however they've had confirmed European dates locked in at the same time since 4-5 months ago = 0% chance. Utterly useless reporting!
ReplyDeleteBrent, destroyer of hopes and dreams. :)
ReplyDeleteLook, crazy things are happening with the band these days, so I'm ruling anything out at this point. Not much longer to wait. Keep hope alive!
Hey Brent So what your saying is I should have made the effort to get to Lolla? Dam having no money...
ReplyDeleteBeen a while hope you are well mate
Sorry Craig, sorry but that journalists incompetence keeps making me laugh!, very funny to see them giving as high as 70% chance of them playing without even simply looking at their current website/tour shcedule!
ReplyDeleteHey Brendan!, never seen you around The Cure boards before (not that I have been myself much the last couple of years), I thought the name might have been you!
International acts Snoop Dogg, Pearl Jam and Blur set to co-headline Big Day Out music festival 2014.
ReplyDeleteand there you have it, no need to attend festivals!!
