Robert has updated the official site with news of a positive resolution to the ebay auction of his Secret 7" sleeve, and news on plans to auction off signed test pressings soon:
"SO...I WILL SIGN THE FIVE (I THINK THERE ARE FIVE?) VINYL 7" TEST PRESSINGS THAT WERE MADE FOR THE SECRET 7 CAMPAIGN (NOT SURE IF THEY ARE ALL 'FRIDAY I'M IN LOVE' THOUGH?!! MIGHT HAVE TO THROW SOMETHING CURE IN WITH THEM IF THEY ARE NOT!) AND THEY WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR AUCTION VIA THE TCT EBAY SITE SOMETIME IN THE NEXT WEEK...
MORE DETAILS WHEN I HAVE THEM
A GOOD OUTCOME I THINK"

So - does this mean that Ebay is forcing the seller of the original RS 7" to take it down and re-list it?

SECRET 7" UPDATE - 27TH APRIL
THE UPSHOT IS THIS:
The listing will be taken down and relisted - with 50% going to Teenage Cancer Trust, and the remaining 50% split between charities of the sellers choice - all of this overseen by Missionfish who look after charity listings on eBay.
Don't know if it was ebay or Secret 7", but someone reached an agreement with the guy, and he's going to remove it, re-list it, and 50% of the money will go to Teenage Cancer Trust and 50% to charities of the sellers choosing.
ReplyDeleteOh awesome to hear!! Yay for scumbags not being able to get away with this kind of crap! That doesn't happen very often.
ReplyDeleteThat is such great news! I love it when good triumphs over evil..... sure, evil is probably an extreme description, but you know what I mean :)
ReplyDeleteListing ended.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if people will be in as much of an uproar over this one, but when I was checking on the ended listing (thanks JC!) I saw this one on ebay too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CURE-FRIDAY-IM-LOVE-7-VINYL-LIMITED-100-EXCLUSIVE-RECORD-STORE-DAY-/230779764357
ReplyDeleteGreat news!
ReplyDeleteFair play to Robert, if he’s not having to deal with eBay opportunists, he’s trying to tackle ticket agency scammers etc. Can’t think of many other artists who go through all or this or even care.
ReplyDeleteGood work & see you in Rome!
