Spilt Milk compilation video

(Thanks to Rendal for making the video and to ML68)

Nice compilation video of 35 years of The Cure. And a very appropriate song for me today. Thank you to everyone who has helped, supported, or read CoF, over the last 15 years. To be able to share my love of this band with so many others around the world, and more importantly, to be able help so many of you over the years, and hopefully, to help promote the band in some small way, I can't even begin to tell you how much it has meant to me. So cheers to 15 amazing & (mostly) fun years!

  2. Hi Craig. Thanks for all your hard work. Long may it continue! I don't post as much as I used to, but COF is still my first port of call whenever I log on. Thanks again.

  4. This is one of The Cure's finest songs, with lyrics that mean a lot to me.
Although I only post on here occassionally, there are not many days that go by without me checking the site.
Thank you Craig for all that you do, and here's to the next 15 years :)

  8. Followed COF every day I have been a curefan. 7 years now... Since I was 11!
Probably only visited once or twice though.

Now it is everyday and has been for 3 or 4 years.

  11. This made me teary too. Happy tears for 15 years. Thanks for all you do Craig! I visit COF 3 times a day and it's been a Cure lifeline for me since '98 (I came a little late to the party). It would be neat if Robert did a "congrats" somewhere too...

  12. Wow, 15 years! Glad I'm not the only one who feels old after knowing this.. O_o
Congratulations, Craig and thank you for taking us all on an incredible journey on your blog!
Over the years you have allowed us to travel the world with our favourite bunch of lads with your news and countless updates, despite being contriversal at times.. :p
As sad as it is to say, I hope you continue until the day we see the ill fated words on our computer screens from RSX: "THIS IS IT, IT'S OVER". May that day be a long way away.. :)

  13. Congrats, Craig. Been reading since the start. Had it not been for COF, I would not have seen the Cure in concert as much as I have. The Cure have brought me great joy for the majority of my life, and Craig, you have helped me keep in touch with the music I love. Thank you!

On a note about the song... love it. Shame it wasn't on Bloodflowers. Beautiful song. However, I like the original "Ching Chang Chong" even better. Both pull at my heart in different ways. So many good Cure songs lost in the cosmos!

  14. I've been reading COF since the Swing Tour. I rarely post comments, but you are in my Google Reader and I look forward to every post. Thanks for all you do Craig.

  16. Thank you so much Craig!

I've been a follower since 1996. I always check in 2-3 times a day. I don't know what I would do without COF. Thanks for all your amazingly hard work.

    Cheers from Sweden!

  17. Thanks amigo for 15 years of hard work. I remember logging on to the old site everyday for the swing reports about whether Bob was using the bass v1 for disintegration or not...can't believe that was 15 years ago. I was 26 and that was the first tour that I went out and followed the band on the road. I had only seen the SoCal shows from 86-92 and it was so strange to see them on the east coast...such a different vibe. Some of the recordings I made on that tour became the definitive versions and COF and that tour will always be linked in my head. Thanks for all your hard work on the site and the blog, for emails answered and hope given. You are the cornerstore Craig...well done to you sir!

  18. Thank you for your hard and great work. Hope you'll continue for another 15 imaginary years.

About the vidéos, as the description said, it's me (a french fan) who did it for my wife and young boy. Thanks to ML68 and thanks to you for give it more coverage.

  19. still the best cure site out there! i've been a daily (okay maybe less in the cure's downtime...) reader since the swing tour as well. i was 14, and their portland show was my first "real" show experience. not many websites (especially fan sites) can claim to have been around since 1996! i hope it's been worth it for you and continues to be! thanks craig!

  20. Wow wonderful career spanning video, with the perfect song. I hope Robert and everyone watches it. If it was a trip down memory lane for me, I can only imagine how much nostalgia they'd feel.

Thanks Craig as well for hosting such a wonderful cure site for so long! I'd be in the dark without it!

..video makes me want all the old vhs' on blu ray and dvd NOW :)

  21. thanks a lot Craig and congratulations! I am also among the guys who are with you from the very beginning. amazing it's 15 years already...

  23. A big thank you to you Craig, for all the passion & sounds & pictures & info & tips & tricks etc.. COF has been one of my favorite virtual places to go for so many years now!

  24. Craig, I think it's testament to your site that I and, I'm sure, many people log into CoF before the official site to get news about the band and its latest. You are so on the ball, it's amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would actually visit the official site if Craig ran it...

  26. Cheers Craig. Has it been that long already? Of course it has..I remember this site from way back then and it has grown and matured and evolved since those fledgling early days....just like this band.... and this band we all love keeps us enthralled and wanting more. We are so lucky to have you and most of all this band. I am certain when I say this that Craig does it and altho it may be work, because Craig loves the Cure so much....it isnt work its a pleasure.

  27. Happy Birthday COF! Thank you Craig. Your work on keeping us up to date on everything Cure is second to none!

  28. Thanks Craig. been following since 96 too... I remember the first few sparse entries...it was the WMS tour right? man, we're getting older, when do we get wiser???

  29. Happy Anniversary to you and CoF! I decided a long long time ago that the news I cared about the most was Cure news, so thank you for being here.

Some of the most amazing and wonderful people I know have all met through CoF, some who have become my very best friends in the world!!

Sending so much love and appreciation to you always, Craig! Here's to another 15 years and beyond!!

  30. craig,
i've been following COF since just about the beginning. thank you for every day you've put into this. i know there have been times where you probably didn't want to deal with things- you've made such a commitment for us, the fans, and for the cure as well. i cannot repay you for the moments of happiness (joy, terror ;p etc) COF has brought me.
thank you for your dedication. thank you. thank you. thank you!
    ...and many more!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, thank you Craig for all the tireless (often thankless) work you do to bring us all the news and minutae about the world's greatest band!

P.S. who is that on the video at 2:49?

    ReplyDelete
  32. i was 16 in the summer of 96 when i discover COF, i think it was a week before the band's performance with Letterman. WMS was the first album that i bought, i friend of mine told me that she knew this guy who owned a record store here in Mexicali and that she could get me the album and i could pay him later. Awesome. When i got the record i ran for 15 minutes (MXL'S really hot for doing that)to my house just to listen to it. GREAT MEMORY.

  33. Thanks for all you do and have done for making the Cure community truly a "community." Your hard work is appreciated! I would have finished my dissertation about six months sooner if it had not been for COF. This site continues to be my favorite distraction. Thanks again for the service you provide Cure fans everywhere.

  37. Craig, Thanks for the hard work and dedication going into CoF!! I couldn't tell you how long it has been since CoF started as that was a long time ago. But WMS era rings a bell in my head. Didn't you run a Cure mailing list prior to that? I remember a list at one point way back. Or maybe you were a member of the same list and not the owner. If I recall, you was working for Motorola at the time. Tnx, Greg

  38. Spilt Milk is a fine tune & that’s a cracking compilation video – the memories come flooding back.

I echo the other words mentioned here Craig – COF is my first port of call each morning – thanks & cheers

  40. It was the DreamTour that introduced me to COF, even that feels like FOREVER ago.
Craig and COF changed my life forever! New friends sharing a common passion, I cannot imagine my life without the "Craig to Jo" talk of 2007! How my world changed!!

    Thanks for EVERYTHING, Craig.

    Love,
    "Jo"

  42. Thanks Craig, this has been a very useful and interesting site for a long time now.

But what's that song in the video?!?

And why haven't I heard it before?

    ReplyDelete
  43. 15 years! Wow! Thought I'd take this opportunity to say thank you for all the work! I rarely comment on anything, but I do check the site everyday (as every good cure fan should!) and it's excellent. Thank you!

  44. @Pete - the song is Spilt Milk.... a b-side

  45. Thank you once again to each and every one of you fantastic people! You have all helped me so much over these past 15 years, and I truly doubt CoF would be half as useful, friendly, or so enjoyable to maintain, without all of your help, contributions, and friendship through the years.

    So again, THANK YOU!

Now, let's hope we get to help each other out a LOT more over the next year or so. Get those fingers & toes crossed now, and keep them that way for a few more months. : )

    ReplyDelete
  46. Greg: Yeah, CoF was started during the WMS era, but I didn't run any of the mailing lists. I was a member of Babble and Descent, and did post news and updates there before starting CoF.

Babble was run by Nancy Everson and Descent by Alia Rayl. Hope I have those names right.

Didn't work for Motorola, that must have been another Craig. Maybe Craig Hogan, who ran the Cure Tabs page? Or Craig Pepper from Australia? I'm not sure. There were 4 or 5 Craigs running around back then. : )

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thank you Craig for your years of dedication to this site. We would be lost without you!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Does anyone remember Todd/Stranger from the Babble/Descent lists? And the arguments he used to have with the band in 95/96?

He was very critical of Jason (yes, the Jason bashing has been there from the very start), and Simon actually sent a message to the list, telling him in the politest way possible that he had read his complaints, considered them, and decided that Todd should "fuck off". : )

I laughed my ass off for hours! If there was any doubt of Simon's awesomeness, it was completely erased at that moment. : )

It was just the way Simon said it so politely, yet was so matter of fact about it. And Todd was being a bit of a jerk, so he deserved it.

Were any of you members of the Prodigy computer service in 1992? I think that was my very first time getting to talk to other Cure fans online, the first place I ever posted a review (Wish Tour New Orleans), and the first place I found people to trade Cure live shows with. Loved Prodigy and my old IBM PS/1 & PS/2!

Man, I am feeling very old today. : )

  49. thanks for having the best curesite/blog! I check the curenews here everyday and have been doing so since 1997. It was actually seeing the cure for the first time in '96 that interested me in getting a home computer so I could find out more about this fantastic band I had developed a passion for! the video is very good rendal! thanks!

  58. Craig, You are clearing the cob webs in the brain. Pushing 50 ain't easy. :) Yes, I remember Nancy. I don't remember if I was on just one or both mailing list.

Pretty sure it was Craig Hogan then as he was in Chandler, AZ at the time. Hogan looks familiar now that you mention it.

  60. Sorry to be a little late but Congrats to Craig for 15 FANTASTIC YEARS of the COF! Thanks Craig for all of your hard work and dedication to getting the news out about The Cure! You have the best Fan Based Cure website and it always will be! I started checking out the site about 10 years ago and I haven't always kept up with the site on a daily basis over the years (non cure life gets in the way) but every time I do get back on I love catching up with all things Cure! Good Luck & Best Wishes for many more FANTASTIC YEARS of the COF! Looking forward to see what will happen with the CURE in the future through your web site! I really do think you should be running the official site too! Hugs!!! So much love from everyone, it’s so nice to see you have so many followers & fans! Thanks again!

  61. Craig-

I'm sorry this is a little late. I don't come by as often as I used to... but you're still always my first stop for Cure news (even before their own page!). I, too, have been following you since those long-ago days on CompuServe. It seems like just yesterday I sent you an email for the 10th anniversary of COF. Five years can't have passed that quickly!

Congratulations on 15 wonderful years. We all hope you're around as long as there are Cure fans to be informed.

    Much love & admiration,
    Snow In Summer
