Caution on buying tickets

To those of you who are not going to the shows, but were going to try to help buy tickets, and then sell them to fans who are, you might need to rethink those plans. Maggie went ahead and did a practice run with Bat For Lashes tickets, and noticed that the only delivery option was "Hold For Collection". No shipping or print at home options. I tried it with several other Vivid shows and got the same result. So if you are not going to be at the show to pick up the tickets, please don't buy them. (Thanks Maggie)

  1. Although I have not had to do it, I have contacted the Opera House about this in the past. It seems that if you cannot make it to the show, you can contact the Opera House box office and change the name on the ticket. I received an email from them saying that "we can certainly arrange for your friends to collect these tickets for you. Please let us know the names of the people and we will update our records to show that they are authorised to do this." This can be done either via email or by phone. Then in order to collect the tickets, you need to show Photo ID that matches the name on the ticket. If you have any doubts, email them at SydneyOperaHouseBoxOffice@sydneyoperahouse.com to double check

  2. Thanks again, Grinderman! But do you need to show the credit card that was used to purchase the tickets? You have to show that in the states, along with a photo ID.

  3. When you purchase the ticket, you need to make an account on the website by submitting your email address. If you select the "Hold For Collection" option, you are sent a receipt to that email address. The email, while being a receipt for the tickets (and not the tickets themselves) also states: "please print this confirmation and present it at the Sydney Opera House Box Office when collecting your tickets. If you do not have access to a printer please have the credit card used to purchase the tickets with you when collecting tickets." So either the credit card, photo ID or the receipt that is sent to the email address can be used, but it sounds as though the printed receipt is preferred. I still suggest arranging to get the name changed though, just in case they do ask for identification.

  4. I hope scalpers don't read this, though.

  5. Muld: Don't worry, the scalpers already know all of these "tricks". This is just the fans fighting back, and trying to beat them at their own game.

Grinderman: Thanks again. Your tips and advice have been a real help to everyone.

  6. man, I feel chaos coming on Wednesday morning... tickets should be awarded in direct proportion to the amount of money already spent on the band throughout the years I say...

  7. I agree with MI68, it's pains me to think that non-diehard fans would get tix, and not understand the significance of 'the event... esp in regards to Roger & Lol being on stage.,

  8. Does anyone know if there is going to be any backstage passes?? And if there is how do you get them and how much are they??

  9. linda,
backstage passes usually aren't for sale. the few times i've gotten backstage passes were when i had an "in" because i knew somebody (a caterer, someone in the band, an a&r person etc.) there are other, less savory ways to get them. read "i'm with the band" by pamela des barre

  10. sofia,
thanks for that. I think i will leave the less savory ways alone :)

  11. Scalpers have started with the complementary/corporate tix.

    $299 each.

  12. Hi Craig
Thanks for all your help with this and also just in general with Chain Of Flowers throughout the years without it i think we might all have given up hope at some stage.

Are you going to make the concert in Sydney? Would be great to finally meet you and buy you a well deserved drink or two :-)

    Thanks
    Tony (IrishCure)

  13. Thank you for the very kind offer, Tony, but I won't be making the trip to Australia. Maybe this is the start of many more shows in the near future, and we can all meet up next year. : )
