Okay, you asked for it, and here's our best effort. The unofficial lyrics for 4:13 Dream. Plenty of mistakes, I'm sure, and plenty of holes still to fill in (especially on It's Over), but it's a very good start, I think. Hope it helps you, as you rock out to the new songs. And as always, a million thanks to V for working with me on this.
Update: The lyrics have been updated with the album versions now. : ) Still have to work on parts of THANWY, and It's Over (an impossible song!).

THANK YOU (Craig and V)
ReplyDeleteGreat work as always
I unequivocally second that!!
ReplyDeleteGreat Work, many thanks ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDelete(I presume the lyrics will be included in the record's liner notes?)
Yay! We have a kimono thrown in the mix, continuing a great Cure tradition. Japanese babies...Japanese dreams... Kyoto Song...neon bright Tokyo lights...blood red Tokyo beds...and now Kimonos!! And lets not forget the Mint Car video where a mean looking Samurai dude interupts a family eating oranges to chase the daughter around the room. Nice.
ReplyDeleteJanets slippers?
ReplyDeleteJames flippers?
JAPANESE WHISPERS.
Almost forgot that one.
Those are brilliant lyrics.
ReplyDeleteI have bits and pieces of these songs running through my head all day.
The Cure gives me such strange comfort.
i'm gonna go smoke a bowl and a blunt and listen to 'it's over.'
ReplyDeleteTHANKS A BUNCH!!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have these :)
craig - there was a price drop apparently at Amazon.com for 4:13 Dream. It is now $10.99.
ReplyDeletemy girlfried bought it for $11.49. I'm going to call them up and ask if i get the new price or not.
Oh wow, i love the lyrics to The Scream a lot! It's been getting stuck in my head a lot (along with hungry ghost)
ReplyDeleteMight have to change my vote... again XD
Thanks again for the lyrics!!
Andy,
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered through Amazon.com. They provide a "pre-order price guarantee" service... so your girlfriend's order will be adjusted accordingly.
Absolutely love these lyrics, especially the ones I've heard sung. Just starting to get a little depressed now. I'm waiting so painfully. Still 10 days to go.
ReplyDelete*very deep sigh*
great deciphering skills guys, it will be interesting to see how close they match.
ReplyDeletekate - thanks, i just finished checking her invoice online and it matched the new price. however, even though it says its released on october 28th, it says delivery estimate: October 31, 2008
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
ReplyDeleteoh no, Andy!
ReplyDeleteI have pre-ordered in the past. Most of the time, I received the item on the day or day after the release.
Lately, though, I have received the item later. Not good.
Do you think they changed their released shipping?
well, it's my birthday today, and my girlfriend got it for me but told me since it's not released yet that i would have to wait. i expected it to come on the day of or the 29th, but i guess i'll have to wait longer. i'll just "illegaly" download it when it is released, feeling okay about it since i know i preordered it.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to even contemplate waiting beyond the 25th
ReplyDeleteScotty beam me to the 25th NOW please
i hope someone from germany or italy put it online on the 24th! i need it! 4 days early is good. heck, im surprised it hasn't leaked yet.
ReplyDeletei believe i'm skipping work on the 28th so i can go to amoeba, wait til they open, race screaming to the C aisle and kill anybody that gets in my way as i run to the register, cash in hand.
ReplyDeletethen i'll race back home, ignoring all crosswalks and traffic signals, slip into my warm cocoon of noise- canceling headphonic bliss, spacing out on the sofa, turning off the telephone and locking the doors tight against all intrusions.
Happy Birthday, Andy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Craig and V !!!.
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary job.
This lyrics give us a real clue of what`s RSx singing.
:)
By the way:
ReplyDeleteHappy CURE-ish Birhtday ANDY.
Cheers to you.
;)
thanks guys. i'm 20 today. can't wait for my 4:13 Dream.
ReplyDeletecraig - of all these handsome gentlemen, which one is you?
ReplyDeletelink
Hi, Swifty! Thank you for mentioning so many "Japan" are in the lyrics, the title and even in the video. I completely forgot about it. Dose Robert feel something special toward Japan? I'm so proud being a Japanese.;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I forgot to say thank you, Craig and V. It must have been hard work. I'm always impressed how devoted you are!
ReplyDeleteHi Jun-chan
ReplyDeleteRobert definitely has very fond feelings of Japan. And so he should. Its the nicest country in the world. So you have every reason to be proud. But I really don't know why he didn't tour there for 20 years. ???!!!
Haha! I've been waiting for the day when Craig and V tried to figure out It's Over (BRDB). You both did an excellent job and it's just about how I expected it would turn out :)
ReplyDeleteI love this album already.....sooo much.
Thanks for the lyrics!!!
Yes, that's the point, Swifty. If Robert is fond of Japan, why didn't he never come back to Japan after their visit in 1987 (promotion only, no shows) until last year? That's what I (& other Cure fans in Japan) really want to ask him about.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that your transcription for The Hungry Ghost is somewhat different than what Chris, DJ, and I figured out. I guess we'll see who's closest soon enough. :)
ReplyDeleteThank You!
ReplyDeletethanks for the lyrics!
ReplyDeletebest since wish! i'm so impressed :D
Maybe no Japanese hotels would have The Cure stay there after that episode with Andy the drummer.
ReplyDelete"Watch out! Wild man in there."
So hang on shawn/chris/dj, craig had a question mark after kimono, did you hear a different word to kimino?,... maybe yoko ono..
ReplyDeleteJust have to pop in and say that I am totally and utterly shocked at that "Switch" has the least votes in the current poll. Shocked.
ReplyDeleteI voted it as my fav, but I'm considering switching (haha) my vote to The Scream.
I'd rank the songs as follows:
Switch
The Scream
The Hungry Ghost
The Reasons Why
The Real Snow White
Sirensong
This. Here and Now. With You.
The last one is the only one I really don't care for, but the rest are so incredibly solid.
Yeah! Andy the Wild Man! Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I've noticed that Robert changed the lyrics of It's Over in the Rome show. "I lost another line" in the last part was "there's something going on" in the MSG show. Does it mean he revised the lyrics after the US tour? Or Robert simply forgot the lyrics and improvised it while confessing he actually lost the line? :op
Happy Birthday Andy! Make it a good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig & V for the lyrics! Excellent job! That must have been a lot of fun to do. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll do the same as MB, take off on the 28th, go out to the mall get the cd as soon as the record store opens and then rush home to listen to it. All I have to do is find the extra time to take off. Oh hell if I can't get off, I'll just to go to work, get the cd at lunch & play it over & over all afternoon till it makes my co-workers puke. No one really likes The Cure or even knows who they are there! And my corner of the office is dark enough to get into The Cure Mood too!
Happy Birthday Andy! Have a Great Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat an effort! Thanks Craig and V for the hard work and effort.
ReplyDeleteThe Scream is growing on me - lyrically more than musically!
BRDB is so strong. This is the most powerful album start to finish possibly ever. Disintegration's "B side" isn't even as strong.
RSx still has all the same torment in his work. You are left with that same uncomfortableness with his general contentedness.
Craig - keep up the good work!
I am with you on that, Todd... Switch got my vote, and I am amazed it's not getting more love! It's my clear fave of the new new ones!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSwitch got mine too after first listen. Porl's guitar work unreal.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the more I listen to all the new songs the more I like all the songs. I now find it impossible to rank the "new new" songs. The only one of the whole 13 I'm not so keen on is Perfect Boy - and I don't dislike that!
I think the whole is greater than the sum of the parts with the album hanging together really well and if the dark side holds together as well.........
Just listened to "Switch" again and I really wish they'd have extended it a bit longer. It has a similar quality as FTEOTDGS and it could've used an extended solo or another bridge or something. I just want it to go on forever and it stops too quickly. I feel like it's going to be the centerpiece of the album for me.
ReplyDeleteRobert, are you nuts? Side B of Disintegration is the best side on the album, and my favorite side of any record ever! :P
ReplyDeleteBut agreed, this is a dang solid album with only one song I don't really care for and 12 that could all become Cure classics.
Happy Birthday Andy! Damn I cant believe youre 20 already. Anyway I hope you have a great day man. Take care.
ReplyDeleteTodd,
ReplyDeleteYou miss my point! I have posted on here and have told anyone who will listen (and many who won't) that Disintegration is THE DEFINITIVE album of all time, any artist! FFSake I have the picture disc hanging on my living room wall and have bought furniture to match it! I'm saying the the second half of 4:13Dream has the potential to be even more powerful than a collection of songs with "Disintegration" itself in the middle of them....
08 SWITCH
09 THE PERFECT BOY
10 THIS. HERE AND NOW. WITH YOU
11 SLEEP WHEN I’M DEAD
12 THE SCREAM
13 IT’S OVER
This bunch rock especially the last three tracks! Disintegration closes out more soulfully!
Side A of Dis' is better!
I guess I did miss your point, robert, and to be honest I'm still not sure I get it, but that's ok, it's probably just my own horrible reading comprehension! So you're just saying that side b of Dream could prove to be more powerful than side B of Dis, but not necessarily better, per se?
ReplyDeleteEh, it doesn't matter. The fact is that I agree that side b of Dream is going to kick some serious butt!
"FFSake I have the picture disc hanging on my living room wall and have bought furniture to match it!"
ReplyDeleteROFL, that's hardcore, lol.
Todd:
ReplyDeleteKick ass it will...and I've forgotten my ow point now..TBH I am just so excited about the new album I'm not making any sense in any aspect of my life right now!
To clarify:
Best album ever = Disintegration
Most exciting, breathtaking, butt kicking second half of an album = 4:13 Dream!
craig - i'm probably way off, but in Switch on your line "To the mirror man I scream, at me out of spite"
ReplyDeletei hear,
"to the Miramax screen..."
It makes sense to me since "none of my favorite things" is in the line before. maybe Robert likes movies?
Um, no. : )
ReplyDeleteThough that would be yet another Disney reference. ;)
ReplyDelete(But no, I also stand by my mirrorman. ;) )
Thanks Craig & V for the lyrics--Now hopefully Robert will post the "real" lyrics soon to correct all the confusion like he did with the lyrics for the singles :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig and V for the lyrics. When I get to listen to the new tracks (for the first time on the 25th October), I look forward to listening with your translation on hand.
ReplyDeleteexcellentissimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lyrics
In Switch - it's
ReplyDelete"to the mirror man screaming at me, and (at?) me in the spite light
Another (wise dog/doll?).."
im hearing swallow doubt in hungry ghost and laughing men in the reasons why ..
ReplyDeleteam i the only one not getting anything from its over? definately the weakest track since before3 for me ... especially when its preceded by a killer song like scream
So, Before 3 is weak?
ReplyDeletelol I love this song.
And I do love It's Over. It rules.
But I guess we're polar opposite in the matter... funny how Cure tastes ranges far and wide. But in a good way.
indeed hynreck..yeah not getting before3 at all .. worst song they ever done lol but they cany get it right everytime i guess
ReplyDeleteclosely followed by its over ,, no matter if its called baby rag doggy poo or not
ReplyDeletestill 12 outta 13 pretty good goin im thinking so far
ReplyDeleteShock!! I love Before Three, which along with Going Nowhere and Anniversary from TC,are right in the mix for my topten.
ReplyDeletetheres just no tune! lol .. i shall nt say anymore , dont want you fallin over n hurtin yerself
ReplyDeleteSwifty:
ReplyDeleteCraig and V got: "Kimono ? for a print"
Chris, DJ, and I got: "A moan or choral for her prince"
Thanks! Lets way and see, Shawn-w
ReplyDelete"A Kimono for a Prince" would be cool bananas B^>
On Sirensong I think he says
ReplyDelete"I was stupified, and I was drunk."
shawn - i blasted the volume at 100 on headphones last night, we misheard and changed the lyrics. i think theyre mostly right this time!
ReplyDeleteSshawn emailed me the lyrics....I think you have a great ear, dj :)
ReplyDeleteA humble contribution to the words of the real snow white : Robert doesn't sing : 'you got what I want', but 'you've got what I want'
ReplyDeletebecause he's English, not American. Well, anyway, listen again and you'll hear it loud and clear.
