  1. I have no idea why they even bother to release singles in the UK.

I have seen no promotion for any of the singles thus far and I doubt it will change.

That said, I think the album will do OK.

  2. i think the album will open at number 13 with 33,000 copies sold. no pun intended.

  3. I don't care about the singles charts.. yeah it's nice to see them on it, but makes no difference to meeeee ...

  4. I agree. Who cares about the charts anymore? Remember when we are all like 11 and the world revolved around the Weekly Top 40 radio show? Now, I honestly couldn't tell you any song or any song or artist that is in the Top 40.

Besides, The Cure does just fine without having super smash hits at the top of the charts. And it wouldn't be much fun to share The Cure with all these newbies saying, "You've only loved them since Freakshow? I've loved The Cure ever since they put released The Only One!!" :)

  5. Jeepers, I must still be numb from all my job-search anxiety drugs. I only had about 100 non-sensical typos in the last post :)

  6. I don't care about charts. In the US they are filled with PUNKS that couldnt' tell a guitar from their schlongs...

All I know is that when this album is out, I will be the happiest girl this side of America.

I am so into CURE MODE right now, it's worrying my husband.

The new songs are brilliant and full of melody......

Underneath the Stars will be one of the greatest Cure songs of all time......I can tell already. The tune won't leave my head.

  9. While I don't follow charts on a regular basis, it's nice to see that The Cure are selling.

  10. I never really paid much attention to single charts but it's good to know The Cure are selling the singles. I looked at the Billboard Charts & I don't even know 95% of the groups/artists on the Hot 100 Chart. Looks like a lot of rap stuff & teeny bopper shit. I always thought album sales were more important.

UTS will definitely be considered one of The Cure’s all time best songs! It’s destined to be a Classic!!!!

  11. I try to have the "I don't care" attitude about the charts, but I suppose it's the last sad trace elements of the teenager in me that is secretly disappointed not to see them having even a little chart success in the UK. In reality it would be probably be like Dumb Anguish said with "you've only loved them since Freakshow" stuff happening. Who needs it?

  12. Yeah... when I was younger charts meant everything... now they mean nothing. It's a bit sad even though I always felt the gimmick was stupid and pointless in a "we'll decide what the masses should listen to" kind of way.
...really, though, the only thing I dread is the day cd's are not sold anymore, when everything is a download that can't be hold...

  13. Hey, Chris(tinap)...

I keep missing you, you late-nighter! :) We have gone through our photos from New York, and some of them with you (and Julien) are really good.

Let me know if you would like me to send you the files. I would be happy to share them!

Absolutely! I go one further than that as an unashamed vinyl stoic. I only replaced 3IB, Faith, The Top, HOTD and Kiss Me on CD when the enhanced versions came out!

  16. I'm not sure that anyone really buys or releases physical singles in the UK any more. Freakshow was at number 3 in the physical single charts in my local HMV, but they only had about 10 singles in the whole shop...

  17. Chris,

The photos include the ones sent to Craig. But, there are others that are not posted...

  18. Yeah, it's the same here in Canada, it's very hard to find singles anymore, it's going the way of the dodo.
...I'd hate to be a vinyl collector today. I mean, I do see a bit more special releases than back in the days... but the pain, the psychological torture, not sure I could go through it!

  19. When I first called around to retail stores in my area searching for the singles, one customer service person actually said "I didn't think they even made singles anymore" I corrected him.

I ended up just ordering from Amazon.com Yeesh!

  21. Most of the stores in my area like Best Buy, Circuit City and other chain music stores do not carry a wide assortment of singles anymore. Both Freakshow & The Only One were no-where to be seen anywhere. Not Best Buy, Circuit City etc..... I even had a few people in these stores who said The Cure weren’t even together anymore??? Like get your head out of under the rock, they are still together!!!

So now I just buy everything on-line. I really do miss all of the independent record stores that used to be around years ago. People who worked in those stores knew what the were talking about & if they didn’t, at least they were able to find out the information you needed.

  23. cure_kitty: i have a kick-ass indie record store close to my home... i never patronize the big ones unless forced by circumstances... maybe you can see if there is something you can patronize other than the greedy chains

criminal records is the name of my local store... it kicks so much fucking ass

  25. I ended up ordering from amazon too. I'm not gonna get Freakshow till SWID comes out. Sigh... But at least I'm gonna have more love at once when that package arrives.
