More tickets added for Minneapolis

Note: For the fans who've bought tickets and are upset about the changes, if you try for new tickets today, and need to sell your old ones, just let me know and I'll be happy to help with that. Post them in the tickets for sale post, or email the info to me, and I'll also post it here and on Twitter for you.

From the official site:

WE HAVE BEEN BLOWN AWAY BY THE RESPONSE TO OUR JUNE 7TH SHOW AT THE XCEL ENERGY CENTER MINNEAPOLIS-ST PAUL - THANK YOU!

WHEN WE SAW HOW OVERWHELMING THE DEMAND WAS IN THE PRE-SALE, WE DID OUR BEST TO MEET IT BY SLIGHTLY INCREASING THE CAPACITY FOR THE PUBLIC ONSALE, BUT APPARENTLY IT WAS NOT NEARLY ENOUGH…

SO AS A GESTURE OF GOODWILL TO THE MANY FANS THAT HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN THEIR BID TO GET TICKETS, WE HAVE TAKEN THE VERY UNUSUAL STEP OF AGREEING TO 'PUSH THE STAGE BACK' EVEN FURTHER IN ORDER TO FREE UP MORE SEATS

THIS WILL INEVITABLY MEAN THAT SOME FANS ALREADY WITH TICKETS WILL BE A BIT FURTHER AWAY FROM THE STAGE, BUT IT WILL ALSO MEAN THAT THE MANY FANS WITHOUT TICKETS WILL NOW GET A (SECOND) CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THE SHOW

WE REALLY HOPE THIS DOESNT CAUSE ANYONE ANY UPSET – AND WE PROMISE THE CONCERT WILL BE GREAT WHEREVER YOU ARE IN THE VENUE!!!

THE NEW ONSALE WILL BE MONDAY 21ST MARCH @ MIDDAY CT

6/7: St. Paul, MN
Xcel Energy Center
On Sale: Monday, 3/21 @12pm CDT / 5pm GMT

SEE YOU ALL SOON...

  1. Why do I find this statement so endearing? Wondering if I can add a 9th show to my list (as my bank account echoes)...

    1. Endearing as it may be, this is a total slap in the face to just about anyone that already bought tickets. Pushing the stage back and opening up the "new" sections of seats means that now *everyone* else that had tickets before is located further from the stage.

This is being handled in a completely nonsensical manner. They could have looked at virtually every other show on the tour to realize that 5,000 seats just wasn't going to satisfy demand...

    2. Just want to add that floor tickets are exempt from the above. All lower/upper bowl ticket holders will be potentially twice as far from the stage. That doesn't sound fair at all to me. Those people should be placed in closer sections.

    3. Disagree about knowing that 5,000 seats wouldn't meet the demand. They haven't played that market in 20 years, and the last time they played there in 1996, they only sold 4,438 tickets in a 10,000 seat arena (Target Center). What would make them think they'd do better this time? No new album, no promotion from a record company, no radio support, so I'm sure the promoters and band wanted to play it safe.

  3. Wish they could do that for nyc, I don't think their doing full arena shows for those.

    1. Looking at the seating chart on TM, they are using the full arena setup.

    2. Hm it's odd because on stubhub none of the nyc shows have seats for entire arena just half arena.

    3. Oh I think I see what you mean. The stage is set up all the way at the end (full house), but they're not selling tickets behind the stage. Is that what you mean? That's pretty common, and there's a chance they'll release some of those seats on the side, closer to the show.

The difference with Minneapolis is that they started with the half house setup for the presale, where the stage is literally in the middle of the arena, and only one half of the arena is used.

Presale sold so well that they pushed the stage back a bit more and used the 3/4 house setup for the general on sale.

Since that sold out, they've pushed the stage all the way to the back of the arena and are doing the full house setup now.

In NYC, it was a full house setup from the beginning, so no way to move the stage further back.

    4. Yeah that makes sense, I've seen that before but I didn't connect it with that show. Hopefully they do release nore, I got ticketmaster gift cards for xmas specifically for the cure tour and unfortunately it was all sold out before toronto got announced last week. For two weeks I kept checking msg and it was only coming up with side view tickets and then finally one in a good section showed up but I waited due to toronto an dB got burned.

  4. Oh dear. They misspelled BOSTON as MINNEAPOLIS.

  7. On an opposite (but related) note, the Honolulu shows are selling poorly. The 2nd show isn't selling much at all. Most of the 1st show seems to be listed on resale websites. I have tix to both shows, but I'm afraid to spend more money to fly to HNL (and hotel) if there is a chance of cancellation for one or both of these shows. Opinions?

    1. Wait until a couple of months before the shows to book your flight and accommodations.

    2. how is the fact that the 1st Honolulu show listed on resale sites an indication it's not selling well?? All three NYC shows are on resale. All 3 Hollywood Bowl shows are on resale. Both Chicago shows are on resale. It's how the industry is these days. I have no fear that these arenas are going to be empty at showtime.

    4. unknown- concert tickets appear at resale sites before they even go on sale at regular ticket sites, so that's hardly an argument.

    5. Fair point about the 1st show, but that doesn't translate to actual bodies in seats. Entire rows are up for re-sale, and having lived in HNL for 7 years in the 90s, I can tell you it's not a very Cure-ish sort of town. You can still get Row 13 for the 2nd show, and TM even turned off the feature that allows you to choose seats directly (presumably to hide the fact that it's not selling). I really HOPE it sells better! But, will they cancel the showl if it doesn't sell many tickets? That's what I'm trying to guesstimate. Not that I wouldn't like a Hawaiian vacation in any case....

I should hardly think that RS, or literally any other artist (except maybe Janet Jackson) would book arenas, for an extended run, if there wasn't an interest.
Example: the Minneapolis gig. They had to re-lay the floor seats per high demand. Again, there are numerous sellout son this tour - and they're all listed on stubhub. These arenas won't be half full in the night.

  8. And as an aside - According to Ticketone.IT - all four Italian gigs are sold out.

  10. FYI...it appears that KMKMKM is being repressed on vinyl and is up for pre-order here: https://www.srcvinyl.com/music/newreleases/the-cure-kiss-me-kiss-me-kiss-me-2xlp.html

Now everyone can start speculating that this tour is about playing this record live...or...since they pressed it for RSD 2014, or they just put the plates back on pumped out more copies on black vinyl this time to sell around the tour.

  11. My bad, it pressed for RSD 2013. More places to pre-order from here:

    http://www.soundstagedirect.com/the-cure-kiss-me-kiss-me-kiss-me-180-gram-vinyl-records.shtml

This site says that it is pressed on red vinyl, just like the RSD 2013 version
