  2. This is always going to be my favourite song and The Cure an enduring symbol of my own fleeting, beautiful, sad youth but Robert Smith looks straight up homeless

    1. I'm not one to voice strong opinions, but I find it incredibly disrespectful to say the lead singer of the band who created your favorite song ever looks "straight up homeless." I have the utmost respect for Robert Smith as the creative mastermind behind the Cure. They are my favorite band for all time. Robert's appearance has, quite arguably, gotten increasingly unkempt and weird over the years, but I admire his individuality and his daring to be different from the rest...

    2. Well, probably you don't have much respect for homeless people? If I was a homeless person I would feel quite insulted if someone points out that being called "looking like a homeless" was "incredibly disrespectful",don't you think? If someone said Robert looks quite gay, wouldn't it be quite disrespectful towards gay people if you say calling Robert gay was very disrespectful towards Robert? See what I mean? You presume being and7or looking homeless is something bad, ugly and inacceptable (unless you are creatiuve mastermind in whatever, then you are excused)

    5. millhaus, you have a good point. I have no ill regard for homeless people. I think I overreacted, but let's be honest with ourselves. Aren't we really arguing over the 'intent' of the words as they are used? If someone says Robert looks 'straight up homeless,' don't you think there is an 'intent' of a derogatory remark based on the way it is written? At least, I thought so. Maybe I misunderstood. I just personally felt it was a negative comment...But maybe I was wrong about the intent of said comment...

    6. OK this is sorta funny.

Anyhoo, between the full-blown 'goth Donald Trump' coif and awkward-enough clothes, I thought it was a pretty casual observation. On the contrary, someone should prob check Simon's attic for a disfigured old painting of Dorian Gray because dude is looking fierce.

That said, that's not why I love this band or practically have a shrine to them in my crap IKEA Expedit.

Anyway for the record, I was homeless as a teen and honestly nothing in here would have bothered me because you quickly discover very real, constant, scary concerns in that situation... so throw your foot y'all, laugh a little, cheers.

Hope we all get at least one on those new records this year!

    7. My apologies C. Thank you for your explanation. The truth is I was in a mood that day and feeling a bit feisty ;-) Happy New Year 2015! Cheers. Here's hoping for the Reflections Concert release this year! I am dying to see it on DVD or Blu-ray!

  4. I'm sure Robert is way past being bothered by comments on his look.

  5. Hate the way a person cant put up any sort of opinion or comment these days without being ethically correct. So what if RS reminds someone of a homeless person....its their opinion, get over it!.....Que the backlash....
Now back to the real point...great post, thanks for sharing the footage.

    1. Had a bad day. Not my usual style. Robert doesn't need anyone defending his 'look.' My apologies. Now let's move on to something completely different and get over it !! :-)
