I would REALLY like the schedule. All I know is The Cure closes Friday, and my wife's childhood friend is opening the festival Friday morning, so it looks like we will have to be there all day.
Yeah, the set times are supposed to be announced sometime today, but they haven't said what time that will be. I'll have them posted just as soon as they announce them.
Festival ends at 10pm, so The Cure should be 8 - 10pm, but hoping they get to go on at 7 or 7:30.
Sorry, L38, BottleRock has asked me not to post the set times yet. They are not finalized yet. So I've deleted that part of your post. Here's the rest of it:
"The city of Napa is not putting up any cash. The new promoters are paying the city more than 200k this year and paying 107k of the last promoter's debt to the city. They also paid the Expo more than 1m this year including 311k for the bill owed to the Expo by previous promoters. Last year the debt was more than 9m, not 4m. The new promoters have eliminated almost 5m of the old promoter's debt. Debt that that they did not create but eliminated nonetheless."
No, just Googled to see if they'd published it yet. Their fault for publishing a work in progress. ;-) Still, it's looking like we'll get a long set. It's not uncommon for festivals in the area to let their headliners start early, play late, etc.
So their website says the music ends at 10 PM. Do you, or anyone else, know if they are lenient about bands breaking that? Or will they get the plug pulled on them again if they try to play longer?
I've never been to a show in the area where the plug was literally pulled. I *have* waited for encores only to the have the house/field lights come on, but I suspect that has more to do with allowing Elvis to leave the building uninterrupted than it does with keeping curfews.
I don't live in Napa, so I'm not sure what the city itself will allow. It's a quiet, obviously upscale, mostly rural community. An early start is probably a better bet than a late finish.
Also, customer service fail on the BottleRock web site. There's a big, bold "ACCESS DENIED" where there should be a "DON"T PANIC" in large, friendly letters.
Json should get some kind of award for playing the drums for 2.5hrs... ok, maybe not an award but a gift basket or something (ney man, its easy to play the guitar all night)

I'm worried all around for this festival. Last year they lost something like 4 million dollars and vendors didn't get paid.
ReplyDeleteThis year the City of Napa is putting up some cash, and a different promoter but so far I'm not impressed.

The information I had was 3rd hand from a friend of a friend of a friend who was involved last year.
DeleteShould have added a grain of salt with my first post.
So... WTF... NOTHING? CURE STRONGLY NEGOTIATING THAT EXTRA HALF HOUR I HOPE...?
ReplyDeleteI just asked if we are getting it tonight, and was told "Hang, Craig! We're working hard to get everything finalized & posted!"
DeleteSo just hang, dudes! :)
I followed up to ask if it would still be announced tonight, and they replied "Crossing fingers!".
DeleteI'm not holding my breath it will happen tonight...
ReplyDeleteSorry, Trev, I was asked to remove that link. How did you find it? Just guessing the URL?

DeleteI'm a little worried that The cure isnt listed on the bottlerock schedule page.
ReplyDeleteNo need to worry. Some info was posted that shouldn't have been seen by us. They are still working on the schedule.
DeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteCANNOT WAIT! Now, if only we could get a sneak peek at the setlist! :) WISHful thinking.....
