20 years of News, rumors, minutiae about The Cure
I don't think the original song should be classified as "terrible classic rock," but to each their own misguided opinion, I guess.
they're not talking about the original. it's "terrible classic rock covers", not "covers of terrible clasdic rock." learn to read.

"Completely misses the point"? That WRITER completely misses the point. New for you, writer: Robert Smith's knows more in his pinkie fingernail about what it's like to actually experience purple haze than you probably ever will and it is perfectly expressed in this brilliant re-envisioning. You're a writer who doesn't even know enough not to use confusing grammar in your column title.
the grammar isn't confusing. "classic rock covers" is the noun/subject. "terrible" is the adjective modifying that noun. and it's accurate. unlistenable cover...and i have no problem with a "reimagining."
I think the Virgin Radio version ended up sounding a lot better than the Stone Free version.
Terrible? My father is a huge Hendrix fan and not a Cure fan, and he really likes The Cure's cover on the 'Stone Free' tribute album.
I noticed that the writer also disrespected Type O Negative's cover of 'Summer Breeze'. That's also a really good cover.
They're right. It IS terrible as is 'Young Americans' and 'Hello I love You'.'Don't believe a word' on the other hand, was fab.
Dead on... It sucked. :p
