    1. why you think you can talk for the rest of the world? i always despised Reeves Gabrles guitar playing so i'm not happy AT ALL that he's in the band. i want the Cure with 2 guitars but not RG.

  10. Hi there, glad that most of you like this video. I was soooo suprised to witness that special moment. Roger and Reeves do a fantastic job in my view. Hopefully they gonna play more from the Top...another trilogy?:)

  11. actually now that i'm listening to the webcast i have to agree that the band sounds great. the stupid electronic sounds on backing tracks are gone and Reeves Gabrels is trying to play the song as they are on the albums. Unstuck was so great that it made me cry with joy. i hope RG keeps on playing respecting the Cure sound and that he'll not start with the guitar wankery i had to listen to Bowie shows and records.

    1. But the recent Porl's wankery was way more annoying, all that pointless wah trying to cover for the keyboard sounds... There were so many highlights in this concert that it's impossible to pinpoint a special moment. Wrong Number was fantastic guitar-wise, Unstuck was great, Bananafishbones was a nice surprise (Wailing Wall? PLEASE?), Want sounded as powerful as ever, Lullaby with an accoustic... Reeves work was quite efficient: discreet when it should be discreet and effusive when required as in Wrong Number.

  12. Top was never my favorite, but it's been so underplayed, it's epic to hear these!

  13. So which other unexpected songs will make the summer sets ? I'm sure that as usual they'll play 60-70 different tracks. So we have the choice. I bet on Underneath The Stars, Out Of This World, The Caterpillar, Fascination Street, The Snakepit, M, Charlotte Sometimes, Cut, Cut Here, Yesterday's Gone, Jupiter Crash, Maybe Someday, The Scream, Primary, The Baby Screams, Sinking, The Promise, Labyrinth, Open, 39, Bloodflowers, Three Imaginary Boys, Killing An Arab, Pornography, The Funeral Party, A Strange Day, Piggy In The Mirror, Hot Hot Hot, Never Enough, Cold, All Cats Are Grey, Lost, End, The Same Deep Water As You, Numb, Dressing Up, The Big Hand, The Exploding Boy, Just One Kiss, Faith, Kyoto Song, One More Time. You like my list ?!

  14. This is so AWESOME this Video! I Love The Top & it was so cool they played Bananafishbones. So hope they play all of the The Top at one of these shows this summer! That would be EPIC!

  15. What's Robert saying at the beginning?

Something about "bigger fish to fry"??? :)

  16. If only we could understand what Robert says during these shows, we would now all know the answer to life, the universe and everything.

But yeah, it seems he's making some sort of fish-related pun, but I can't make out any more than "bigger fish to fry".

  17. but for wrong number is not very good like this better with porl!that right!!

  18. I'm conflicted because I don't like the act of folks sticking up their cameras during a performance (I don't care what they do between songs.) because it obscures people's view for the sake of letting people who didn't pay to see the band enjoy stuff.

However, this was a quite awesome performance of a song I shall likely never see performed. Robert's vocals were especially good.

  19. RG's guitar work on Wrong Number was damn impressive!!

  20. @Craig I'm telling you Reeves is the man! The longer he stays in the band the better they will become. Loved what he bought to Bowie shows in the 90's, bring on his guitar wankery!! :)
Here's an example for anyone interested:

  21. As one who LOVED Porl's 'wankery', I am soooo glad that Reeves is guesting on guitar, as he is the only one (in my mind) who could ably step into Porl's sequinned ruby heels!!

    1. Couldn't agree more. Not sure how Reeves would look in Porl's heels tho!

    2. Hmm, maybe Reeves was the one who bought those shoes and corsets in Porl's auction. : )

    3. Maybe Craig, maybe :) Actually during his time with Bowie Reeves wasn't averse to a few interesting stage costumes. I seem to remember him wearing a kilt and a feather boa at one point!

  22. Sven, thank you for posting this! I have to know, though - what camera are you using? That's amazing quality!

  23. I love this! More songs from The Top pls, I vote for "Piggy in the mirror" ;)

  24. The Top is a very powerful record. I'm still surprised to re discovering Cure work, again and again. I'm really into WMS, TT and 4:13D at the present time. A few weeks ago it was W and D.

  25. OK somehow I missed any news of it--but is Roger back in the band??? I seriously hope so. They really need him. I am glad Reeves isn't a permanent member. I'd stand on my head and eat a bug to have Perry back.
