'Reflections' thoughts from Lol & Roger

From Lol on Facebook: "Finally jet lag free! Just beginning to process the extraordinary events of the last few weeks. A wonderful and emotionally uplifting experience for me. Life is a beautiful journey and as Joe Strummer said "the future is unwritten "

Roger's reply: "It was a privilege and a joy to be a part of this experience with you Lol.. To hear the old stories, relive some old memories and most of all just enjoy the moment. Heres to writing some future together again..." (Thanks Carnage Visors)

  1. Pretty sweet, dontcha think? This made my day when I read it. Actually I will have to say it made my morning, my daughters excellent report card made my day! Family first, then Cure.

  2. it sounds as if they both are back in the fold. I don't think I'm reading too much into this but just look at the words used. Why would you say that about some arbitrary and unrealistic random unlikeliness? If so, AWESOME and totally psyched about the Cure in a way that maybe hasnt been at this level since Wish era and prior.

  5. By all accounts, this was a glorious experience for both the band and the fans. I'm not in touch with fans who are close or particularly obsessive, so I'm basing my thoughts on what Craig has so diligently posted (the guy deserves a gift from the band and from the fans).

Robert, Roger, Simon, Lol, and Jason looked wonderfully healthy and fit to varying degrees. Sure Lol is a bit heavy, but so what? Aging will do that to you. The only thing that matters is that they seemed totally into the gigs, and that it made them very happy to do perform. That the fans were treated to two extraordinary shows was great, but not as important as allowing these legendary, wonderfully gifted artists to do the shows on their terms.

Sure, I would have liked to see Boris there as well, but it didn't happen, so we move on. We are getting what will be a remarkable DVD. How can any reasonable fan not be happy and excited about that?

I'm super delighted to know that Roger and Lol had wonderful experiences. Do I hope for something similar in the USA, of course I do, but getting my greedy hands on the DVD will go a very long way to dissolving any dismay that may result for not getting to see the show.

We are so fortunate to have these gifted artists so passionate about making new art. How could we not be happy and optimistic?

(Sorry, CV, I had to delete and redo the message (technical difficulties).

Craig, I'm not one of your fave COFers, and that is regrettable, but understand that I hold you in very high regard and know without question that you are a dedicated, trustworthy friend of The Cure. May your good relationship continue for many years to come. :-)

  6. P.S. I hope Roger applies his considerable skills to designing a proper band-owned official site. It would be a vast improvement over what they have at the moment. Just a little dream...

  7. So great to have Lol back in the mix. The Seattle PI claimed it was a 'tragicomic' affair, having him back. Hopefully, the rest of the band treated him with the utmost respect. Especially after all these years.

But I'm thrilled Robert invited him and Roger back for this. Just goes to show that bygones are bygones, etc. Life is too short.

But this brings me back to the point I always try to convey to Robert in some 'open letter' way: The Cure just isn't The Cure without keyboards. Bring back the synth sound for good!

    xo

  8. I've only seen The Cure without keys and they were two of the best gigs I've been to. I'm looking very forward to Bestival though, intrigued to see who will be there. Will no doubt be amazing though!

  9. did anyone else notice the "most of us enjoyed the moment" (or something like that) line? is it just me or is he suggesting that some were not entirely happy?
