Cure best of the decade polls

Update 4: Due to some jackass, or jackasses, screwing up the poll, it is now closed and the results discarded. Had a really nice battle going between BF and UTS, but some no-lifer had nothing better to do than add hundreds of votes for BF. So we revert back to the results of the previous poll of the Top 25, and Underneath The Stars wins, followed by Bloodflowers, Last Day of Summer, Out Of This World and Cut Here. Thanks to everyone who voted (once) and enjoyed the polls. And to the asshole(s), get a life.

Update 3:
Okay, we have our top ten now for the final round of voting on the best Cure song of the past decade. Can any song defeat UTS? And we have a winner for Best Tour - Dream Tour 00, and Best Album - Bloodflowers. Thanks to everyone for voting!

Update 2:
The top 25 Best Cure Songs Of This Decade have been decided. Now vote for your favorite on that list in round 2, and we will take the top 10 from this one, and have the final vote next weekend. Songs are listed in their final order from the previous poll. The top 25 contains 10 BF tracks, 7 TC tracks, 7 4:13 tracks, and Cut Here.

Update:
Added the "Best Cure song of this decade" poll. Cast your vote, and we will take the top 20-25, and run it again next week.

I'm going to be adding a few Cure - Best of This Decade polls over the coming days, and will start with the best album and tour. What do you think? Which Cure album and tour was the best of this decade (2000-2009)? Why?

  1. Hmm.. Not my favourite decade anyway.. Hard to say because I love The Cure but to be honest It could have been a "2000" brilliant album if 2 or 3 of the three albums of the decade had been taken out and put together... BFlowers is a bit boring at the end, the cure would like to be creative but is not really, and 4/13 dream sounds big and is not really... So I should say "Bloodflowers"

  3. i think 4tour was the best tour (though it's the only one i went to, haha).

but looking at setlists, i just love those more than the others. and i actually really enjoy songs like plainsong on guitar.

  4. four tour shows i reckon were the cure at their best live any decade:)
better than the prayer tour even
    (sorry everyone)

and if you include the bsides ,minus a couple of tracks, thecure best record this decade ( sorry craig lol)

  5. Great idea, Craig.

Glad to see you´re doing this.

I know when CURE is in stand-by for so long, we have time to figure out some things ;)

Also i think is good that you posted a "report" of CURE news, though i feel weird because we know so far only the re-releases of the next Spring, but i would like to know more about The Dark Album and a Tour.

Nevertheless, happy to post here again...and as you know i read COF a lot of times a day !!!!

    :) :) :)

P.S. I´m happier than usual 'cause the college semester is finished and i got very good notes.

  6. Thanks for this, Craig.

Can't go past the DreamTour for me.... it was my "true" introduction to The Cure, Chain of Flowers and other Cure fans.

    ReplyDelete
  7. :) i got engaged this last go 'round, so i'll say this tour (plus i actually liked this album).

    ReplyDelete
  8. I can't really vote for the tour because I'm too young at 19 to ever have seen them live :( They never play Scotland anymore :'( But Bloodflowers is definitely the best album out of those 3; I have my own personal trilogy where my favourite three are Bloodflowers, Disintegration and The Head on the Door!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'll go with 4:13 Dream as the best album of the decade. I think Bloodflowers is too limp and The Cure is too messy (although I adore some of the recordings from that era).

Although it seems like a process of simply eliminating the worst albums, I genuinely believe 4:13 Dream to be the best album the band has produced since Wish. It nicely sits in my top 3 Cure albums (which coincidentally, are my top 3 albums ever) .

    ReplyDelete
  10. i have to say fave tours were dreamtour and '02 eurotour. i saw pretty fucking excellent gigs! bloodflowers was the best album hands down.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Best album? BLOODFLOWERS!
Best tour? I prefer to say "best live year" and that was in 2002. I saw them 3 times in summer an 3 times in fall. And these 6 show were all perfect!

Anything since 2005 (except the re-recorded tracks from their first 3 albums) is a pure waste of time: worst album, worst tours, and due to porl: worst line-up! :P

    ReplyDelete
  12. The best album of the decade would be absolutely Bloodflowers! ...and the best tour might be Dream Tour, although I've only seen VHS/television concerts of that era. The best gig of the decade that I saw was Cure in Berlin February '08.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Bloodflowers is too weak of an album to be my fav. It just meanders lyrically while musically its pretty brilliant... if you're in a dreary mood. The self-titled doesn't do it for me save for 2 maybe three tracks.
413 is definitely the strongest of the three. Lyrically its far superior and it's diverse enough musically to keep me moving.
    SO 4:13 Dream it is!

    I'm too young to have experienced the Cure in the early 00s. the 4Tour was amazing though! I saw them three times! ^_^;
    Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  14. For me,
The Dream Tour and the 4tour were excellent for two different reasons. The Dream tour was for the diehard fans (I am) and reflected the atmosphere of the dark side of the band... And 4tour prove that the songs of The Cure have no age, and that the musicians are really tight after all these years.
In North America, in 2004, it was Curiosa, great bands in opening, but the show of The Cure was too short.

For the best albums? I think that we have very great songs on each album, singles... etc...
    - Out of this world
    - Where the birds always sing
    - The last day of summer
    - The loudest sound
    - Bloodflowers
    - Cut Here
    - Just say yes
    - This morning
    - Fake
    - Lost
    - Labyrinth
    - The end of the world
    - Anniversary
    - Taking off
    - Going nowhere
    - Underneath the stars
    - The hungry ghost
    - This here and now with you
    - It’s over
    - Down under

could do a great double compilation cd.

    - Some other songs are very good too. It’s different for each fan. But I’m sure that the last decade was very better then the 90’s... I’m sure that I don’t have to explain my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hello, it’s me again. I’m sorry, i didn’t answer to the question. As I explained... The Cure commited a lot of very good songs on 3 new albums, eight new singles and on one new EP. So why you don’t do a polls of ten or twenty best songs of the decade?

Thank a lot Craig for your work, for your passion!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Harold: I'll be adding more best of the decade polls soon. : )

    ReplyDelete
  17. This: "i think 4tour was the best tour (though it's the only one i went to, haha)."

    And this: BLOODFLOWERS :D

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good to see 19 year old readers and some to young to see the band in the early 00.Makes me feel old though!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah I'm 19 but I've been hanging around here for years.

    ReplyDelete
  20. bloodflowers was the last "good" albume they made. No chance for the other, 4:13 could be good...could but it seems to be horribly produced...while "the cure" contains some good songs (lost,labyrinth,fake..) but it's too much discontinuos.
For intensity i cast my vote for dream tour.

    ReplyDelete
  21. if 4:13 had been produced and mixed more in the style of disintegration or wish, i'd be naming that one. but it's so horribly dense that i can't listen to it for very long without getting a headache, and i can't turn it up too loud or it distorts. there are some great melodies and the lyrics are pretty strong and interesting once again, but the way it's made kills it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks for the updates Craig! My email request for real Cure news came fast.

I've been to just about every tour this decade...except the DreamTour :o( And from what I hear the DTour was really AMAZING! So from my experience the best Cure tour this decade would be 4Tour. And best album is....4:13 Dream. I feel like 4:13 Dream has that Cure sound element from Disintegration. Bloodflowers is more laidback and The Cure self-titled seemed like a forced album but they both have some great songs especially their intro and last tracks on the albums.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Love how diverse the answers are; not much point arguing over these because we all have our preferences.

Personally, I thought Bloodflowers had the strongest music and lyrics of the 00's, and felt like the last 'true' Cure album (as was originally kinda intended...I say 'kinda' because every album is their final album, but, that one really felt like it). Having got into the Cure very heavily in 1997, it was also the first Cure album I bought when it came out.

Best tour for me, was Curiosa, since I got engaged at it :) (And it introduced me to Interpol!)

    ReplyDelete
  24. can't believe so many people are voting for the 4tour.

how many of those 291 votes saw the dream tour? and can honestly say 07-08 was better??

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ paul
    me :)

dream tour was excellent, getting siamese twins and pornography live was amazing , but 4tour atmospheres were loads better , much more of a buzz about them

    ReplyDelete
  26. Talk about going back in time, this coming friday(18th)marks the 24th year of my first Cure live experience.Paris Bercy 1985, what a night for me :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Favourite album is hard, but right now I would say 4:13 Dream. However, it's still a bit on the new side so I could change my mind on the best of the decade a couple of years from now.

I would say 4tour was the best tour. However, special mention goes to Curiosa for putting together such incredible line-up of bands. Hopefully, the Cure will try their hand again in the future at putting together another festival.

    ReplyDelete
  28. dreamtour BY FAR! some of the stops at on the dreamtour could rank as some of the best cure shows EVER. If you loved trilogy, if you prefer the not so pop side of the cure.. DREAMTOUR 2000.

This Morning. one of the best cure songs of any decade, period.. could be this generations b-side to faith. POWERFUL, CAPTIVATING, EMOTIONAL BRILLIANCE.

    ReplyDelete
  29. favorite song for me was a toss up between there is no if.... and truth goodness and beauty.

i just love the story aspect of these two...
    i ultimately voted for TG&B.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "can't believe so many people are voting for the 4tour.

how many of those 291 votes saw the dream tour? and can honestly say 07-08 was better??"

I can... saw them three times during the Dream Tour... and loved the concerts, but saw them bring that kind of concert/music way better before.

The 4tour was, well, different, and, in their difference, I just loved those concerts even more... although regarding albums, Bloodflowers beats the two last ones by decades...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Urgh... we can only pick one song? O.O *sighs* it was kinda terrifying for me... But I went with "This. Here and Now. With You." I think it might be a bit underrated cause it's near the end of the album, but it's a truly gorgeous song when it's all building and swaying, it reminds me of ocean waves.. and the lyircs... GORGEOUS.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i'd be close to voting for out of this world if the lyrics weren't so cliched and it didn't have that horrible piano "thing" that just comes out of nowhere. sorry, roger, i love you, but it's so jarring and out of place in that song.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay, who voted for Never? No presents for you this year. : P

    ReplyDelete
  34. Why am I not surprised? : P How ever did you choose between Never and The Only One? : P

    ReplyDelete
  35. bloodflowers though 4:13 was great, and the self titled had its moments, especially for bsides.
i think that as a whole, BF was the strongest.

im in the too young for dream tour crowd, but i wish i had been able to go - along with the 2002 shows. from videos and bootlegs, i agree with others, they had a darker tone to them

saw the band twice for 4tour (first time too), so i might be biased when i say that was the best. it was their most popular tour i think, and i know it reintroduced the band to alot of people after the not so successful self titled, and all the way back to wish era.

plus, porl came back after a decade!! and the band looks like theyre having so much fun these days. they seem so fresh.. they reached a new height for 4tour.

    ReplyDelete
  36. why I am not surprised that majority of votes went to UTS.... :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. craig ,, i still dont understand your hatred of never,,great bassline great drumming great lyrics great vocals.. it wasnt me who voted though

    ReplyDelete
  38. i voted for the reasons why.

    ...just...y'know. fyi.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I struggled to choose from my list of 7 or so (even then it was hard to narrow it down that far).

in the end I went for 'signal to noise' cos I think it got lost somewhere along the way.. It's so strong it should have been saved for an album or been a single...

But instead 'just say yes' was chosen as a single. WTF?

FYI My list included loudest sound, ootw, last day of summer, UTS, hungry ghost, this here and now...

As for tours, I saw the 5x dream tour 5 shows, and 3x 4 tour shows. I definitely preferred 4 tour, there was a wonderful energy with these shows, and I felt that this was a different and better and fresher and louder and heavier side of the cure.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I can get behind The Only One, but Never? Now if this was the Worst Cure song of the decade I could see that being a shoe-in.

I went with This. Here and Now. With You.

    Tough call.

    ReplyDelete
  41. hey Graig where is PLEASE COME HOME in the list?..it's a marvelous song from the cure album era...

    ReplyDelete
  42. i forget too STRUM and A BOY I NEBER KNEW...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Those songs were never officially released Ram.

ABINK and Please Come Home should be on the Dark album. Strum is in Limbo and whereabouts are currently unknown.

    ReplyDelete
  44. not votes for the dragon hunter song?! :p

    ReplyDelete
  45. Eric: Where it should be. In the 2019 poll for the best song of the next decade. The poll is only for songs released in this decade.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I never felt the same vibe again as at the TRILOGY concert in Brussels.

Very atmospheric. Dark start, then everybody crying with Disintegration (even guys, and I don't think I saw that again) and then, the end with The Kiss was really blasting (I had only heard the studio version and this was really powerful).

I voted for the Bloodflowers album, it's the only album I could really sens I liked it.
(And I think Robert gave Wild Mood Swings an excellent vibe.
Though I never had to "WAIT" for it. The waiting & the thinking is messy maybe.)
(The best "modern" sound & production goes back to the Wish era (and also WMS).)

    For the song,
    "The Last Day Of Summer"
(Robert's vocals are stronger on the studio vesion but his live solo is great)
I wish there'd be more of those nowadays. And I think it suites them better, more "adult" sounding?? :)

I Look forward to hearing PORL play&soloing on downbeat songs !!!!
    (like the solos
    on WCIBeMe & YGIsFear)

    Great polls, thanks Craig
I really wondered too who voted for Never and Just Say Yes (though that's encouraging in a way)

Then "HereAndNowWithYou" is also quite surprising; I'd prefer "DownUnder".

    ReplyDelete
  47. Craig: ABINK in 2019? Aren't you being a bit optimistic?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Eric: You don't think they'll put it out in the next 10 years? : )

    ReplyDelete
  49. it seems that someone did vote for the dragon hunter song. i'd love to know who that is :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Craig: We've both been fans too long to fall for that. ;)

I'm usually a very positive Cure fan. I must be in a pissy mood now because when I look at all the tracks listed, none have the slightest chance at being the best Cure track ever. That's telling.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The Dream Tour was amazing and by far the best of this decade. I saw them play @ Deep Ellum Live when they did the radio promo shows. Then when they came back to Dallas a few months later. Bloodflowers is some of their finest work and I don't know how people can call it weak.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Everything on Bloodflowers is just perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's amazing to me that every song has at least 1 vote, even "(IDKWG) On", which is possibly one of the worst Cure songs ever.

    ReplyDelete
  54. but still better than a poke in the eye with a rusty stick

    ReplyDelete
  55. Craig, how about adding a place where Cure fans can extend happy holiday wishes to the band and each other? Just a thought... I'm quite sure that we could all use the good vibes.

    ReplyDelete
  56. deadboy, it depends on the stick.

    ReplyDelete
  57. adding onto what simon archer said, it's wonderful to know that every one of those songs has had an impact on somebody.

    ReplyDelete
  58. A wee bit of Curespotting :)

Kill Hannah covered "Just Like Heaven" at their annual show, New Heart For Xmas.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1btXdlpfZY

    ReplyDelete
  59. hmm I think it's interesting how many votes the self-titled album is getting O.o to me, that is possibly the worst album since The Top, the discordance is kind of hard to listen to, and it's not as... orchestral? as their better albums *cough Disintegration Wish Bloodflowers cough* It doesn't even have that minimalist darkness permeating Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography, which makes them appealing and awesome-sounding in their own way.. I voted for Bloodflowers though, I think it's gorgeous and a perfect conclusion to the Trilogy. And I couldn't vote for any tours, I have never seen The Cure live. *cries* from the videos I've seen though, the 4tour sounded amazing...

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Cure's noughty decade in the studio was their worst. I will love anything they record but when I seriously examine the merits of their work I come up with this list of songs worthy of the Cure moniker from this decade:

    Out of This World
    Watching Me Fall
    Maybe Someday
    39
    Bloodflowers
    Signal to Noise
Before Three (being nice with that one)
    Underneath the Stars
    It's Over
    Down Under (best)
    Without You

    ReplyDelete
  61. ^^^ Poster above mine:
Typical fan disregard for The Top just because Robert doesn't like.

    ReplyDelete
  62. INTERESTING 1.

The first track on each album has rated so well in comparison to everything else...

Hmmm... I suspect that the kiss / plainsong / open / want would also rate as fan favs....

I guess you only get one chance to make a good first impression, and Robert clearly puts a lot of effort into getting track 1 right (after all, it will be both album and tour opening song)

either that or everyone listens to track 1 on their cd and then hits back button to hear it again and again and again! (I've been guilty of that).

    ReplyDelete
  63. INTERESTING 2

the singles don't seem to rate so well... After i've lived with an album for a while I always think to myself that some songs (eg hungry ghost) should have been singles, and don't really get why some are (eg freakshow).

I think if the singles were chosen to please the fans (or by them) we'd get an entirely different set of songs (imagine if UTS was a single, if we love it so much I wonder if it might have had an impact in the wider world).

I guess my favourite songs on albums tend not to be the singles...

    ReplyDelete
  64. I totally agree with "INTERESTING 2" :)

I don't understand why some songs couldn't have been considered as singles

though it seems to be peculiar to this decade.
The albums evolved but the concept of "Cure singles" didn't I think.

TLDOF, BeforeThree, TheReasonsWhy would have done better
and maybe open the way to (the)other singles

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think, if anything, this poll shows us what we already know. Cure fans typically prefer the atmospheric tracks to the upbeat pop ones or the heavier rock sounding ones.

It's understandable then as to why UTS and OOTW are performing so well. (UTS has won this poll already, right?)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I prefer this decade over the 80s (except Kiss me³ & Disintegration) but yet Bloodflowers is the only album that really works for me. But some of The Cure definite stand-out tracks come from this decade. My top ten of the decade:

    Underneath the stars
    Watching me fall
    The Perfect Boy
This. Here And Now. With You
    The Last Day of Summer
    Your god is fear
    The Hungry Ghost
    The Promise
    Bloodflowers
    It's over

This would have made a brilliant album.

    ReplyDelete
  67. really? over the '80s? are the '90s your favorite then?

    ReplyDelete
  68. oh and i'm voting for maybe someday, but the way. which i don't really think is on the atmospheric side. i just adore that song :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Oh the lovely wasted decade. It's hard to pick the cream of the crap.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yeah, the early 90s were their definite time for me but that's mainly because I got into them in that time and "Wish" is still the best album ever. (Apart/From the edge.../End etc.) Still hoping they will go back to that sound now that Porl has returned. UTS, It's over & Hungry Ghost are a good start. :D

    ReplyDelete
  71. The 80s were quite mixed for me. I love the Kiss me3 and Disintegration period. The "Dark Trilogy" from 1980 - 1982 is good but if Cure had stopped after that they would just be another Post Punk/Darkwave group just like Bauhaus or Joy Divison to me. The real Cure for me started in 1987 with the cracking bass of The Kiss. ;) Japanese Whispers/The Top era is decent but Head on the door is aweful except Sinking/The Blood & A Night like this. Yeah, I've got a quite strange Cure taste, I know. ;p

    ReplyDelete
  72. early '90s are some of my favorite live shows. around '92. and i do love wish. but for me it just doesn't compare to disintegration and kiss me. and i also adore the head on the door as of late - how could you not?! :p
    it's one of my favorites!

but i do see what you mean. i love the pornography album, and faith is good but not nearly as great as some of their later stuff. i think it's the kiss me through wish era that really made the cure THE CURE.

    ReplyDelete
  73. THEFIGUREHEAD: Yes, I do know that Robert doesn't like The Top, but that doesn't affect how I view it... And I don't plan on disregarding it: just compared to their great albums, Wish, Disintegration, Kiss Me, Bloodflowers, Pornography, it doesn't even come close to how amazing The Cure's sound can be. I do appreciate The Top if only because it shows how odd and versatile The Cure can be, but the songs are simply not mind blowing like FTEOFDGS and If Only Tonight We Could Sleep? and Plainsong and even Just Like Heaven... When I first picked up and listened to The Top I had to check that it was The Cure again because it sounded nothing like what I was used to that's written by them... I dunno, even if I didn't know what Robert thought of it, I still would dislike it. This is MY opinion, I'm not going by what I've heard or read

    ReplyDelete
  74. roger's disintegration memories are up :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. I like "Hungry Ghost" because it has all the elements of a perfect emotionally driving Cure song. Why it wasn't a hit single i'll never know. Out of the 25, if I wanted to pick a song to suit someone unfamiliar, it would be this song. "Underneath" is wonderful, but more of a soundtrack title than song.

  77. No big surprise with best album of the noughties, and quite righly so..i am just going to hope that we'll get 3 more albums in the tens(asking for more isn't feasible i think)..So here's to another decade and hey, doesn't it start well with the Disintegration Remasters? Thanks Craig for the polls, and all the work you put into the website..Simply the first and best place to go for Cure news...

    ReplyDelete
  78. I really wanted "This morning" to be in the top 10, almost ;)

    ReplyDelete
  79. craig, couldn't you have nudged the reasons why up just a little? :\

my last vote went to (astoundingly) out of this world.
uts will do alright without me and it's one of the only songs on bloodflowers i like.
actually i cry whenever i hear it. shhh. but don't tell anyone!

  81. Can we vote for None of the Above?
This decade has been horribly disappointing. I don't even have a favorite Cure song from it.

Note to the piano-hater on OOTW: I like the piano solo.

Bloodflowers was limp and boring. Self-titled was absolutely dreadful (C'mon, let's all admit it), and 4:13 Dream has loads of unattained potential. Every song on 4:13 derails itself by missing...something?

I think, with the help of Roger's reflections, that I have figured out that RS is not the genius everyone thinks he is. Disintegration was an epic album because of the collaboration of everyone in the band at the time, including Dave Allen and Chris Parry. End of story.

Perhaps the Dark Album will prove me wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Unbelieviable that even the crappy "Never" got more votes than "NY trip", that psychedelic masterpiece. Give it another listen!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Just an opinion on the possibility of and timing of the relese of the "Dark Album". I honestly think that any release would have to co-incide with the band being ready to tour either just before its release as with 4tour or around its release date. The revenue generated from touring by far exceeds any revenue that can be generated in album sales more so than ever these days. Having just finished the extensive 4tour I cant see the band being prepared to or wanting to tour extensively enough to support an album release until at least 2011. With this in mind I wouldnt be holding my breath for a release of the dark until then. Obviously I could be completely wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  84. labyrinth is the best track from the cure self titled, that and going nowhere (i don"t count truth goodness beauty, this morning, etc as they are more or less regulated to bsides or in the case of truth goodness beauty just no attention paid to it....why they choose to play the greatly inferior end of the world is beyond me especially since porl is in the band , he would really seem to have fun with labyrinth...

siren song, the scream. baby rag doll book ( that stays the title for me) and of course UTS are for me the best on 4:13 as well as down under...

but overall bloodflowers i think was their strongest effort this decade... (exception again for the subpar maybe someday and 39....its the last album to me felt like the cure...the other albums sound like a band trying to sound like the cure...and i know thats a cliche thing to say as it has been said before...i think it was even simon who said that during the self titled sessions

people have complained about bloodflowers being boring ///but that was the initial reaction to many for disintegration...as one of my friends who was a cure fan 9 he is also was a huge cure fan up until disintegration. said to me that disintegration sounds like the same song and he pointed out the same reused chords and melodies...

i even noticed one of the riffs in UTS is a rehash of the song END the do do do do part..only transcribed as piano or guitar..

anyway for me personally the best cure song of the decade was cut here...even with the chord ripoff of JD or NEw orders ceremony.... i still feel it was the last best cure song....the end

  86. @dean:
Interesting that you think "the other albums sound like a band trying to sound like the cure" but name exactly songs as your favourites (Labyrinth, This Morning, Going nowhere, The Scream) that in my oppinion exactly match this thesis. Among the post 2000 releases I usually prefer those songs that gave me the feeling of adding new vibes/shades to the band's catalogue, e.g. "Coming up", "There is no if", "Signal to noise,"Out of this world", "Lost", "Before 3", "The reasons why", "The perfect boy", "Without you" and "NY trip".
But at least we agree about "Cut here" (dont'forget it's main influence being "Surfin' Safari" by Bert Kaempfert.)

  87. bloodflowers is almost suspiciously gaining points right now.. wasn't it in the 300's only a few hours ago? :P

    ReplyDelete
  88. I was thinking the same thing Lindsey. Someone out there must really want Bloodflowers to win :P

    ReplyDelete
  89. i've gotta start thinking about how i can manage another 600 votes for maybe someday :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. yep, someone is definitely stuffing the ballot box in Bloodflowers' favour.

    Not that i'm complaining!! haha

    ReplyDelete
  91. It's hilarious. Someone managed about 350 votes in one evening. The true winner of this poll is the determination of that poor soul.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I voted for Going Nowhere which is where it appears to be heading in the poll : ((

Oasis fans could be behind this poll rigging. Giving us a taste of our own medicine, sneaky little prats.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm finding it hard to vote since I'm in the USA and don't have Truth, Goodness & Beauty. How can I possibly vote!!?!!? :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. i'm not sure if the hundredsss of votes are necessary, i would have given up when it was one hundred or so past UTS.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Really? You think Bloodflowers is that brilliant that you need to waste an evening voting for it? WOW! Get a life. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  96. It's a shame it had to come to this but I believe Craig did the right thing.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Went with CUT HERE. There's something about it that never get's old.

    ReplyDelete
  98. i voted Going Nowhere and then hit the refresh button 1200 times, so why didn't it win?! :(

    ReplyDelete
  99. This might be an old question but I did not have regular internet access at the time, so...

Why was GOING NOWHERE & TG&B left off of the North American release of THE CURE? THX.

    ReplyDelete
  100. No need to rig the vote, it was meant to be a reflection of the general cure community.
Good result in the end though.

    ReplyDelete
  101. the album was a let-down. get over it, sour grapes!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Craig, how is it even possible for someone to vote for something multiple times, without using multiple computers?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Apparently, there are several different ways.

    ReplyDelete
  104. well i noticed that on mine, whenever i x'ed out of the internet and went back in, it would ask me to vote again. i think it's because i have my internet set to clear history/cookies/etc. when i x out.

i promise it wasn't me though! haha

  105. i will play devils advocate here...those of you complaining and whining about someone voting multiple times for bloodflowers,(referring this person as a whiner etc so tat they can get their way in order to ensure bloodflowers beat UTS)well seems to me that the lot of you are doing the same whining etc just because it looked like UTS might been beaten by BF...

personally i voted for cut here...even though i knew it wouldn't win....

perhaps if there was a problem with som e"jackass" voting multiple times for BF...then craig could ave made the voting a one time ting and not reset after 2 hours r so were one could vote again ...

again i am just playing the advocate here...

to call someone a freakin loser to use he poll to "rig" the vote...well from te way the poll was set up that person did nothing wrong as i saw no rules indicating you could only vote once..or change your vote...maybe i don"t have all the teail and they went a bit further i don"t know...but if blooflowers would have won people should just get over and not obsess so much over silly poll. After all everyone is going o have their own strong opinion on what the best cre song of the decade is (not that there were many good ones) i mean come one people even voted for i don"t know whats going on and never....

oh and to me UTS sometimes reminds me at certain points in th song ..of a song played by a band at a high school prom....:P

don"t get me wrong i love th song but the image is there....

pleas people do not take this statement the wrong way i am just pointing out some observations i have made and opinions....

if someone had rigged he poll in ways i do not know about (lke spamming or a bt or whatever then yeah i cn understand te frustration but since craig allowed people to vote multiple times ...then no one really has a right to complain just because that person did not pick UTS..

anyway if anyone as more info into this i am interested to hear them....

  109. "get a life" a posted by Craig re: the multiple voted for BF; ( i am sure BF's was not the only song voted for more than once by an individual)

also there were no rules indicating one cold only vote once (if there was i apologize for my argument) ,,,if that's how you wanted it , a simple fix in your webcode could have remedied the problem.

but to call someone a loser because they choose for what they felt what their personally favorite is a a bit hypocritical since their choice didn"t go the way of he majority and it looked like it might have beaten UTS.
to say "get a life" strikes me as funny seeing all tees posts here from every little cure spotting to if robert wiped his ass...

anyway enough from me.just thought i would share my feelings on the matter

PS i did not vote multiple times for blooddlowers :P

    ReplyDelete
  110. i don't think it was set so you could vote multiple times..? was it?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Lindsey: No. Set to one vote. But there are tricks that people use to get around that. Though this is the first time I've ever seen someone add 300-400 votes in a couple of hours.

  112. I reckon it must of been Andy-pants! Who else around here has the techno whiz skills to pull it off?

  113. How is it that most of the times, those who bitch can't spell?
Must be a side-effect of the steam pumping.

  114. People are just jealous because The Loudest Sound was on the verge of making a miraculous comeback. One for the ages.

Don't even try to deny it, people. :D

    ReplyDelete
  115. I love The Loudest Sound.
    It's my favorite from BloodFlowers.
    :p

    ReplyDelete
  116. The Loudest Sound is also my favourite from Bloodflowers; I even love how Robert looks like he's gonna cry when the band plays it during Trilogy ;)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yes, Robert's feelings looks genuine for that song, whether that's true or not.

    ReplyDelete
  118. perfect blue sky was the best song of this decade....as well as truth is

i know they are not "cure songs" per say but they are something different..took a risk and were appealing....

truth goodness beauty and cut here were close runners up pretty much everything else the cure has put out lately is in the same vain as the rolling stones or other old rock bands that should have known when to quit...now they are regulated to wuss rock or corporate spiel, like hte whole killing another...its killing an arab..fuck political correctness its not Robert fault that the masses are too stupid to interpret his lyrics...i lost a lil respect for him for giving in to the killing another....

down under was great as well

maybe someday sucked and end of the world needs to be the end of the song..its such a horrible song,,,,the only one was better when it was called please project as it was played slightly different and faster,,,

and please come home should have been on the album...one of the better tracks....

  119. couldnt disagree more :)
