  1. Craig, thanks for the transcription of Robert's comments. I hope someone's taping this! Andy? Pussycat?

  2. Ohh, I used to love this song so much when I was little. :) ("Human" - Human League)

  3. If Sirius had promoted this perhaps someone would have been ready to tape it. Just happened to have caught it right as the first track was about to start and the Swedish Eagle dj was saying "here's a surprise - Robert Smith's top 30 of the 80s". Huh? This could have been one of the biggest features of the weekend! Did I just miss their promotion of it??

You're welcome Craig. Glad you were able to alert folks. ;)

  4. It's driving me crazy not knowing what the Kate Bush song was! Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  5. No, there was no promotion of this at all. Guess it really was a surprise.

    V: e-mail is down again. : (

  6. Hi...

The Robert's Top 30 of the 80s is being aired right now ?

I like the RS eclectic music taste

    :0

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hahaha!!!

Poor RS and all of this rapping!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I was listening to Sirius most of the weekend and didn't hear a whisper about it at all. Lots of promotion of the interview and the concerts.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah, I was just looking at their description of this week's events, and I didn't see it mentioned there at all, either. How strange!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Here was the earlier part of the list:

    Kate Bush - Cloudbusting

Bananarama and Funboy 3 - It Ain't What You Do (It's the Way that You Do It)

    David Bowie - Lets Dance

The Associates - Tell Me It's Easter on Friday

    ABC - Look of Love

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe he procrastinated getting them the recording?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Aha. "Cloudbusting" is a nice song. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Cloudbusting!!
Thank you; I can sleep soundly now.

    ReplyDelete
  14. No worries. I didn't transcribe the intros unfortunately. Who knew there'd be anything to transcribe. :/

    ReplyDelete
  15. i'm actually surprised he didn't pick more prince (that chaka khan is a prince song) as they were (robert and prince) lumped together as geniuses more than once

    ReplyDelete
  16. or i couldve stopped by the .com post and see that there was another prince song (!) and TOM WAITS! :D

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Craig, I got Audacity installed and started recording from the New Order intro. I'm only recording the intros though, not the songs. I'll upload when it's all done but there won't be many :|

    ReplyDelete
  18. Robert Smith and the Banshees. Nice. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I LOVE that he picked Tainted Love!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I wonder who chose the remix version, RS or Sirius? The original is brilliant. This? Not so much. : P

    ReplyDelete
  21. Craig: I was wondering that, too. :P I don't like this version very much.

    ReplyDelete
  22. But at least we got to hear Björk sing about CoF. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Maybe that was Robert's way of saying hi to you Craig :D

    ReplyDelete
  24. today on vh1 there was a Top 20 for 'dark songs' and Oh Surprise!! Lullaby was #1

    ReplyDelete
  25. :) he really is "magical" i still say this is the weirdest song to pick though

    ReplyDelete
  26. Never could get into Waits. Just not my thing. Though RS did turn me on to a great Waits song (The Heart of Saturday Night) 9 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can't believe he picked Mel & Kim's Respectable. I have the 12" mix of this song. I used to dance to it during my club kid days.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Craig: You have to give Waits another chance. His songs are so cool. Especially the spoken word songs.

    ReplyDelete
  29. .... and yet another conversation happening when I cannot listen.

I hate being on the other side of the future!

    ReplyDelete
  30. craig, well i totally understand the not being able to get into waits thing. my dad was a bit of a beatnik when i was little and loved tom waits. i heard him from a really young age, but never really appreciated him until i was in junior high probably.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yay! *Voodoo Smile* back at ya. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. hi jo, hi v, hi craig, hi heron!
    im so terribly rude nowadays.
i have absolutely no time to hang out :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks rev for catching this - SUX that We all missed it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not all of us missed it. : )

    ReplyDelete
  35. oh jeez. the dj right now called duran duran "the double d". i had no idea of the nickname. although my cousin named her dog "duran" (this was, of course, in the 80's).

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi Craig, Heron, KelBel and the 'elusive' Sofia!

I miss our tour chats *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  37. i don't mean to be elusive! i'm so effing busy.

and hot. is it warm in my apartment or do i have the hampocalypse flu? only time will tell!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sofia, as long as it isn't Swine flu :)

And I hear ya about being busy. Life is just on fast forward on the moment.... it is starting to drive me insane.

*sends good vibes to the universe for all our lotto numbers to come up*

    ReplyDelete
  39. i can't believe there's a station on here that's all bruce springsteen all the time. robert should have a channel on here like bob dylan does. i could hear him talk for hours. days! months! years!

can we start a petition? not until the dark album comes out?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi Future Girl! (HUGS)

Hey Sofia and Joe too! :D Excellent to see you here.

Craig, you've got a sendspace link headed your way

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks Heron. That's what I was waiting for. : )

    ReplyDelete
  42. (ROOOOOOOMIE)

Now I remember why I had to take leave during the 4Tour - very hard to focus on real work, when all this is going on.

Maybe they will sack me for not being focussed....... pick me pick me..... sack me....

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jo: I'm at work right now, too! :o

    ReplyDelete
  44. V needs to hurry up and get home! ; )

    ReplyDelete
  45. I've got the intros from Human League to New Order recorded on my phone, (while I was downloading and instaling Audacity) but I don't know how to convert the phone files to MP3. I'll be happy to transcribe them and post them here though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I couldn't agree more with Chaka Khan "I feel for you". I loved it at the same time i was listening to the Dead Kennedys and Motley Crue. Very confusing times but good music. Good list but dissed "white girl" by X.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Craig: Working on it... ;) Almost done... :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. v: WTF are you still doing at work? Isn't 9.45PM in your world? At least I have the common sense to make sure I leave work by 8pm every day!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. V: Good job! You rock! And are pretty (and) awesome. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  50. Jo: It's actually 10:50pm...and a holiday! :P But I have a deadline to meet this week, so here I am. Oh well, I get a lot more done when I can play music out loud and don't have to listen to my idiot co-workers party all day long, so at least I'm being uncommonly productive. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Craig: Aww, now I'm blushing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. http://www.sendspace.com/file/7e85rn

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ha! Never mind. Thanks Heron!

    ReplyDelete
  54. v: 10:50pm on a holiday weekend! You are committed (or perhaps should be) *calls the men with the white jackets* :)

    Awwww for v and Craig!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Craig I sent it to your gmail, sorry if it didn't get there yet :*

    ReplyDelete
  56. Jo: If I'm committed, do I still get paid? :) Because if so, I'll consider calling the men in the white coats myself!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Human League

As soon as I heard this song, I fell in love with it and despite or maybe because of the (something) rap in the middle of it, I still love it, very loud and very often.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Didn't he say something about Yorkshire when talking about the Human League's rap? :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hahahaha...good one, Jo!

    Poor V! : )

    ReplyDelete
  60. v: you get paid for overtime? I want your job :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. V: Yes he did. I have them on my MP3 player, and will check them later. But I must go now, before it get's too late. Is it ever too late for me? No. : P

You kids have fun and behave while I'm gone. : )

Bye V, Jo, Heron, and Sofia.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Bye Craig - it was short but sweet.

    Have a good night.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Jo: No! I don't! :P Boo!

Craig: Byebye, see you later. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Madness - The next song's one of those I can't help it, I just love it things. 2 and a half minutes of "sharp suited, out with the naughty boys, good time music" Another song I almost learned to dance to, this is Madness, Return of the Los Palmas Seven. Waiter.

    ReplyDelete
  65. *huff* and again it's time to go :(
oh all the things that get in the way of curelife.

    bye you guys...
    lots of love
    xo

    ReplyDelete
  66. MBV- Next song up an absolutely beautiful piece of music from one of my all time favorite groups. I particularly love the way in this song that the sound of every breath being taken is the loudest thing in the mix. Absolute genius. This is My Bloody Valentine and Lose my Breath.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Not sure if anyone is still here, but I'm getting out of here (finally)! :) Goodnight, everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Here's the show starting from the end of 'Human.' I didn't edit the music out and it runs about 1hr20min @ 128kbps. Wish I caught the whole show, but I was in my truck when it started and raced home to start recording. Enjoy fellow fans!

  69. See ya, v. I am sure I probably missed ya.... sadly, work got in the way :(

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks a million for the file, Wishing in NO!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Heron: Thanks for the help with transcribing. : )

    ReplyDelete
  72. What can I say about the next song? One of those secret, guilty pleasures? Except it's not secret and I don't feel guilty BUT it is a pleasure, not many days went by on the Cure Kiss Me tour in 1987 when this wasn't played very very very loud. Mel and Kim, Respectable

    ReplyDelete
  73. Next up is another song that was a Steve Severin "Clockwalk Club flap Christmas" (?) staple. I hold on to my picture of this as it was then - possible and New Order, Everything's Gone Green

The next up is yet another post-show Club Smith 3 am favorite, one of the all-time great weird late night singalongs
I, I, I love this song, even the rap bit! This is Yoko Ono, Walking on Thin Ice

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thank you to every one here for information, files, etc! Because of the time zones I can't join the chat =( But I always have some much (guilrty) pleasure to read everything aftewards!

And, using the opportunity, I want to thank Rev. Heron for the wonderful postcard I got from her today!!! <33

    Love, Olga.

    ReplyDelete
  75. * so much
    * guilty

    Damn the mistakes! =(

    ReplyDelete
  76. Next up for another one of the best bands I ever saw or heard, going on after them on the Prayer Tour in 1989 pushed the Cure to a new level
and they'd really only just started! This song sounds heartfelt, effortless, carefree, gorgeous and fun, and it always makes me feel very very happy. Cue the best stick-click intro ever, this is the Pixies, and Gigantic.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Heron: Thank you! In case you haven't checked, I have the rest transcribed. This was the last missing one. : )

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thanks for uploading Rev!

My favorite bit...Robert Smith and the Banshees.

    Hee hee.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Craig, yes i saw you were going back to front so I did Pixies and figured you'd have the rest! :D

    ReplyDelete
  80. So the missing part in Human League was "four-line Yorkshire rap" eh? My recording had noise right then :|

What about the New Order "Clockwalk club flap christmas" comment? I just could NOT decipher that.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Olga, I am glad to hear you got your letter safely! :D It did take a while to get all the way around the globe, but it's good to hear that it arrived.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Wow, thanks for all the surprise coverage!

    ReplyDelete
  83. my hubby will be *quite* surprised to hear about the pretenders song ( his fave band) lol...

my list would be somewhat-different... I must get working on that !!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Wow, that version of Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain" is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
