  1. Another #1 single, two singles in the top 10, and all four singles in the top 15. Will this translate to radio airplay? No, of course not, because sales figures like this couldn't possibly mean that anyone would want to listen to them on the radio...

  2. I am not surprised at all about TPB entering at #1. And I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed there for a while given how good it is. I have said previously that I don't care about The Cure in the charts but I suppose I'd be a hypocrite if I said it didn't make me happy. I would rather keep the Cure for myself and yet the band deserves wider recognition. So, I am a bit torn.

I'm still hopeful they will play at the Spring 09 gathering at my house. Is that too much to ask?

  3. You can't keep the band to yourself, Cat. It's too late.
I'd say, like, 32 years too late?

I'm happy for the #1 thing. Of course it won't change anything... the fact is there's so little singles out these days that it's easy for a big band like The Cure to top it.

You know, when there's tumbleweeds blowing everywhere... it spells emptyness.
    Still, #1, we'll take it.

  4. Yay Yay USA!!! Way to go! Hopefully, this will translate into the Wishful Thinking tour :)

  5. Yea, right, wishful thinking tour!!
    Well, see, hum...
I don't have any reply to that!
So I'm off to the basement.

  6. Excellent news.

At some point, The Perfect Boy's "Amazon.com Sales Rank" in Music was as high as 90.

Considering that the ranking includes ALL music titles, I think that is pretty high.

  7. And still we can't get it in Canada.
Universal is the suckiest major ever in existence. Ever. Even MGM before being bought by Sony didn't suck balls as big as them now.
It is dreadful that The Cure is with the mighty "U".
Not that they are to blame, some things you just don't know without experiencing it first hand, but it's bad news for us fans indeed.
Cause they sure do a shitty job at... well... every facets of what they do, really.

  9. I swear to God, somebody in the mainstream media had better report this! Geffen should say something!

    Congratulations, Robert and Co.

  10. Hooray for The Cure! TBP is #1 and deservedly so! Four singles in the Top 15 Hot Single Sales chart with little radio play is Incredible!!!

Makes me proud to be a Cure Fan!!

And the perfect way to Celebrate would be......................The Wishful Thinking Tour! YEAH!!!
Come on Robert make our wishes come true! LOL!! ;)

  11. Yes, Muldfeld is right. It's still baffling to me.

  12. Geffen can kiss my ass. They have really dropped the ball in every way with The Cure. Shameful. I don't even care about promotional crap and yet somehow I have gotten swept up into caring anyway. And hell, since The Cure are on the cusp of their 30th anniversary, they really do deserve abundant accolades for helping dramatically change the face of music and for still putting out stuff that is invigorating and interesting.

  16. The world... has come... to a stop.
I will crawl, sluggishly, toward my destiny.

  20. I emailed Rolling Stone about the Cure singles shooting to number 1, despite few radio plays. I hope they listen. They're all about celebrity and popularity, and I don't see why The Cure shouldn't get its fair share.

  21. I've had my 3 copies for over a week (even here in sleepy Perth)

  22. "sleepy perth"?

come on, elise. we all know you're partying daily AND nightly down there, just like vanilla ice.

  23. I´m so happy, yesterday i got my TPB copy, so now, i already have the 4 singles on cd.

Also TPB is being played now on two radiostations.

Not so bad if you live on Mexico City.

It´s great to see The Cure has 4 singles on Top 15, well deserved, i think.

I hope this new single at last has more airplays than the others.

TPB is much more better song than the music that used to be played on the radio nowadays.

Maybe RSx will post soon a new message for having a # 1 Sales Single again.

I guess if after having 2 singles on top of the sales charts, puts Robert to think what Cure yet means to the music industry and make it take the choice of no more delays, release the album and do a great job on announce a new tour, big plans for the 30th anniversary, the release of the next batch of the remasters, dvds and many many more.

Come on, RSx, let´s do it !!!!!

    :)

  24. Monkeybutt - Perth is soooo sleepy, that there are still people here that think that Vanilla Ice is a hip and happening dude.

  25. i thought his nu-metal albums rocked almost as much as his stoner rap albums.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I have to admit, his MTV Unplugged special was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i think he made your panties tingle.

    ReplyDelete
  28. My memory is slightly fuzzy - but was Vanilla Ice also a proponent of the 'happy pants'?

    ReplyDelete
  29. It doesn't take much for my panties to tingle.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't think I'm gonna join the panties conversation.

  31. LOL!

back on topic so as not to annoy craig! :-)

  32. The Oz charts don't get released until the weekend. I am hoping for a good showing given that the single has been released for over a week 'down under'.
