The Cure have added a 2nd L.A. area show - June 1st at The Shrine Auditorium. Here's the story from the OC Register:
The Cure add second, smaller date to L.A. stand
April 14th, 2008 · posted by Ben Wener
‘Bout time: After years (or is it decades?) of making only big-bigger-biggest outdoor appearances — Verizon/Irvine Meadows, Curiosa at Home Depot Center, Coachella – Robert Smith and the Cure are finally going to play a smaller space in Southern California again.
June 1 at the Shrine Auditorium — the night after they play a sold-out gig at (where else?) the Hollywood Bowl. Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m.

YEAH!!! Will these be sold through Ticketmasters? Will there be pre-sale tickets before Saturday?
ReplyDeleteYay...my reward for patiently holding my "not-so-good" Hollywood Bowl tickets...a show the next day in a smaller venue. The Faith encore will be held for the Shrine, no doubt. Bitter, party of one...
ReplyDeleteGreat for fans in the area! I hope scalpers don't get to them first! Good luck, hardcore fans!
ReplyDeleteMaggie - Yes, tickets will be through Ticketmaster. No word on any pre-sales yet.
ReplyDeletethis leaves me with a tough decision. somebody please answer for me so I dont have to think about it anymore. what tickets to sell in order to afford the shrine show?. either, San Diego mid floor, Santa Barbara pit or hollywood bowl terrace. or all of em and pay outrageous scalper amounts for front and center shrine tickets?
ReplyDeleteThis is great great GREAT news!! Yay more times to see the Cure :)
ReplyDeleteBrandon -- I say kill SD.
ReplyDeleteIf you hear anything about a presale, Craig, I'd be forever indebted; I got screwed for Radiohead tickets this last weekend, so I've got some extra cash lying around.
just told by a friend this show is not on thecure.com or ticketmaster. should we believe this?
ReplyDeletetyler: i got the radiohead shaft too- is it EVEN possible to get tix for their shows...?
ReplyDeleteanyway, great news on this. i haven't seen em back to back days since 96!
On the Radiohead front, I lucked out in staying up the whole night with an automatic refresher. Instead of tickets popping up at 3 am or 5 am as in past tours, they showed up at 9:10; my refresher failed, and by some fluke I checked another browser around 9:12 or so, and saw the tickets on sale. Damn Firefox. I love you, Netscape.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Waste is the key, but because the time was so late, lots more scalpers got in on the action. They should keep Guantanamo Bay and Abu Graib open for them. What's worse is ticketmaster suggests using their owned site, ticketsnow.com, to obtain tickets at scalper rates. This is a conflict of interest. Ebay and ticketmaster CEOs should be sent to Cuba and Iraq along with the scalpers!
A pal of mine heard about this show on the radio.
ReplyDeleteHopefully not some stupid joke by that lame station.
I am crossing my fingers. I NEED to go to this show! hehe
The show has been posted on the KROQ site at the link below.

The official site still says nothing. Thank goodness for Craig's site.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Craig, many fans may simply be checking the main page of chainofflowers. You might want to consider posting a direct link to your blog on the main page saying all the news is posted there.
Just a thought.
Finally on Ticketmaster - http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0900408F01A36D57?artistid=915776&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60
ReplyDeleteYay The Cure!!!!!!!!
