ReplyDeleteGood night Dj, sleep well.
ReplyDeleteI hope your mummy isn´t mad at you.
:)
Is David with you Elise ?
ReplyDeleteIs he on the WoW thing ?
Ahh, i know it from days ago, but i can´t stop to feel amuse that be aware you´re 13 hrs ahed of me.
It´s really weird.
You´re doing laundry and i´m just sitting here alone in my room underneath the stars and looking at a bright moon.
When the Olimpics took place Sidney 00, you were there ?
Dam... Missed the whole thing tonight. Just got home from CINEMATIC TITANIC!!! and we met JOEL!
ReplyDeleteMadbob - Hubby is having his afternoon siesta - but before that, yes he was on warcraft.
ReplyDeleteThis tour has made me so much more knowledgable of timezones. and it is weird that I am completely opposite to everyone else.
I didn't go to the Olympics. Sydney is on the opposite side of the continent for me - so it would have been quite costly to go.
Where are you exactly? I know Mexico - but Mexico City?
Brandon - what is Cinematic Titantic?
ReplyDeleteelise: the creators of MST3K are back together doing it live on stage.
ReplyDeleteBrandon - probably showing my age here - but that didn't help me at all.
ReplyDeleteYeah Elise,,Mexico City, i live 10 min far from the intl aiport, so if anytime you would visit my country, i would love to be your local guide .
ReplyDeleteYou´re right, i think only you & Henny are from this side of the globe.
Australia is reaaaally big and yes, you´re on the opposite side of Sidney.
How many hours of flying are from Perth to Sidney ?
Madbob - It is about a 5 hour flight to Sydney - depending on the headwinds.
ReplyDeleteIf I ever come to mexico City - you will be the first person I call :)
Very nice Elise, thanks for the honor.
ReplyDelete5 hours, it´s a very long distance.
Is there many Cure fandom on your country?
NZ is near of you,i read that there is a lot of fans on NZ.
TO be honest, I had never met that many Cure fans here in Perth. I met the Exploding Boy in Adelaide (he is from Perth) and we catch up every now and then. He knows heaps of other Cure fans, but I think he has a very different social group than mine.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to say though that the Perth Cure concert sold out last year... so that was great.
What about in Mexico? The concerts there are amazing I hear.
Indeed Elise, the excitement was a little bigger on 2004, the very first time The Cure play Mexico City and the second time in Mexico, first were Monterrey 1992, i can´t go, past 16th June 16 years from this day.
ReplyDeleteBefore Cure hit the road here, they played again at Monterrey, soldout.
The 3 concerts at Mexico City were soldouts, the first 2 dates gone in less than 10 minutes, 40,000 tickets.
The second and last date met RSx and the band.
The most incredible life experience for me, as you know, i "steal" a glass where Robert drank milk.
The last year was amazing too.No luck this time of meeting them, just saw them 10 meters far outside the Sports Palace, where MTV Latino Awards ( i was there too) took place, Cure won the Influence award.
And 2 days later, 3 in a row sould outs show.
I´ve been in 6 concerts so far.
Time to return to the real world.
ReplyDeleteIt has been an amazing journey. I have loved every minute I have spent here with all of you.
Craig knows I love him :) and everything he does.
But, do not think this is the end. It is just the beginning. There will be more threads to chat in and just wait until Elise comes Stateside next year - woo hoo, THAT will be an amazing trip!
*COF GROUP HUG*
Madbob - It has been a pleasure chatting with you. ou have been here since the beginning - what an amazing time.
ReplyDeleteHubby is awake now, and I really need to get some kind of order back in my life.
We WILL talk soon.
I think the same Elise, i´m convinced this is just the very beginning of amazing things for us.
ReplyDelete**COF GROUP HUG **
OK Elise, good luck, the pleasure is all mine.
ReplyDeleteSay hello to your hubby.
Yeah, now i´m off to bed.
WE WILL TALK LATER FOR SURE.
Greetings from Mexico City
:)
COF HUGS to U !!!
Good night everyone ( if anyone is even here )
ReplyDeleteGood Night Craig, after the show you just dissapeared as a ghost.
We missed you.
Thanks a lot to you for made this amazing 4 Tour US trip.
All you doing for The Cure community is priceless.
You started a new root of Cure worpshipness,The COF fandom.
:)
See you soon Craig.
Take care.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, ROBERT, SI, PORL, JASON AND OUR HERO MAN...CRAIG PARKER.
ALL OF YOU MADE A WONDERFUL JOB
P.S. CRAIG, IS TIME TO CATCH ALL THE SLEEP YOU MISSED.
See ya, Mad Bob
ReplyDelete..so I don't know if anyone has reported yet, but after a little hanging out after the show Porl and Jason both came by to sign autographs! How sweet!!!! I'm glad I stuck around!
ReplyDeleteoops..I'm always late on things..sorry, I see someone already posted it...ah well
ReplyDeleteHi April - Hope you had a great time. It was a great setlist! And then to meet Porl and jason at the end would have been a buzz!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI love Robert's comment at the end of the YCIBU video - "The choices you make in the heat of the moment" :)
ReplyDeleteHoly crapola - that WCIBY vid is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteCat - it is a great moment in time. He looks so happy!
ReplyDeletei went to bed around 3ish; chris called me at 345 to tell me they went home - rob and si never showed up. :-(
ReplyDeleteelise - lol - did you ever leave here? you are hilarious!!
ReplyDeletei am in the airport yet AGAIN - this is the fourth time in a month. and i hate flying! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCat - you have to remember it is still my waking hours in Oz.
ReplyDeleteMind you, if I could go without sleep (like one Mr Parker), I would attach myself to the PC, awaiting the return of my friends :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL elise - i forgot it is waking hours for you.
ReplyDeleteI love the vid and pix of bob in the mezz. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. wish i coulda witnessed it. Historical Cure concert!
Cat - it would have been good if you could've stayed in NYC for the show, BUT, you have Tom Waits to look forward too.... and you get to go home and see your wonderful man.
ReplyDeletealready here with my wonderful man now! he is rolling his eyes at me looking at the pics and vids. in the car on the way here he said, "robert is not in shape enough to climb to the balcony!" LOL. then he saw the vid and said, "oh, he didn't have to use a lot of energy for that."
ReplyDeleteMEAN!
robert is NOT fat! he is cutely adorably plump!
Cat - tell your man I said Hi.
ReplyDeleteI agree about Robert - I don't think he is fat, he is just cuddly.... mmmm, cuddly.
So where in the world are you now? NYC? Home? Houston?
hi guys, I didn't get home until 5 am! I am going to upload some pics and videos...enjoy
ReplyDeleteyou know, I realized something going to these shows...a lot more people read this website than I thought! Whether they post or not, there are a LOT of people reading this site. I never doubted it, it just really hit me this weekend. THANKS CRAIG!
ReplyDeletein houston now; right across from the venue where tom waits is playing! fucking nice hotel for CHEAP!
ReplyDelete:-D
gonna go grab a bite.
my flight landed at 8p. got to rcmh at 9:05p. no ticket and no one was selling! it was so heartbreaking...i made it and couldn't get to see them. so i resorted to listening the concert from the side door for 1 1/2 hours. around 10:30pm a couple walked by and said "no ticket? we just gave away ours!" (why would people leave early is beyond me!) i couldn't help but to start crying...yet again...a minute later "R" showed up and said dont' cry, i'll take you in. OMFG!! i got in...without a ticket!!!
ReplyDeleteseeing robert walked up to the right mezzanine and dancing was crazy mad! seeing him walked up in front of me during wciby was unbelievable!
just the most amazing night from the lowest low to the highest high. million thanks to "R" - getting me in, getting me water, getting me a crew tour shirt.
i'll upload pictures and vids (w/full forever) after i'm back from europe in 2 weeks. :)
jilly- that's so awesome!! i thank "R" too for getting you in, thats very sweet!
ReplyDeleteThis show BLEW ME AWAY! I've never seen Robert in such an animated way before. REALLY in to the crowd. Being all silly and goofy and adorable. Actually chatty (well, chatty by Robert standards anyway). REALLY REALLY sad it's over but SOOO happy I got to see them again at the two shows in NYC. CRAIG - thanks again for the fun ride and keeping up all your endless hard work. XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteThis is my review (I also emailed it to Craig):
ReplyDeleteMaybe there has been a better Cure show. Maybe back in the day, when you could count multiple Cure references (often derogatory to be sure and usually about hair, but still…) in every issue of Rolling Stone magazine, when Robert Smith was young and great looking by everyone’s standards, when youthful passions and genuine rage flared up onstage, there was a better Cure show.
Maybe.
I spent a lot of time as a kid searching out Cure bootlegs in the pre-internet age, and I’ve been going to shows and watching setlists since’89, and I haven’t seen or heard about one.
Setlists are important. But not as important as things like where the band is playing, what they are feeling onstage, and what the crowd is like. Radio City Music Hall was gorgeous. The curtains, cloth seats, carpeting, and acoustically engineered paneling created a deep, rich sound devoid of that tinny noise one hears at almost every big arena. There were no fences with burly security guards separating the band from the stage. When Robert came forward to the crowd he was right there with us, touching fists with the guys and flashing that patented bashful grin to the girls.
The screams were louder in Montreal and the dancing was wilder at Madison Square Garden. The crowd here was mesmerized and enchanted. We experienced the exceedingly rare occasion of having ultra high expectations being met. It was a Hail Mary pass floating for three hours in the air before being caught in the end zone to win the Super Bowl.
The arsenal of songs that the band has at their disposal is stunning. Is there another band in existence that can play such a powerful best-of-the-best set while at the same time leaving out something like fifteen of their most popular songs because they had been played the night before? I don’t think so. The fact that this band has not already been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame is an appalling disgrace and needs to be rectified immediately.
One of our favorite posters, Clockwise Cat, memorably said that “vulgar hyperbole” was the only appropriate way to describe a great Cure show. Well fuck me sideways, The Cure kick ass on a scale never before seen in the history of this planet!
- Eric Joachim
Hey Eric! I met you at MSG, right? Anyway, awesome review! The Cure fuck us sideways, backwards, upside down and inside out!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great time at RCMH! I am still reeling from my 5-show experience! Amaaaaazing! Even better than Curiosa, and I thought that couldn't be topped. I wish I could have seen RCMH with Robert in the mezz, but at least I got the full Faith encore, which compensates in a major way.
Robert, Simon, Porl, Jason - you all are the best band EVERRRRRRR! Fuck yeah. :-)
hi cat!
ReplyDeleteyeah, we met, but briefly. you were worried about getting in and i was worried about finding April. obviously, it worked out fine for all.
it was a great pleasure to have met you.
Cat: did you get my dirty rotten message this morning?! *kisses!!*
ReplyDelete:PPP
This is totally random but I'm pretty sure the guy in that photo was standing next to me during the show. Well that is until I invaded some seats that were closer to the center because by encore time there ended up being like 7 empty seats in our row! It was embarassing that robert was peering down at us from the mezzanine and my row is more than half-empty! It was row 10 too, really pisses me off when I think about all the hardcore fans that were much further back.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I'll write some proper notes later when I actually have a computer and can get my head sorted.
hi annie!
ReplyDeletei very much enjoyed hanging out with you this weekend. any thoughts about the shows?
oh yeah, April got to meet Porl and Jason! I'll let her tell the story though... i was on my five hour long journey home when it happened.
eric: may we meet again someday! i remember you being very nice. :-)
ReplyDeleteanah: i did. sorry i don't have time to call back but i will call you this week! we're gonna go to montrose - the cool part of houston, then off to the show!
and yes, i DID talk to porl! very briefly, but he said he preferred me to you. ;-)
is there a recording of forever!??? video?? audioo?? text!!?? anything please someone!!
ReplyDeletecat: thanks. but you know who's REALLY nice? Sofia! she was awesome. i haven't seen her around in a while though. hope every thing is ok. didn't see her or her studly boyfriend at all on Saturday.
ReplyDeletethe meetup on Sat was AWESOME too. what a bunch of great peeps we all are! ...with only a very few exceptions.
Craig: you need to know that there are a TON of lurkers surfing your internet tubes. AND THEY LOVE YOU!!! also a smoking hot couple from Buffalo (escaped to Texas now), super-cool internet dorks, a couple of great looking cheerful guys from England with awesome takes on specific Cure tunes, a cure show virgin, underage drinker (but only one sip), and a martini drinker with Cure tats to die for, amongst many other awesome peeps.
dunno about putting banana liquer in my beer again though...
We love you Robert
ReplyDeletehi cat! i saw that you'd be in houston and going to montrose. you should check out etro lounge! its very cool!
ReplyDeleteOk well it is a very dull ride back to Pittsburgh so I will throw in whatever I can remember...
ReplyDeleteRobert was indeed exceedingly jubilant last night. He first went up the rail on the left side during one of the first songs, baby screams maybe? When freakshow started he went over to simon and danced in front of him for a while, blocking his view of the audience. It was the most adorable thing. Thenm he started climbing up to the mezzanine, but he stopped to look down very closely at the floor, and waved his arms around, pretending like he was about to fall over. The people right underneath all put up their hands as if to catch him. He also leaned back against the curtains at one point as if he was about to try and hide behind them. During close to me he bounded back across the stage, shaking hands and giving high-fives, and then went up to the left mezzanine during wciby. Obviously you can see all that during the video but I also glanced at porl and simon and they were LOLing at him a lot. Simon got on his knees to rock out for a while. Afterward RS said something along the lines of, "you know, being up there and looking at all of you, it's really good, to see what we've done."
Other random notes:
At one point, I think before DTU maybe, RS played a part of some goofy song.
During IBD Porl and Si really danced their pants/PHTs off. I had a total fangirl moment because simon's belt kept slipping down to the middle of his butt, which created quite a fetching effect with the bandana as he shook his derriere. He looked at his amp pictures at least 6 times (yes, I counted) but he really seemed like he was having fun. RS made some joke about him and his hands, couldn't really hear though.
And well, the actual songs... Only one of the songs that I really wanted got played (other voices) but I really cannot complain. The beginning of Catch sounded so different, I thought it was a new song until RS started singing. It also sounded slower at the beginning. There were a lot of tweaked lyrics on other songs, and RS really sang them to show off his voice more than they do on the record. And then of course... Forever. So unexpected but very very welcome. The lyrics toward the end seemed to be about a break-up where the woman is begging him to stay but he has to resist. Robert was definitely crying, and so was I...
As an overview, Eric summed up the show perfectly. I just thought I'd provide some little details that weren't covered in other people's notes.
Thanks for all Craig for keeping us so informed with such details..Now the reality sinks in that the Cure is gone & maybe someday again they will return to give us such a beautiful gift. Robert your so special & you have made soooo many of us happy & in love...pls don't stay away tooo long...enjoy your trip back home.
ReplyDeleteI'm still in a Curehaze, I am in awe of them completely. How can I face the grind tomorrow, I need to watch every fan vid and listen to every recording. Thanks for the info on the torrent, I had no idea. I thought it was only for audio also, but it seems you can get the whole vid, is that correct?
ReplyDeleteCraig you got us all hooked up yet again, thanks for keeping up the site. I know it was some roughtimes there when Robert changed up the band, glad you metaphorically kissed and made up. You always came thru for all of us, especially the band and I'm happy RS knows that.
annie! great review! thanks!
ReplyDeletetonilost: real life is way too mundane when contrasted with the scintillating brilliance of a cure concert.
ReplyDeleteCurehaze indeed. Well put.
summer, we went to montrose/westheimer, but it was too hot to walk around, so we came back. we have to be in line for our show at 6pm, so we're just back at the hotel hangin'. just too damn hot here. do you live here? i used to live in austin and had fun times in the 80s partying in houston.
ReplyDeleteeric, you are awesome and it was truly lovely to have met you! im sorry we didnt see you saturday! my boyfriend (now my fiancee!) and i got to the show right before 65dos and left shortly after the show was over. exhausted and feverish and happy :)
ReplyDeletelets all PLEASE stay in touch and have meet ups every so often. i miss you all already :c
i cant believe its all over now. christ what a rush. i sobbed through the entire show. when they played the big hand i was just about losing it. greatest night of my life!!!

ReplyDeleteGreat reviews Annie, Eric... what an amazing end to a fantastic tour! :^D
ReplyDeleteBuaha I just got home and watched the WCIBY video. So glad we got his little glamor pose at the end. I think I'll just watch all of these videos for the rest of the day... whoo!

Was it at MSG or RCMH?
What a wonderful couple you make!!
I am sooo happy for you both!
hi sugargirl! hope you had a blast this weekend!
ReplyDeleteHey April...I did and hope you did too...wish we could have spent a bit more time together, though.
ReplyDeleteBTW, were you able to sell your xtra tickets? The rev and I ended up in the 3rd row, right in fromt of Porl/Robert for the WHOLE @ MSG...she got some great video and I think we got some great pics too...
Thanks for encouraging me to come, it was an UNFORGETTABLE weekend!
i did! thanks!
ReplyDeleteawww...i don't wanna go back to work :(
But, I am still kicking myself that I didnlt stay for the RCMH show...I'm sure it was fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteohmigod! yes it was! And sticking around after the show was even better. I was literally shaking after Porl signed my ticket! lol....
ReplyDeletea dear friend of mine kept texting me from the preshow and even sent a sound snippet of one of my favorite songs that I was listening to as I picked up my luggage....too sweet, and made me really regret leaving NYC on SAT....I really should have stayed for that show....oh well, there is always the next tour, right?
ReplyDeleteOMG...how did I miss that??? when did you meet Porl? How did that happen....when, where, with whom?
ReplyDeleteDetails, April, I must have details....now :)!!
p.s. that's just great! I am soooo happy for you...kind makes traveling in from Portland sooo worth it, don'tcha think?
How cool is that :)
sugar*girl, how was the mermaid parade?! :D pretty wild, huh?
ReplyDeleteand thank you so much for the congrats! gosh...
it was a bit of a surprise. i mean, we had known eachother for 10 years, dated for 3, and this was our 1st cure show together and we had talked marriage before. i guess i had a feeling that it would be a very special night (was at rcmh, btw) :)
it was nice meeting you and rev, btw. its a shame everyone had to leave so soon!
We arrived safely home about 5:30 ET... quiet train ride home today.
ReplyDeleteAfter the two NY shows, we are definitely in a CureHaze.
Have much to post (pictures, thanks, etc), but just wanted to check in...
We were with Chris last night waiting for the band. Got Porl's autograph on my Freakshow CD artwork. Such a gentleman. I thanked him for Forever and he said "yeah, that was a lot of fun, wasn't it?"
I said "thank you, Mr. Thompson"
My first band member interaction. No wonder I am still in a daze!
If anyone needs me while I recooperate, just e-mail me at
KateAtCOF [at] zygotestar [dot] com
...I was close to Kate (thanks for omitting me!...jk)just hanging out by the semis as the crew was packing up all the equipment. Porl came out, did his thing, signed autographs and then about 10 minutes later, Jason came out.
ReplyDeleteSofia: That is soooo sweet! I am really happy for you both and wish you the very best!! Next time I'm in NYC, I'll be sure to reach out to you guys so we can get together and celebrate your engagement properly :)! As for the mermaid parade, I missed it...we were out so late the night before (Tick Tock, afterparty, taking Rev to the airport) that all I wanted to do the next day is stay in bed until my car came to take me to the airport.
ReplyDeleteand the minute I started getting the texts, I knew I should have stayed for the RCMH show....it's something that I will always regret
::::sigh::::
yes cat, i live here and today has been especially hot. hopefully you'll get to see some stuff while you're here.
ReplyDeleteApril & Kate: How wonderful for you both!!
ReplyDeleteWas it just MOB crazy or moe low key?
The Rev and I walked back to our hotel after the MSG show and we thought about hanging around as they semi's were packing up...but we didn't....I wondered who we would have been able to see if we would have stayed?
So you guys saw Porl and Jason, but not Simon or Robert? Or were you able to see everyone?
Wondering if anyone saw any of the band after the MSG show?

ReplyDeleteFriend of mine ran into Simon on Thurs nite at an internet cafe/shop in NY and said he was quite personable :)
ReplyDeleteBack to real life! :(
ReplyDeleteI just mailed in my last car payment this morning and I got into a car accident this afternoon. Nothing too serious, back bummber is a mess but nothing that cannot be fixed. I feel a bit stiff but I think I'm OK.
What a wake up call, I've been in a Cure haze for weeks now! Can't believe The Cure 4 Tour is over! :(
Now off to reading all the posts I missed last night, watching the youtube stuff & checking out all the pics! It will take a while.
husband is getting really aggrivated with with me (we have to run errands and I have to feed him) so I guess I'd better run...see you all later....

ReplyDeletecurekitty - sorry to hear that!
Kate-
ReplyDeleteMe and my girlfriend were actually sitting (standing actually for 3 plus hours) right in front of you for the show. I recognize you from the picture with the flowers in your hair...I was right behind the kid with the bad hair that I offered to pat down if it got in the way! I don't post here too much. I just got back to MA from NY about an hour ago...what an unbelievable show. I was so happy to hear "Forever" It really was one of the best shows I've ever been to!

That Freakshow video is just gorgeous! Honestly, Robert looks like he is having so much fun - surely he will want to tour again next year *sends good vibes to the universe*

ReplyDeleteAPRIL - I am sorry for not including you in my previous post... I was really tired when I was typing that. Still am, actually! Did you get home ok?
ReplyDeleteSUGAR*GIRL - Yeah, it was terrific seeing Porl. Very low key. Really, there were not many people there. He was very polite.
MIKEYG - I remember you. That moment about that guy's hair was hilarious! He just had that one curl sticking up that was in my way. Did you notice that his group lit up by, like, the second song? Then, later, his sign got taken away from him. Heh.
Admittedly, I find it hard to believe that people SIT during these shows... were you both feeling alright?
Wish I could have been there!! Saw the Atlanta show, WOW...I'm glad I'm not the only one who bursts into tears when I hear these guys play. My love for The Cure has been totally renewed, Thank you Robert, Simon, Porl and Jason! And all my fellow Cure fans for reminding me that it's awesome to be different.
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,
Steve N
C-that new pic up there is classssiccc.
ReplyDelete<3
Kate-
ReplyDeleteYes, the girl with that guy kept sparking that damn blunt every 10 minutes and then she'd light up a cigarette! I actually felt a little bad when they took the guys sign. I think it said something like "The Cure = Life" I wish I had gone to the meet up before the show. I don't post here too much and really wanted to meet some COF regulars. My girlfriend and I were gonna go to that brewery but there was a line out the door so we just ended hanging at some Irish bar down the road for a while before the show. By the way, did you know that older couple next to you in the two seats on the aisle? It was great seeing that - not that age matters cuz it doesn't but when I turned around and saw a 60+ year old guy shaking his ass to "Charlotte Sometimes" it was awesome! My feet hurt so bad. Standing 3 hours for the MSG show then another 3+ for RCMH and being in the city for the weekend, me and my girlfriend probably walked 10-15 miles Friday and Saturday around the city. But it was all worth it! It really sucks that the tour is over now. Hopefully they will do some further touring when the album comes out. I'll just have to post here more often to get my Cure fix!
That NYT reviewer needs to go shove a pineapple where the sun don't shine.
ReplyDeletePointy parts first!
MikeyG - We were at the meeting before Friday's show. We were on our way to Saturday's meetup at the brewery, when we ran into Chris(tinap) and Julian listening to the soundcheck, so we stuck around.
ReplyDeleteWe did not know the couple next to us. When they sat down, the gentleman asked if we were Cure fans (Of course!). And he said that he was. His date admitted to not being familiar with the band.
We let them know that 65DOS was really loud, and that we wore earplugs! My husband spoke with the woman a bit, and the man asked me some questions about album dates and timelines. As I rattled the albums off, he would check them off in his head, saying "have that one..."
I think he was indeed a fan, and it was great to see! They left after the end of the first set, though. They said they were tired, but had had a great time. They were very nice.
Rev, yeah, fuck him. Although I suppose it's a somewhat valid point, as one reason some people can't get into the Cure is because of Robert's voice. It is, after all, very distinctive. But I don't understand the mindset that appreciates his voice even while calling it annoying. Either it's a great distinctive voice or it's irritating; how can it be both? Rather a paradox...
ReplyDeleteOh well... very few reviewers seem to understand The Cure, and while I find that annoying, I also think it's kind of amusing. After all, The Cure wouldn't be the Cure without being misunderstood. It's part of the package.
Well said, Cat. It's so rare to see a truly faithful review that culturally gets it... but that's just got a whole helluva lot to do with The Cure's cultural relevance anyway.
ReplyDeletei was at both shows - met a few of you at TGI's on Fri b4 MSG show - very nice folks (all cure fans are). What a double-dose. I don't want to kill the buzz of those who missed these 2 shows, but honestly - especially the RCMH show - i cannot think of a cure show that was a better concert, a better demonstration of what they can do w/ music, and the way they affect their fans than that show! not even in the so-called "hey-dey". Until this tour, i too thought longingly about the "hey-dey" tours (especially Wish) - however, i wouldn't trade one Wish show for what i saw Sat. night, or any show since. To turn around in Radio City and see 5,000 (or so) people as one man moving to some of the "hits" is wonderful, truly wonderful, even if the "hits" aren't your favorite Cure cuts, as they aren't for most of us. After Sat, i am convinced in a way i wasn't before then (and i had already seen 3 shows on this tour) that the Cure are not going anywhere for a few more years. We WILL get another tour, soon, and i believer it won't be in 4 yrs. Thanks to a band that truly has integrity, and to COF for keeping us all informed!
ReplyDeletehow could I have missed FREAKSHOW !!! ??? I say Bob's gonna make an awesome lounge singer someday :P :P..
ReplyDeletebest video yet of 4tour !!! saving this one to my lj...

ReplyDeleteLounge singer? //gonk!
ReplyDeleteHi to all the great Cure fans, my husband & I had such a great time hangin out with Steve, Amy and Matt (mint car), got to see the band come into the sound check, I thought I would faint!! great seats BB sec 301, and yes, I got a great video of Robert right in front of me as he came back down the stairs singing "close to me" I was right next to the guy who got to slap hands with Robert...big sigh ...why did he not slap my hand? was I too short? I guess I will never know, but non the less, my video is so close up that I almost fell backwards filming. Anyway we had an amazin time, this was my 11th show since 1980. Wish I was rich, I would go to them all!!!! I pray they come back for the new album, another tour to relieve the pain now that they are home. PS I love the COF fans.. craig your site is my happy place...Peace to all

ReplyDeleteChris!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you are home safely... it was great meeting you. Did that video of Porl turn out?
Wow, I think I'm finally making some progress catching up with the comments and such on the NYC shows! I've not joined in on the chats(shyness and time constraints), but have followed along with some and have been a reader for something like 10 years.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think all of this catching up is helping me to keep somewhat afloat in my sadness that it's all over, heh. My friends, sister and I drove from Pittsburgh for the shows and had the added pleasure of meeting some lovely people, including Chris, Kate and April while waiting amongst all the trucks and Cure chairs after RCMH. I still wonder if Rob and Si snuck out while we were being blinded with that light... Or possibly your dream was more a premonition, Chris, and there was more than just equipment in those cases, heh. Or, or, or...
Even so, I'm glad we waited!
Oh, and I haven't heard this mentioned yet, but when Robert took Chris's roses and said he was going to save them for later, he also made a chomping motion like he was saving them to eat 'em when he was turning to set them down, hah! It was so cute!
I'm still finding it so hard to shift gears and get back to what I'm supposed to be doing. The ratio of anticipation and waiting time compared to actual show time needs to level out more... It seems I've been looking forward to these shows so long that now I don't know what to do!
So, I'll keep watching videos and reading comments and looking at the amazing pics that everyone is posting and add my sincerest thanks to them and of course to Craig as well for absolutely everything he's done for us and for them.
'Til the next one! :)
hey unstrungharp!
ReplyDeleteglad you decided to join us! that was great waiting all those hours for them! wonder what happend with that one girl that disappeared with that one roadie (the one that gave away drum cimbels (sp?) and picks). wonder if anything became of that - been thinking about that for days now! been "what-if"-ing myself to death!!!
TO: the girl that left with the roadie!!
if you are reading this - did you go to a party? anyone important there? you were right next to me reading my tour book.
kate - yeah the video is ok - you can hear me babbling like an idiot though! ill get hooked up with youtube soon. hubby busted his knee the other day and is needy with my time right now. :)
ReplyDeletehey, chris! I am sure that you don't sound like an idiot. :)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your hubby though. That's never fun!
Christina, I hope your hubby's knee is feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteIt WAS great waiting for them (All of you were so nice!), but my body wasn't too happy with me for it! I've been thinking about that girl too, and wonder if she has any stories to tell... I can see us all creeping and following along, hah. Really though, I'm a bit skeptical and would be wary of going with anyone I wasn't sure of. I still wonder though...
Speaking of that cymbal... Now that I've been able to get a good look at it, I really do think it might be 65 DOS's because it's a Sabian one and I thought Jason uses Zildjian. :( I guess I shouldn't have assumed!
Ah well, I can't be THAT upset!
Vegas lounge singah !! LOL. He'll have his own show at Ceasar's Palace. alternating nights with Cher ,Celine and Elton...lol...
ReplyDeletehere's my recording of Forever to the end of the show:
