Slipknot's Corey Taylor covers 'Lovesong'



From Radio: Last night, Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor kicked off an acoustic tour promoting his new book You’re Making Me Hate You: A Cantankerous Look at the Common Misconception That Humans Have Any Common Sense Left.

During the show he did a bunch of songs from his catalog, as well as a number of surprising covers, perhaps most notably a rendition of The Cure‘s “Lovesong.” (Thanks @ebbhead)

Cure Glasgow 1984 on Italian TV tonight



"Tonight at 0:38 the Italian network Rai5 will air "Rock Masters - The Cure" that suggests the concert that the Cure held August 25, 1984 in Glasgow at the Barrowland Ballroom .

The setlist : Shake Dog Shake , Primary , The Walk , The Hanging Garden , One Hundred Years , Give Me it , A Forest , Piggy in the Mirror , Happy the Man , Play for Today , The Caterpillar , 10:15 Saturday Night , Killing an Arab

I've posted about this on Twitter and in the comments here, but guess I need to make a post about it.

These articles from KpopStarz and Franchise Herald that everyone keeps spreading around, and sending in, are poorly (if at all) researched junk. NOT NEWS! The Robert interview they are referencing is this one from March of 2014. LAST year, not this year. Old news, nothing new. Those US shows in May and Sept? Yeah, BottleRock and the Riot Fests. They've already happened.

Come on, guys, it only takes 5 minutes to do a little research and fact-checking on something like this, before spreading misinformation. And I give you a 100% guarantee that when there is actual legitimate new album news, you won't hear about it first at KpopStarz.

You'll hear it from NME, XFM, Pitchfork, CoS, Rolling Stone, etc. Or whatever the big music sites are in 2025. :)

Update (07/06/15): And now Sideline is getting in on the nonsense. Again, this "announcment" was made in March 2014. If this "announcement from Robert" was actually new, where is it? Why not link to it? Don't you think the official site and/or the major music sites would have it?

Actually, I think they're referring to '4:26 Dream', not a "new" album. And again, yes, Robert announced it last year.So technically their report isn't wrong, it IS, or was, in the pipeline as of March 2014. But plans change. Pipelines are sometimes much longer than initially thought.

The Promise

I promise you, one day, Maybe Someday soon(ish), this site will actually be about The Cure again. Patience and Faith. Until then, there are lots of great bands out there. Go support them.

Just to be clear, I am not taking a break from CoF, giving up on The Cure, or anything like that, this is in response to the emails/comments I've been getting over the last month or so, complaining that this site only posts about Roger & Reeves solo stuff, the projects of ex-Cure members, and tribute bands. Where is the Cure stuff?

When there's Cure news to post, you know I will! But at the same time, I can't conjure it up out of thin air. We've gone through longer droughts of news than this one. It's only been 6 months since the last shows. I know we all get impatient sometimes, and we're "always wanting more", but this wait really hasn't been that long.

As far as the solo/ex-Cure stuff goes, I have ALWAYS posted that stuff, as I believe in supporting every member of the band, past & present. If I wasn't posting that stuff, there'd be nothing posted here. Would that be better? It takes nothing away from The Cure, and there's lots more Cure news to come. No worries there.

François Floret: The Cure is something we heard repeatedly when we were kids. So it was magical to have them before us, for us! Otherwise, I think of Sonic Youth, who was wrapped in a flag of the Route du Rock for a photo because you piqued their logo!  (Thanks Olive)

Following a three week tour of the USA in July/August 2015, Reeves Gabrels, long-time artistic partner of David Bowie and The Cure’s current lead guitarist, is taking his power trio, Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Friends, back to the UK. The band toured England in October 2014 and look forward to a fuller UK run in October 2015.

'Love and Other Tragedies' live in L.A.?

From Roger on Facebook: "A huge thank you to everyone who came to the concert on Friday night in London. It was a very emotional and special evening for me and I was very grateful for all the support. I have been asked to play Love and Other Tragedies live at a charity concert in LA in August and we are currently looking at logistics, it would be lovely to play it again and I will keep you posted. Thanks again. X"

And an update on the vinyl:  "Thank you for all the orders for the vinyl of Love and Other Tragedies, due to some logistical issues the orders will now be shipped early next week. Apologies for the delay but we want to make sure everything arrives safely!"
