Final night of this wonderful, fantastic, amazing tour. One final (for now) celebration of the band we love. If you're lucky enough to be going tonight, please enjoy the hell out of it. Don't worry about what they play, don't worry or be bothered by the crowd around you, just forget every trouble & worry and get lost in the music, in the lights, in THAT feeling, and enjoy every single second of the show!
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." And you were lucky enough to experience it! What a year! What a tour! What a band!
@CraigatCoF happy to offer you this final Craig Moment, thanks for all you did, do and will do for us :) Until next time! #TCM pic.twitter.com/a0W9gOKn1Y— Johan D. (@_Johan_D) December 4, 2016

cheers craig - heading off shortly & it will be epic!
ReplyDeleteYes it will! Have a great time!
DeleteI hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling they will close this tour by performing "Faith" and announcing it's over
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, that's not happening.
DeletePhew...It would still be sweet if they closed with Faith to end this amazing tour!
DeleteApart from the faith bit, that's happening in a It can never be the same/Faith final encore. I have it on the good authority of my hungover wishful thinking.
DeleteHow do you know that, Craig?
DeleteIs it your wishfull thinking or do you know something we don't?😊
I remember Robert once saying "The Cure are not the kind of band who would announce that we were breaking up . It would be more like, we haven't done something for so long that it would be obvious we had stopped." Well, it has been nearly nine years since their last album. This tour does ring a sort of farewell vibe, unless they are still trying to develop the current lineup into a great studo band? I doubt that because, Roger and Reeves are both incredible musicians, they could easily add to Robert, Simon and Jason's way of working, besides Roger has done it very well with them on previous albums. I figured the reason they Cancelled 4:14 Scream was because they didin't want to be performing new-ish material on this possible farewell tour, but then they added ICNBTS and SITL. Hopefully the future is bright!
DeleteYou've got a point. I was enjoying doing a mixture of dancing and taking photos but it got crazy with all the dancing so I switched it off and just went along with it, was worth it and had a fantastic time.
ReplyDeleteThere were two or three songs where I was distracted by trying not to get crushed to death at the barrier, but I only left with a few bruises so it's all good.
is there an afterparty anywhere?
ReplyDeleteThank you Craig ! you've been a star :) and also to anyone else that reported set lists, scoped and filmed and posted :).
ReplyDeleteJust met Eden walking towards the metro station
ReplyDeleteThanks to COF (and to James), I'm attending the last show of the tour. Hope everyone will enjoy it.
ReplyDeletePlay Pornography and The Top tonight!
ReplyDeleteWonder if there'll be a Forever end?
ReplyDeleteCraig's comments reflect a feeling about the Cure that so many who rely on this website for all Cure needs share. Just this morning I had to drive to the airport insanely early - for work on a weekend - and put Disintegration on. I was there on Thursday and Tuesday (Manchester) and still feel the natural high of the shared experience we are all part of in connecting so much with this band. I feel lucky they exist and I have got to see them so many times. Whatever the line-up, set list or venue nothing can beat the moment RS and his band walk on stage and all the anticipation that precedes this moment. We are lucky. There is no other band like them and probably never will be. We were there.
ReplyDeleteOk... where's the button for me to like this commmet? :)
DeleteWell written Andrew, so true! And the biggest THANK YOU to Craig for this site, the best about the band there is!
DeleteAnd also thanks to Craig for giving us this forum. A truly wonderful community.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing tour!!! Thank you so much, Craig, for keeping us on track and updated! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteSo what do we do now???
ReplyDeleteDamn, the Cure toured this year???
ReplyDeleteKeep a close eye on the twilight sad for up-coming gigs. I don't think we'll see the cure for a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks Craig for all that you do. You have gone above and beyond for years. And apologies for the occasional BS that you have to tolerate when we let our passion carry us away a bit.
Thanks to the cure for still being briliant. So hope you do give your fans some new sounds soon. And if not. Thanks for all that you have given us down the years. Rest well.
Thank you, Craig, for all you do!!! I followed you way back in the day-lost touch due to life--but reconnected following you surprisingly this year. I enjoyed the time of my life seeing my band once more at Merriweather earlier this year and then followed you relentlessly for the rest of the tour. Thx to my family for baring with Mom cooking dinner, etc. peeled at her tablet and random cheers from the kitchen....sometimes they probably think I lost it.
ReplyDeleteBottom line, The Cure is the band of a lifetime. I grew up with and am what I am today partly because of that music. I only hope we have one more go....❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️RS
London nite 2 was legendary - finale nite was extraordinary (Manc was good .. ssshh!) - there was a point tonite during one of the encores where the rapturous applause transcended to some kind of religious fervour .. breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteOh- obligatory 'hi' to 'jolly nice person in my block' (no standing front centre for me tonite - Simon's side of the stage) - Andrea from Prague in this case ;)
Great tour, one of the greatest they ever did, sad that it's over but glad he said: "see you again". So it's not over yet.
ReplyDeleteI really think it's such a effort to do a tour like this, with so many songs in the setlist. Many bands can not do that. Only the cure :-)
For all the complainers: of course they play the hits but they also did many songs to please the hardcore fans, don't forget that.
So glad i went to Leipzig and Amsterdam.
Thank you Robert and the boys for such a fantastic tour and for all the wonderful music and live performances over the years. I was lucky enough tiki see them in cologne and as ever, they were awesome.
ReplyDeleteI have been a lifelong Cure fan since I first heard them as a teen in the early 80s. Throughout all the years, one thing has never changed, the Cure have been an epic live band.
I have friends who went to see RHCP in cologne a few days after the Cure. They felt short changed after a 1.5 gig and just one encore. Cure fans don't know how lucky we are, we should cherish this great band while we still have them.
Thanks also to Craig for this great resource. I found it during this tour and seeing the set lists and comments added massively to my anticipation before the cologne gig. Keep up the good work!
Nothing compares to seeing the Cure live, I hope we will see them again.
I think Cure fans do know how lucky they are. However, bands have a responsibility to perform well if they are to be cherished. The Cure have done this for most of the tour, but not in Manchester!
DeleteOh and can the Jason bashing be put to bed now! I think he has proved himself now!
ReplyDeleteI think the Jason bashing has always been unfair, he is a fine drummer.
DeleteThere has been times where I've disliked his drumming, mainly the relentless Tish Tish of hi hats (I'm no drummer, I think that's what it is) but he was fantastic over the last 3 nights. I was high up to the stage side last night and able to see how hard he works it.
DeleteSometimes I don't like his drum sound, but I'm sure that is a collective decision. I think he is a good drummer.
DeleteI always liked his play and think he is the best drummer Cure ever had but this time... Wow! How many arms does this man have???
DeleteI like you andreas!
DeleteCan't believe it's all over...what a fantastic 3. nights.....I need to go again!

ReplyDeleteA big THANK YOU to you Craig for sharing The Cure's Magic 24h/52weeks/year after year to the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you The Cure's worldwide fanbase can be a part of CUREWORLD!
ThanQue.
another great night - twilight sad were ace, the cure majestic - 100 years stole the show for me. cheers to all who went
ReplyDeleteI went to the all 3 shows with my argentinian flag.I tried to stay in my sit so hard but my latino blood didnt let me...Incredible shows! Thank you so much The Cure!!
ReplyDeleteHey dude, I saw you with your flag! :)
DeleteI went to London to seeing them from Hungary. It was an amazing gig, the best what I saw, ever.
Great gig last night more than made up for the Manc disappointment! Nice to hear Robert in full voice and also showing gratitude to the fans. Deep Green Sea one of the best versions ever. Fantastic crowd and performance. Faith restored! I'd still like like them to make their best album since Bloodflowers...
ReplyDeleteI think his voice is still a bit dodgy, but I really wish I could have gone to London to wipe out the memory of Manchester. I'll be left with that memory until the next tour!
Deletethanks craig, it was amazing to be there through the fandom that you have created and maintain... and of course, thanks to the boys! always, d
ReplyDeletewith a final setlist like this, how can they not be prepping for the next trilogy??
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the fans are cheering up the the finals setlists and finally think it was a nice tour, i'm glad to read that. Unfortunately it's over... for now, but spring will be here soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for COF, it was nice to follow all the news and tour here, keep up the good job, cheers.
This video I shot and edited together is my thank you.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/thecranes/videos/10209204944934004/
The last three nights of this tour were excellent. The setlists were varied and the band seemed to be having a good time on stage.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the following comment, that I saw after the Helsinki show, may be correct (and perhaps from Robert himself, but that's only because of the capital letters): “A LOT GOES INTO PLANNING SETLISTS. YOU GET WHAT YOU GET. MARK MY WORDS, THIS IS THE LAST WORLD TOUR FOR THE CURE”.
However, it looks like the show was being filmed last night so I hope that there will be a DVD or Blu-Ray soon (in Cure years). I also hope that there will be at least one show where the Head on the Door gets played in full and I am guessing that it might be in Paris…
Anyway, for the time-being, thanks for the memories… Fab G
Nothing wrong with his voice at Wembley, as strong as it has ever been, especially on A Forest. I can't see what the fuss was about
ReplyDeleteI must admit I was one of the set list critics from early in the European Tour, but having attended the Wembley shows, the 2nd night must go down as one of my fave Cure shows, the atmosphere and form the band were in were fantastic, the last night was great too, if not a little predictable with the final encores, but all in all brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThe Twilight Sad were excellent as I knew they would be.
It would be nice to have a new album out soon though, and back to the dark side!
About Robert's comments before lullaby : could anyone tell me what "mic'd up" mean ? Thanks!
ReplyDeletemic'd up means they are microphones in front of something (an amp cabinet or person) to be recorded or amplified via the PA system.
DeleteThere were signs stating the shows were being filmed for release and your presence indicated acceptance that you might appear in it. What is odd is that they have never released a Live from London film despite that being the nearest venue to 'home'.
ReplyDeleteHis voice wasn't astonishingly strong on Thursday. On Saturday? Note Perfect.
did he say (I think it was on encores) something like "according to Wikipedia..." and then started to play a song?
ReplyDeletehe said they still haven't played this song yet according to fucking wikipedia ..before shakedogshake
Deleteyeah it was before Shake Dog Shake
ReplyDeleteI didn't see any cameras at Wembley?! If there were there weren't any close up shots being filmed!? Can anyone confirm?
ReplyDeleteThere were three or four of them by the sound desk in the middle. Also one or two guys between the crowd and stage were doing close ups.
DeleteI saw three cameras on the mixing/lighting desk in the middle of the arena. Couldn't spot any at the front though.
ReplyDeleteThere were at least 2 chaps with cameras filming the band and occasionally the audience at the front.
DeleteAt the very end of the show, one of the blokes scanned the entire front audience at the rail with the camera.
DeleteYeah, one of them looked like old Simon's tech (cannot rememeber him name). Perhaps still in a crew, but not a bass tech any longer.
DeleteReturn from Wembley, London to my country Latvia! It was amazing show and we all feel very privileged to be in final tour show! Hope that will be next one or even more the Cure tours! And maybe someday in my Latvia! Thank You Craig for reporting!
ReplyDeleteWent to all the UK concerts and still in Cure World bubble of joy that I was able to be actually there and experience the most amazing nights with the most amazing band ever. I shall never forget last week.
ReplyDeleteI went to Manchester and all 3 Wembley shows. So very happy to be there! Thank you Craig for keeping me updated on this tour. I wouldn't have known about alot of these shows without this site. Thank you again!
