Any one knows what they ' ve played at the soundcheck?
ReplyDeleteUh oh! Already looks like they're playing a bunch of awesome songs on the 2nd stop of the European leg of this giant world tour in their 40th year as a band. When are they gonna mix things up???
ReplyDeletevery much a Hotd set tonight ! Great to hear baby screams and sinking !
ReplyDeleteIf this tour leads us to a new trilogy production next year, I literally may burst.
ReplyDeleteThe Exploding Boy?
DeleteHahaha. Your shortest post in months lol!!!
DeleteThat's hilarious. 😅 But I think you spoke too soon...You probably had not scrolled down to see the remaining posts at the time you responded...LOL.
DeleteTHANK YOU LASSE
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU CRAIG <3
Main setlist and first encore are simply.. fucking brilliant! Some changes in the other encores would be welcome. Tour looks promising. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteBaby Screams, Sinking, All I Want - why?! Why these songs didn't played in Helsinki???
ReplyDeletep.s. hope will hear this in Rome or Amsterdam later on this tour..
Helsinki Set was better. One hundred years and Prayers for rain. Stockholm Set is too Pop for Me!
DeleteI mean only these 3 songs, anyway HelSinking) gig was a great!
DeleteLooks like the COF clock has re-emerged. I don't recall seeing it on Friday(?) I tried viewing JC's scopes but none allow replay. That's what I get for sleeping through most of the show and waking up too late! I really should get my act together. Looking at the setlist, I'm glad The Baby Screams is making a comeback. I was never a huge fan of the song but the live version really blows away the album version. The live version of this is fantastic. Footage from the Athens show from mid-1980's always comes to mind when I hear this. I forgot which video compilation it was from. I think I still have the VHS tape floating around somewhere. As far as live vs album version, I know many fans feel the same way about Wrong Number. I look forward to hearing Baby Screams more often on this tour. I've always wondered about the lyrics...very enigmatic, not unlike many other Cure songs...wonder what "Pleasure(heaven) fills up my dreams" refers to? You also can't go wrong with Sinking. It's one of my favorite songs on the Head album. I also enjoyed seeing the juxtaposition of Jupiter Crash and Deep Green Sea. They seem to pair well together, at least thematically. In addition to the water theme, they also seem to share the common theme of dashed expectations, among other themes. Speaking of which...This was a solid set with a good mix of songs, but considering there was nothing earth-shattering, I get the feeling it still has yet to satisfy the hungry ghost of some of the more disgruntled fans from last time. I still can't believe the sheer number comments the last show generated.
ReplyDelete150 (and counting)...Insane! And none appear to be spam...(oink oink!). Haha. I don't think any single previous show on this tour has generated anywhere near the number of comments as the first show from the Euro leg. I might be wrong.
Still reeling from the shock of yesterday's discussion of the show. I've engaged in my fair share of (admittedly
cringe-worthy) setlist bashing myself, but even I have to acknowledge that Friday's discussion seemed a bit too harsh, especially considering that it was only the first show. It makes the comments from both the US/Oceania legs appear tame by comparison. I will have to pore over the comments again, there were a ton added since I last checked them. I really enjoyed the spirited debate and rantings from that show....Though it appears some of us may have become a bit "unhinged" and "unfiltered" HAHA. I am a little embarrassed to admit it, but sometimes I look forward to viewing the commentary both here and on Twitter just as much, if not more than, the actual show itself. Come to think of it, I have the tendency to do the same with my local paper (LATimes). If something from the hard copy/digital e-edition is particularly interesting I'll check the website just for the sole purpose of seeing the comments for that article. Yahoo articles also tend to have great commentary though it's been awhile since I read a Yahoo article. Then there's CNN/Guardian...that's another story altogether. Sorry for digressing...
In the case of COF, I love reading the other fans' reactions and musings. I hope the other fans keep the comments coming! 😀
WTF?
DeleteEDIT to post above: I love reading A FEW of the other fans' reactions and musings, BUT definitely NOT the ones that are borderline snide.
DeleteAlso, if I am not mistaken, I think you must be the same "UNKNOWN" individual who said my comment about RS's black sweater was "sick" awhile back even though there was nothing unusual about that particular comment.
DeleteWTF is right. Creative Writing 101
DeleteThat's funny...I really don't generally enjoy writing. It's a chore, TBH. But when it comes to the Cure, passions suddenly ignite and I find myself acting in ways I normally would not. If it were some other band I sure would not be giving the time of day to write these crazy posts. BTW your username looks familiar. I think you'd referenced the "creative writing" before around the time of Sydney. You said we should focus more on real life issues and not creative writing. Personally it couldn't be more real life than this...They're not necessarily mutually exclusive concepts.
DeleteWhat black sweater? Wait, oh yeah, you mean when you were talking about taking Roberts skin cells off the sweater and making clones for personal use. No,nothing unusual about that comment. ROFL!!
DeleteAnd I just want to be clear. I absolutely love reading your rants. By all means, write to your hearts content. Free speech is a beautiful thing.
DeleteLOL!! Yes, I do get carried away quite often. Okay, okay, you're right about that cloning reference. It was just a touch creepy. HAHAHA. I was just being facetious. As for the lengthy posts, I probably need to fine tune the art of brevity. :D

DeleteGreat show! Robert sang the best I've heard in a good while. Brill main set with Sinking as the true gem. First time I heard it. Actually shed a tear. Only drawback not a single song from Faith or Porno. 4 shows left :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I do hope I hear Plainsong live for the first time in London (or Underneath the Stars).
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic concert! I can't wait to see them again!!
ReplyDeleteThey play 35 song show, now. That's really great. If I could choose 35 songs, they already played on this tour, they will be:
ReplyDeleteShake Dog Shake
Watching Me Fall
Step Into the Light
Piggy in the Mirror
The Perfect Girl
All I Want
Screw
Kyoto Song
Sinking
This Twilight Garden
2 Late
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep
Like Cockatoos

What a fnal couple of encores that would be, if only!!! I was at the 2nd night in Birmingham on the prayer tour - check out the encore for that. Heaven!!!!
DeleteOn my playlist I have my fave versions of some songs.....to me the trilogy set of pornography is my favourite. ...especially from figurehead to cold and end and a forest from show......
DeleteI am going to be positive and say this is a much better setlist, as someone else has probably mentioned it would be nice to hear more Porno/Faith songs, and a little less pop songs. The last two encores are weak (in my opinion)It would be great to end with Faith, Untitled, or Bloodflowers, but there you go....
ReplyDeleteI'd swap untitled for Homesick, but yeah. I'd pass out lol
DeleteI must say the concert was excellent, a great mix of songs and a few surprises too.
ReplyDeleteBut...... It's been my 14th cure concert spanning over 20 yrs and in many different countries,( mainly the uk)
Anyway we decided we would go see the guys in Stockholm and with flights and hotel booked the concert appeared to be booked out months ago.
So we had to go down the route of buying two standing tickets on Viagogo for e320 and a handling fee of e50 which hurt but hey it was my birthday.
To my horror last night the gig was only about 65% full which means the tickets were block booked by these such sites. You could actually play a game of football in the back half of the standing area, an absolute joke.
So I got burnt but am delighted these site's and various individuals got well stung!!!
There should be more done to avoid this happening but whether the cure care or not I don't know.......
In theory it was a sell out for them.... on paper anyway.
Still love The Cure
Setlist diff to Helsinki:
ReplyDelete-Last Dance
-Let's go to bed
-One Hundred Years
-Prayers for rain
-Sleep When I'm Dead
-Lovecats
+Jupiter Crash
+All I want
+Sinking
+The Baby Screams
+The Caterpillar
+The Perfect Girl
Both cool. I prefer Helsinki because of Lovecats, which I've never heard on any of my 19 Cure shows. Hope to hear it in Hamburg or Cologne
