Daryl Bamonte posted this on his Facebook today, Robert's handwritten setlist for The Cure at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on April 30th, 1984. Daryl has also been posting photos of a lot of great Depeche Mode stuff, too, so thank you, Daryl!
Don't think so. Probably meant a film was to be played for that particular song. Daryl says Revox meant the Revox B77 reel to reel tape player. Flute and harmonica are pretty self-explanatory I think. : )
Off topic, but here's one for the gamers.. Boy's Don't Cry is featured in a game called Rocksmith, which comes out September this year and allows the player to plug a real guitar into their PS3 and play the real lead and rythm compositions found in the songs..
Other artists include: David Bowie (Rebel Rebel), Stone Temple Pilots (Between The Lines, Vasoline) and Nirvana (Breed, In Bloom)
@Shawn: Probably because Simon returned to the band the following year, making the subject matter of the song obsolete. But you're right, it's a shame. The Top is one of the band's most underrated gems, and I wish they'd played it live more often.
thanks.
ReplyDeleteFilm? does that mean it's been filmed?
And what about the other notes?
I think they are notes as to which guitar to play (vox, chet) & reminders for the flute & harmonica.

ReplyDeleteYeah, and as Bananafish17 says, Vox and Chet are most likely the guitars he needed for that song.
ReplyDeleteI thought that vox wasn't for voice and chet i didn't know, so thanks for explaining.
ReplyDeleteWould kill to see a set like that these days

ReplyDeleteWas - Did you watch it? I assume it was the same as the March 3rd broadcast?
ReplyDeleteah that's so cool! thanks for posting :)
ReplyDeleteCraig - yes I watched it. It was the same as the 3rd, but this time I had my PVR recording!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the band hasn't played 'The Top' in nearly 28 years?
