Rumor: South America in April/May

(Ad for The Cure in Lima, Peru on April 17th at National Stadium. Is it real? We should know soon. Thanks Jorge)

The latest nonsense from South America comes from this article (English) which now says those "confirmed" & "locked in" Cure shows in April, are now going to be in May. IF this article can be trusted.
Once again, and I know I'm a broken record on this, but no shows have been officially announced, and until you see it on the Cure's official website, Facebook, or Twitter, no matter what the media & promoters swear to, it is not confirmed.
(Thanks @Pjotrke)

And just to make it all the more comical, this article (English) is sticking with the April dates, and claiming an announcement will be made on Saturday (Jan. 19th). (Thanks Moisés)

Update (Jan. 25th, 2013):  2 new articles, from Popload (English) and Cancha General (English), are now claiming that the official announcement will be made on Saturday or Monday at the latest. Keep in mind that this will be the 3rd time that this announcement was supposed to be made, so be optimistic, but don't hold your breath. The articles claim the delay in announcing the tour are due to the band adding more dates to the tour. Instead of just playing in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, the article claims that shows have been added in Peru, Colombia, and Paraguay. Is any of this actually true? Guess we'll find out on Monday. (Thanks Perfect.Murder and @biva77)

And now this article (English) says the announcement of the show in Chile will happen on Jan. 29th at the Hard Rock Cafe in Santiago. (Thanks Mad Bob RJS)

Update (Jan. 26th, 2013): This article says The Cure are confirmed for Bogota, Colombia on April 19th. And here's a TV report about that. Popload runs down what they know, what they think they know, and what they hope they know. (Thanks @biva77, @Lilialoman)

  3. Roger on Facebook 01/14/13:
"When I post here its about my projects not anybody else's. As far as I am aware I have not confirmed to play any shows anywhere this year with anybody. If you want information about other people that I play with I suggest you look on their websites as I previously mentioned. Thanks!"

  4. So just to be clear Craig. Unless its announced officially on the Cure website, Facebook, Twitter etc etc then its just plain auld bullshit?

    1. yeah. Not to mention I doubt the band appreciates stirring rumors up.

  5. Burton - re South American promoters. That comment is inappropriate. Get a sense of perspective.

  6. i wish they'd officially confirm the dates. or announce that there wont be any tour. this is getting ridiculous.

  7. Yes, an official voice confirming or denying a tour would be a great thing these days.

    1. Noone beeds to confirm or deny rumours. Thats not how thibgs work. Everyone got lives. Just wait and see. Thats tge sane thing to do. Never demand and never expect. Peace.

    2. In case you don't remember it was RS himself who started all this rumors, this time talking more about a fact than a rumor. The same happened MANY times all these last years and I want to see them since more than 2 decades.
So please keep all this nonsense you said in your pocket.

    3. In 20 years you never tried to go to the mountain? Well then ... Wait until rock moves!. What i say makes perfect sense to me. Robert doesnt OWE anything to yiu does he?. The fact u are a curefan doesnt give yiu tge right to demand and demand. Amyway. I wish they play SA so many people like u get a happy moment. robert can say horses fly and get away with that . Thats the way he is!

    4. In fact I've just asked for my visa for US in case they tour there this year. I'm 100% decided to "go to the mountain" this year as you say. Otherwise if they don't come to SA this time I'll never see them.

  9. I still remember when Robert said that we, south americans, shouldn't go to Bestival in 2011 because we'd probably get something here that year. Loads of people gave up on going to Bestival and guess what? We never got our tour that year and they never said anything officially about this... It's sad the way that, sometimes, they treat us :/

  10. @ bgolls. Dont take it personally. They are a european band in the end... They are not " obligued" to go anywhere if they dont want to. I hate the fan " demanding" attitude. I had to go to the mountain cause it didnt come to me. Is sad but true but if i was able to do it then anyone is. Is not like give and take ... Not at all... We as fans should never demand. Not even new albums.

  11. And if they go south ( which id love) id go see them play there. If it happens it happens. Robert doesnt need to make anyone happy but himself. Just like anyone right?. He is just a man!

  12. Tired of peoples demanding and expecting attitudes and comments. Robert got a life for god sake!. Is incredible how fans can get so dependant. Is sad. When he announces sonething then great before that just think about him as a human being...with other interests and other things on his agenda apart from music.

    1. Definitely you haven't followed the news about The Cure coming to SA all these last many years.

    2. Yrs I have. Robert can say anything. He is human. He can change his mind. When they sell actual tickets for a cure gig in any southamerican city then yeah celebrate before that is just stupid to keep on DEMANDING!. Anyway... All this is just a waste of time. When they announce they announce and people buy thats it. Robert can say anything he can also change his mind at the last minute. He is not perfect and has all the right to withdraw or stick to his word. As a fan I shoukd recommend you only wait and see. And if tgeres someone you should show frustratiob or anger to is the southamerican media and rubbish reporters . Chill out. Enjoy the cure for what it is: perfect music available to all of us . Peace.

    3. When i was 14 i went to see them to brazil cause they woukd never go to where im from. In the ither hand...if u wanna see a band and they dont go therr well then go to them!. Ive always travelled to see them. Its been many years now. Sonetinea yiu need to make YOURSELF responsible for what u want and dont demand that thibg that u want to cone to you. Is just what i think.

    4. Whrn and if they tiur soutg america i will go there but is not like i need to push for that or demand it . It would be a perfect time just like last summer but is just a matter of robert and the band wanting. For then is nit a job is a passion and needs to cone as a desire from them to play. I respect roberts personal life and desicions, also the desicion to not respond to false announcements.

    5. The problem is when RS himself makes a false announcement. I know he's human bla bla, but I knew from the begining that his own announcement to latin media was bullshit. Can you believe, as he said, that they'd go to Venezuela? He started naming countries in the map (Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Perú, Colombia, Venezuela) and when he mentioned Ecuador he hesitated and said... "no, because nobody goes to Ecuador" (nobody does to Venezuela either). IMO he was lying, I know him since 25 unlike new fans.

    6. He has the complete right to say bullshit anyway!. He statd it with a ..." whata tge point of me saying it" / with a pisses off look/. In the other hand...things happen in personal lives.... Stop amd think about that always. Im not implying anything though.

  13. Look folks.. Here's the deal. These tours are rumored to involve potential festival dates. It can take something as simple as another headliner cancelling to put the schedule in upheaval.

There's probably clauses that prevent the Cure from announcing any dates until after the festivals are announced themselves.

Thus begins a long hard road of playing mum.

It's very possible that there are dates, and these dates are all hinging on one show/promoter to get their ducks in a row, sign a document, finalize negotiations with another band, wait on a government permit, etc.. etc..

There's no point in getting excited or upset. The Cure will come when the Cure will come. They will announce dates when the lawyers say they can announce dates.

South America is expensive to tour, and this means the budget needs to be at a certain level. Breaking an agreement, and jeopardizing that income stream could blow apart the entire budget and tour.

    1. Yes, that may be the point, but I'm afraid all these rumors are a lie from the beginning.

    2. Last time i saw the Cure in Sao Paulo. Now it´s time to come back again.
Lot of people getting excited with the tour and see The Cure. So this newspaper lines must be a signal of that WISH.

Another newspaper article that mentions the next 29th Jan will be finally revealed the date, ticket info, etc, about Chilean concert.

The place of announcement will be the Hard Rock Café Santiago.

If this is true, i think at the same time we´ll know the full SA tour schedule.

    Let´s see.

  19. Can't see much new with the logo. Isn't it exactly the same as the 05-09 logo with a slight underwater/curve effect on it.

Could have been by Robert using photoshop.
