  1. Maree, your recording has the bleeps and bloops from the Meebo chat room! :(

  2. I was wondering what that sound was! I thought maybe it was another program on my computer!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Oh no! I wondered what those noises were.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yeah, don't worry, Shawn, I am fixing that. A PITA but not The End of the World. :^(

    ReplyDelete
  5. thanks Maree, that's amazing! wish I was there!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah... it will be. It will just take longer than it would otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  7. i knew i should have stayed for coachella

    ReplyDelete
  8. Please can you tell me a what local time Grinding Halt was played?

Of the local time of the venue in which it was taking place.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think it was around 12:35-40am in California.

  10. anyone notice Robert's fond way of looking at Simon finish out "a forest"? It was kind of Motherly, like the way my mom looked at me when i received my high school diploma you know. Something's up but we may never know. This show was better than Vegas. I also was able to create a decent mosh/slam pit during "push" to which some people said was a first (so easy to get buy in from Cure fans). What a wonderful show and my 14 year old son was a part of it as well. I gave him a fond fatherly look when he passed on the weed that was offered to him by some bozo. But really, watch the end of "a forest" and see what i mean.
Hello to everyone, I met Heron tonight (woo hoo sweet lady). The last time Cure played coachella the sound was terrible, Robert puked on stage, and the crowd stunk. This was a whole new world and i hope this dark album fucking rocks.

  11. Thanks Craig

BTW - Craig, do you perhaps know what time is NOW in California, I have troubles with counting this... I have all the maps opened but can't seem to count it

  12. I see, I found this:

  13. I was online since 9 am in the morning so they must have played Grinding Halt 09:35-45 our local time,
that was a legendary show, truly

have a nice time there in CA everyone
    and everywhere else

the world is so small with the internet!

  14. Another thing that sucks about it is that the hiccups in the stream come through as well. Which means some more editing. Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  15. And I am so happy to have been a part of this even from far far away...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Maree, they say they will be re-webcasting this!

Check back soon for highlights of the show right here at AT&T Music to relive some of your favorite performances. You will also be able to watch highlights of the shows on your AT&T handset and on AT&T U-verse.

    or am I mistaken?

    check the webcast site again

    ReplyDelete
  17. I will, maybe the stream will be better... it would be great if they played the whole thing again.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "highlights of the show"
means they will play JLH and IBD, then no more from the cure!

    ReplyDelete
  19. wow! just got to watch this. you could totally hear The Cure for JSET, whereas right on the rail where I was you just couldn't, only person left to hear was Jason drumming. Amazing performance!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, "Highlights" just won't cut it. This is a show that needs to be seen from beginning to end, uninterrupted.

    ReplyDelete
  21. i so wish i could have been there! one of the greatest festival gigs the cure has ever done!

    ReplyDelete
  22. i want more shows, i hope there is something in the works for the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. no problem, cool meeting you at the bar paul, just confused you with the other. sorry. for as shitty as the pearl line was for entry, i was very satisfied with my position near the rail.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i think i met you by the slots andy, maybe i am the other.

    that whole entry was rediculous.
was there since 8am with a few others and got pushed back so far when things opened, still made it to the rail, but wasnt easy.

    ReplyDelete
  25. OMG, Andy, your shirt is freaking hilarious! XD

I still have a piece of (unchewed!) gum Simon gave me when I met him-9 years ago, dork that I am.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maree, I had left and missed this, so Thank You!!!

    *hugs*

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for this! My computer's version of the webcast cut in and out....

Do you have the whole show?

Holy crap, I wish I could've gone to this show... Two nights in a row without a REAL endings!

    ReplyDelete
  30. WOW

They didn't cutt off mccartney but did for rsx....

    That is so douche...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks for the Video & Pictures Maree & Andy! They are great!

Looks like it was an awesome show despite the fact the plug was pulled on the band way to early! That really sucks for the band & the fans but it still looked like everyone had a great night. Wonder what the band thinks about all that nonsense?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm sure that we'll hear from Robert about this soon enough. I'd also like to hear an explanation from the promoter. As far as I'm concerned, if one of your headliners wants to blow past the curfew, why not let them keep playing? It's the band that's responsible for paying the fines, not the promoter.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hmmm....I wonder why the promoter did that too?. They let PM play way over the limit but gave The Cure such a crappy get off the stage now send-off!

I guess it's like the one article said, Paul M is a Beatle and Robert isn't. Still it's no reason to pull the plug on The Cure like they way they did.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What... no andythecurefan.com????

    : ) : ) : )

    ReplyDelete
  35. Craig, I put up the HD one now, and ditched the original, here's the updated URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PIJggv3_VQ

    ReplyDelete
  36. As to the Curfew: I think you have to take into consideration that it was the final night of the festival. A lot of work has to be done after the final act has finished to end the festival. Opening night, they can let it slide.

That said, they could have let them finish the last song ans say goodnight!

(and let's get the Queenie over there to knight Sir Robert, and over here let's get the band into the fucking Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ghanisbuli, yes I do have the whole thing, and it cut in and out on mine too... it seemed to lose the stream briefly every now and then... just not very often.

    ReplyDelete
  38. OH!!! And we need to get the COF Hall of Fame sorted too!

    SaraB took giant steps -LiveCast-

Maree is collect bonus points -Video Capture-

    Rev. is an open -BOOK-

    Craig -goes without saying-

    (and i'm sure there's more!)

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wonder if they'll actually have to pay 33K for that, or? And I assume Macca got more time as he is well...a Beatle.

    But still!

    -----

I ony got like 4 hours of sleep last night, but it was worth it. It was an amazing show.

Agreed Morris (again:) Our Peeps deserve awards, cookies, and *kisses for this weekend!

(i think someone needs a nap)

    ReplyDelete

  43. Thank you for the commentary last night. I had so much fun!

    Smooches,
    Pussycat

    ReplyDelete
  44. Billboard has a story about the last night, but of course, the ending apparently didn't make much of an impact on them, as they seemed content to point out 'Inbetween Days' and 'Love Song' as the highlights of the night...

My Bloody Valentine, Cure Close Out Coachella

    ReplyDelete
  45. Highlights of the set, I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  46. F'kin Awesome! but I think to cut off their set it was rude...

Robert moving his hands on the guitar and his mouth without sound it was brilliant...!

    ReplyDelete
  47. this weekend makes history, although I wasnt there for coachella, I still got to see it. robert smith rocks.

  50. It good to see that despite the sound being cut off, RS doesn't seem to be too upset. He kind of seems a bit amused about the whole thing. I love that man!!!

They should have let them finish the set. What's another 20 or so minutes going to do? Why have the festival if your going to do stuff like that.

And I'm surprised a riot from the audience didn't break out after they did that to The Cure but it was good it didn't happen!

    ReplyDelete
  51. @ Morris..."and let's get the Queenie over there to knight Sir Robert",LOL...He'd never say yes, but you are absolutly right....so many people get knighted here in England for no reason at all apart from being "celebs"(ie never done anything in their life) it would be more than deserved if Robert was asked..he(and the band) have done so much for popular music...but again he'd probably tell them to fuck off!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. At least Robert didn't get shot. Was it at the MTV 4:13 Dream live concert he said they would be shot if they kept playing?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I just watched the youtube video of 'A forest' and it looks like RS has the last two fingers of his right hand taped together. Perhaps an answer to what happened in Vegas?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks April for uploading At Night. I really truly love that song, so happy they still play it live. Unfortunately they didn't play it in Rotterdam last year (we did get a 10-minute Faith though!), so I jump at any opportunity to hear a live recording of the song.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Podgirl: Yes, Robert cut or injured his hand during the Vegas show, and it became very swollen. Don't know if that was the reason for the Vegas ending, as there were many problems that night. But I have a feeling that we will hear from Robert very soon. : )

    ReplyDelete
  56. Craig, I really hope that he gives us an explanation...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Very A Forest/Play for today 1980 TOTP videos...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Just watched your video Maree.

Wonderful. The most rock n roll thing I've seen in a very long time!

    ReplyDelete
  59. look at Robert watching Simon finish out the end of "a forest", priceless. He sure does have a more loving attitude lately. What would we do without their music? I would have continued in the early 80's with Run DMC and the Dead Kennedy's and definately wound up in jail :).

    ReplyDelete
  60. Haven't slept much either but it was SO totally worth it. What a fucking EPIC show last night. MY GOD. I don't know how many times I picked my mouth up off the floor; I was blown away and I wasn't even there! I didn't know the coachella people pulled the plug... but The Cure kept playing anyway...

Thanks to Maree & everyone who recorded this HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE from our favorite band....

Thank you Craig for all the work you do, and to everyone else who so generously shares their experiences.
I'm so happy that those people got to see The Cure TEAR SHIT UP yesterday... Fuck, if Robert can play like that with an injured hand... so happy for those boys. so proud of them.

    THE CURE FORFUCKINGEVER~!! <33333333333333

  61. I'm still recovering from this amazing show. THANK YOU Maree for the BDC vid. I still have chills remembering this. And when Robert came up to us and was mouthing the words to Grinding Halt and we all screamed GRINDING HALT! that was it. I was so lucky to be at the rail for this. Pics to come

    ReplyDelete
  62. Nico - No prob. I tried to get what I could! Geez, I wish it weren't over!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi everyone!

Could you please post a link to the A Forest with Bob and his injured hand, I woul dlike to see that..

Very Top Of The Pops A Forest ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Craig, what about the link that I sent to you, from the perspective of one of the sound engineers?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Damn, Shawn, I'm just starting the updates for tonight. I'll get to it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Haha, sorry about that. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. @Craig,
I'm splitting the Coachella mp3 as we speak. Credit needs to go out to Morris Coffey for taping it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Am I the only person on the planet who recorded the Coachella stream? If so, my apologies - I am so busy that I don't see getting the video out there until the end of the weekend... I should have time to get the audio out in the next day or so. You shall just have something to look forward to, I suppose. :^P

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Maree,
I believe you are. Please please please get it to us as soon as you can.

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  70. So I am 2 tracks shy of finishing clipping the Coachella show. Then gonna tag them all and then upload.

    :D

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Craig,
you should be getting an email from Sendspace.com in about 20 min. My ZIP folder with the Coachella separate files is being uploaded then sent your way. :D Enjoy and once more thank you to Morris Coffey, I credited him in the ID3 tags if you open up the files in iTunes.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Maree, probably are in the cure world, im not sure, but thank you for doing so! =]

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hey, Andy, I'm curious as to why the total size of your split files is smaller than the massive one from which they came. Any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  74. They're smaller because the quality where the splits are made deteriorates.

I don't mean to be a dick but can you please take the splits down? It says on my tumblr that you can split them for your own personal use but not to distribute them. I know I sound like a dick but it says that clearly on my tumblr. Thanks for listneing everyone though. When I get back home from America in June I will distribute the .wavs then and you can split/distribute those however you want.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Mozza: Very sorry about that. I completely overlooked that part on your website. I have removed the link to the split files.

    ReplyDelete
  76. thanks everyone- I'm trying to d/l the whole show mp3, but can never get the capcha thing to enter- how can anyone read this ??!!
