Was with the band 2 mins before gig when 5.9 earthquake struck. Filmed it all! Back home today! Thanks for the adventure SA!

Given Tim Pope's legacy with Cure videos and full length concert films for Robert - I think your comment re: Reflections vs LatAm2013 footage being released - is sorely uniformed.
I'm not so sure. Robert may decide that he just didn't, "know what happened," as it gets filed away in his massive collection of Cure recordings, probably in a section marked, "The Joke is on Them!"
well, I suppose there is a chance RS could say - oh who cares that we spent all that money to drag an full fledged film crew over an entire continent....
Maybe they only hired a local Sydney production company? maybe because the footage wasn't worthy of mass release? Maybe there were issues with the footage taken? OOOOORRRR Maybe it made more sense to recreate Reflections in specific markets, that would appreciate the 3 first albums played in their entirety.
A local company was used.. I'm inclined to think they didn't get takes of some songs for both nights for some reason.. Not sure what the budget/schedule was being it was a festival run over a number of days. But if the above was the case, they may not have been able to go back and do those songs again due to the opera house being used all day by other acts..

you're not taking into consideration the fees, costs and licensing that goes into releasing DVDs and Music. There is a huge cost involved - and we are talking about the real possibility of the Reflections DVD being an even more severe financial loss, that just 2 nights of footage. the first 3 albums are hardly of interest to the wider spectrum of Cure fans, and I venture, even long term loyalists would not rush out to buy it.
it was a little nerve racking and I'm from California...
ReplyDeleteI would not hold your breathe on ever seeing any of that footage. We have been waiting 2 years for reflections

DeleteThey went to the extra expense of filming and editing both of the 'Reflections' shows in Australia, but that didn't stop Robert from shelving it.

If that was the case, then why didn't they film any of the other 'Reflections' shows to make up for it?
DeleteThat may well have happened..
DeleteA wild speculation on my part..
It didn't.
