  2. Maybe they had to wait for ACL to sold out or so before announcing a gig that near...

    1. Not that sure. This kind of agreement iis frequent when signing a big name. Anyway a good thing for Texas to have a gig in a small venue.

      Delete
    2. Not that small (think Troubadour in Vegas, the Olympia in Paris or the Opera House in Sydney) but smaller that Latin America stadiums for sure.

      Delete
    3. @ davidaftertherain.. El Paso is not a 'small' venue, it's 12,000 seats. It will attract Cure fans from Albuquerque, Tucson, Las Cruces, etc... I'm sure the show will sell out.

I'm in Phoenix, it's a 6.5 hour drive, but I'm going to wait and see if they schedule an Arizona date or Vegas. If not, I will probably make the drive to El Paso.

    4. Theie site says 9,000 for concerts if I understood well. And when saying small venue, I meant "not a 50 or 100k festival. I hope it´ll sell out, as I'd love Monterrey to sell out.

      Delete
    5. Yes, 9,000 with end-stage seating. If the floor is GA (standing) then you can fit more people in there. Anyway, it feels like the right size for a Cure show, to me.

    6. Found an official figure for a sold out Britney Spears show : 11,531.

    7. Sounds good, but it is yet another configuration: center stage with people seating around in all sections, see the BS chart on ticketmaster.com or watch this: http://youtu.be/An6ygShqztw (good luck with that! :-) End-stage, with closed off sections behind the stage, ought to be less than that, in the end.

    1. The love of playing live.

No band, ever, plays a 50 set song like RS did, or 30 - 40 songs every night at headlining shows like they do who is in it just for the money or to promote something new.

The Cure could easily get away with playing a set like they did at Lollapolooza and sell out arenas, they could dial-in-the-hits like Depeche Mode does every tour and never really go outside the box.

But RS loves to play live, loves being in The Cure and knows at 54 years old time is running out.

      Delete
    2. yes, i understand. but also playing not always the same songs is something new. the setlist is the same since so far ago..

  6. My bet is we will see shows in the Midwest, then Northeast, and then circle back down to New Orleans between 10/12 - 11/1. That's 19 days, they could easily fit in 8 shows or so.

I doubt they will just fly back to England and not use that time, but who knows.

Highly doubtful they will go West. Unless they go West after Austin, and circle back to New Orleans, and then run up the East Coast...

Who knows. I'm sure promoters are itching to book them because they always sell a lot of tickets. Personally, I'm saving my dollars for the Top/Head/KM shows.

  7. Does anyone know if the floor GA or Reserved?

    1. If the Nine Inch Nails chart at Ticketmaster for their November show there is any indication then it should be GA, hopefully (I really don't like reserved seating in the pit).

      Delete
    2. Here is where I differ... I really don't like sharing GA with 20,000 people on the floor. ;)

      Delete
    3. I hear you but the response of a seated audience (or even one standing, each in front of their seat) and that of a pit full of people are different enough to sometimes change the feel of the whole show. It doesn't compare, the liveliness. Don't get me wrong, I have at times wondered what the hell I was doing in the middle of the crowd, although it's usually a matter of picking the right crowd, but, no matter what, I keep getting back there. And then there's the matter of fairness: what have those with more money done to deserve being closer to the stage than others - but that's a whole nother debate.

  9. I thought I would give my two cents worth on the shows in October. Why are people asking for shows in the North East and West? You people got 3 Reflections shows and you want more? Clearly Robert wants to play arena shows in places that have never seen a Cure show. The end is near and we all know it.

Take a look at all the major cities that have never, ever seen a Cure show. It only makes sense for the band after Austin to hit the Midwest, Mid South, and South East. My guess is the band will play: Oklahoma City, Little Rock, Indianapolis, Louisville, Greenville, Memphis, Birmingham, Tallahassee and then head to New Orleans for their 1 hour and 45 min hit show. Everyone in New York and LA can wait till next year for the next 3 album shows.

    1. then again saving for the next trilogy show may be best. THE TOP, HEAD OTD, KISS ME...that would pretty much TOP any setlist i can imagine...a setlist with just the hits or the gloom/doom or a nice combo. damn, those three albums have it all in my opinion.

  13. Well, crap;) Joke is on me yet again! I believed this rumor, initially, and was thrilled. It being such an unlikely town, I easily believed it was BS when someone told me it was, and was grateful I didn't fall for it;)
Instead, I bought Oshee VIP tix and ACL( OSHEE wasn't what I expected, but that was completely due to my lack of research - nobody's fault but mine).

So, now, after twenty four years and over twenty Cure Shows- both hither & thither- my last two Cure shows will be FESTIVALS;)

    YAY;)

I can only laugh. MAN I'd love to see them in El Paso, of all places...in the MOTHERLAND! But, alas...

Hate how the ink has to dry before announcements, but I completed understand that it's not intentional.
    I jumped too quick again!

Honies, hope y'all enjoy the show and cover it beyond expectation, as COF & it's contributors always do!

Have fun for me! I'll be reading!

    1. No, that's just for the TM inventory system. Seats and row numbers mean nothing. The earlier you get to the arena and line up, the closer you get to the stage.

      Delete
  23. this is what TicketMaster says about the GA number:
General Admission refers to seating or standing areas that are not assigned or reserved, and are occupied on a first-come, first-served basis. When purchasing tickets for a General Admission event, you may be quoted section, row, and seat numbers, however these are for inventory purposes only and do not reflect any actual seating location.

Please ensure you carefully read the Event Information and Ticket Information screens when purchasing tickets: Any information on whether your tickets are General Admission will be posted on one or both of these screens. Seating arrangements vary for each event, and there may or may not be seats of any kind available. Ticketmaster cannot guarantee seating for any event that is sold as General Admission.

    1. Well, assuming the seats go from sections T to G, that makes for 6618 seats. If that setup amounts to a total of 9,000 people, the floor should hold about 2,400. As I'm not entirely sure about the total number, let's say there should be between 2,400 and 3,000 Cure fans in there. (Compared to a festival or a stadium in Latin America, that's not much! :-)

      Delete
    2. it a basketball venue, isn't it? i don't think the floor is gonna hold that many. i dunno tho. just a guess

      Delete
    3. Good point. The basketball floor of that venue is 127 x 84 ft = 10668 sq ft (a bit less since it's an octagon) and in a tight crowd, figure about 5 sq ft of space per person, or 2.5 sq ft in a packed crowd. That means about 2,000 to 4,000 people: looks like it works, more or less.

      Delete
    2. Good point, Craig, on lining up for the Floor Seats on the day of show. Are you in town Wednesday, Craig? Or maybe up for something after the show? I do think a lot of people here would like the opportunity to meet you. Just in scanning da internets I can across two places near Don Haskins. Thursday night Lowbrow Palace is hosting Austin's shoe gaze/psychedelia band Pure X, which if they were playing late enough might make for a great nightcap. From what I could gather they are open Wednesday as well but haven't seen what acts if any are scheduled. The other place that looked interesting is Crawdaddy's Cajun restaurant-bar...lots of cheap drink specials. Really could use someone who lives or at least knows El Paso to share what their experiences are. Craig, would you be interested in at least posting a headline notice to see who might be in for either a Wednesday, pre- or post-concert gathering on Thursday...see if there's enough interest. I remember in Berlin we were able to get a consensus on the Tempodrom's attached bar and that worked great for meeting Cure fans from all over the world. What do you think?

So, Iʻm guessing they will open with Plainsong in El Paso! I love it, of course, it always gives me chills, but I would be really happy to get Open just this one time. Also, I would be thrilled to get a special Pornography encore, but if I could hear Prayers for Rain live just one more time, that would be great too....
