  1. hmmm.. well guess we'll have to see about that... *crossing fingers*

  2. They also say "26 Days Of Static" is the special guest, I'm sure I'll tune in anyway. Just got back to Cincinnati from Chicago, wish I was in KC tonight

    ReplyDelete
  3. radio websites are always so tacky looking :\ except for npr

    ReplyDelete
  4. Interesting... So much for a live album from this tour, lol.

I hope now that they have gotten a few shows under their belt we can see some different songs in the setlist...

I am praying they DROP 'Wrong Number', that is the worst song in the setlist, and why are they playing it?

Are they still promoting Galore, lol?

    Makes no sense...

    ReplyDelete
  5. lime green, lime green and tangerine...

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'll be shocked if they actually air tonight's show. Much more likely they would air an old show. Like what XRT did on saturday night.

    ReplyDelete
  7. get rid of wrong number, alt.end, add some stuff from bloodflowers and faith, and some deeper tracks from kiss me, like snakepit or like cockatoos. oh, and 2late (i figure if i say that enough, it'll happen).

    ReplyDelete
  8. i'd like bloodlower stricken from the records along with numb and wrong number, gone and club america. also the self-titled except for 2 songs.

    ReplyDelete
  9. How are ya feeling, MonkeyButt?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well, if they do air it, those of us on Macs won't see it anyway. It just kills my browser repeatedly. Took all precautions necessary, but it's designed for Windows users.

    ReplyDelete
  11. v: thanks for asking. i'm better- we got an a/c unit in the bedroom and the cats & i have been in there all day drinking ginger ale and eating wheat thins...

    ReplyDelete
  12. so is 65 days of static even any good? i know i should've looked them up, but...

    ReplyDelete
  13. well, I'VE been drinking ginger ale and eating wheat thins. the cats have been sleeping.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 105.1 better be telling the truth. They've got me listening to Bon Jovi right now. : )

    ReplyDelete
  15. craig, nothing is worth that!

monkeybutt, which of your cats was trying to talk to us the other day?

    ReplyDelete
  16. "radio websites are always so tacky looking :\ except for npr"

too true. 90% of them look as if though they were designed by some clueless lackey at clear channel...(they probably were!)

also, is there a link on their website for this? i can't see past all the ads for "earning income from home" and "hummer" this and bbq-explosion that...

    ReplyDelete
  17. sofia: that was nina. she likes to come up on the desk and stand on the keyboard. but ONLY when i'm on COF!

    ReplyDelete
  18. MonkeyButt: Hehe, I was imagining your cats partaking in the snacks! Hope you feel better soon.

    ReplyDelete
  19. morning all...how long til the show starts?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Satellite radio is the only way to go. I got it about 18 months ago and I've never looked back. I couldn't ever listen to terrestrial radio at this point.

Sofia, 65 Days live up to their name, it was essentially 30 minutes of noise.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I thought 65DOS was interesting in Chicago. Not my thing, I thought perhaps the singer was stuck in traffic and they went on anyway. Little did I understand the genre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Math_rock Math Rock, who knew?

    ReplyDelete
  22. math rock??? i know what it is and i like some bands classified as math rock :| but i figured they were some electronic outfit for some reason

    ReplyDelete
  23. millertime and monkeybutt, Wrong Number is great live. They should keep that.

sofia, WHAT? Bloodflowers is a great album!

    ReplyDelete
  24. hey jpx but good noise or bad noise?

monkeybutt: so she's either trying to sabotage your posts or she's super interested in the cure! anyway this is ripe for lolcat material

    ReplyDelete
  25. I remember thinking, at the time of its release, that Bloodflowers is so intimate. I felt like it was ROBERT telling us why it was the last album. Oh well...

    ReplyDelete
  26. shawn, i HATED it. everything about it. the insert pissed me off. it was so cheap. i felt like the songs were cure parodies. it was soulless to me

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sofia, okay noise but forgettable. It was ambient reverberation.

Thanks for the link, Brian, I wasn't aware of the genre.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think it's better than THE CURE, minus LABYRINTH.

    ReplyDelete
  29. alright i just heard 65 days of static...pfft. ill be coming to the show late.

    ReplyDelete
  30. well the cure was no good either, for chrissakes

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK, JACK FM is playing Eric Clapton right now. Are they seriously going to simulcast?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good evening fellow cure fans! So sad I can't be in KC tonight, but following the setlist in real time is great. Open or Plainsong tonight? Do you think those 2 songs will be the openers the whole tour or perhaps we will get a suprise soon?

    ReplyDelete
  33. theyre going to start tonight with 'play with me'! bets anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  34. do the word's "mena's cure chat" or "SATATAM" mean anything to anyone here?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sofia: No, but along the lines of "chat", I was thinking we should all be in an IRC channel for these shows. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would still love for them to open with Want - but I think tonight it will be Plainsong again.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't hear anything, and the speakers are connected. I've tried on FF and IE, but neither browser will let me listen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 65DaysOfStatic are incredible live. so powerful! the records my friend and i bought in fairfax don't do them justice - though they're good.

we really enjoyed them. got their tshirt. : )

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't think they will change the openers... The only other song they typically open with when they don't have a new album out is Shake Dog Shake...which many casual fans don't know....

I'll be surprised if we see any more major changes, seems like they are stuck in this setlist rut and won't be adding anything too shocking....

Robert always seems to think the US wants only the pop songs, except for the Dream Tour this is pretty much all we get, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i miss the old days of writing postcards to one another!
happily this satisfies my need for immediate gratification.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Stiff as toys as tall as men

    ReplyDelete
  42. bloodflowers reminds me of bailing out of a bad relationship back in 2000 and moving back to california from maine, which was long overdue. i wish the TC had about 12 more songs on it like "going nowhere", then i wouldn't hide it deep away in my record collection and pretend it never existed hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Shawn - you're not missing anything, trust me! I'm only listening in hopes of hearing them mention this broadcast.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Millertime, The Cure played a lot of rare stuff during the WMS tour in Boston!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Bloodflowers is my favourite Cure album - I can't even put my finger on why, maybe it was just the right album for that time in my life.

Jason: I agree with your comment about Going Nowhere - def, my fave track from TC.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I pulled out Bloodflowers a couple of weeks ago after not listening to it for quite some time and I was quite suprised by how wonderful it sounded. I didn't remember liking it that much when it was released, but for you Bloodflowers naysayers it may be time for a new listen.

    ReplyDelete
  47. question to all: if you have a significant other, are they as big a cure fan as you?

    ReplyDelete
  48. ML68 - Cure will be on in 10-15 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  49. like all my boyfriends make fun of me for liking the cure. the teenage boys of 'these days' think they're rediculous. it's really annoying. but i know how great they are and 2 surprisingly are coming with me and a friend to the radio city show!

    ReplyDelete
  50. sofia, how could you hate bf????

    :-(

I think it's a gorgeous album, one of the cure's best. i hated it at first, then grew to love it.

give it another proper listen and get back with me when you like it, chica!

    :-D

    ReplyDelete
  51. The only song my husband likes of The Cure is Inbetween Days - and even then it is only the guitar intro.

I tell fellow Cure friends that my hubby has great taste in women, but crap taste in music.

Can't complain though, he lets me live and breathe my Cure world without complaint.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Craig why arent you going to any of the Texas shows or Atlanta? Never miss an opportunity to see the cure...cause you never know if it might be your last chance.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hey,v! Good to see you on the board =)

I don't understand all the Bloodflowers hate, it's a terrific album (IMHO)

    ReplyDelete
  54. In the words of The Terminator - "I'll Be Back". I'm watching this from work, but have to go to a meeting.

Enjoy the start of the concert, my money is on Plainsong.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Beachy - too much nonsense to get into right now. No regrets though.

    ReplyDelete
  56. hi guys...well i think that if you bought all tickets for any concert of the cure maybe is boring listen all the time the same songs but if you got ticket for 1 concert it's a marvelous setlist, of course i would like that they drop:
    llulaby
from the edge fo the deep gren sea
    wrong number
    us or them
    close tome
    disintegration
    end
    alt.end
(all are good songs but i think it's enough for me)...

    and change them for:

    other voices
    a letter to elise
    how beatiful you are
    the holy hour
    the blood
    maybe someday
    the hanging garden

because i know this is the only option that we have....

but if we can ask for 6 songs diferents(at least)....my change could be:

    2late
    halo
    treasure
    bird mad girl
    the upstairs room
    the last day of summer

    but as always...it's impossible...

    ReplyDelete
  57. clockwise, you wished 'gone' on me and my shows! i simply cannot trust your judgement ;p

    ReplyDelete
  58. Didn't The Cure once play a show with 2 songs from each album? THAT was a grand idea, I thought! I wish they would do THAT again, or at least feature at least ONE song from each album, and then pull liberally from several of their best (which *I* get to decide ;-) ).

Seriously, though, why do they ignore certain albums? Because they weren't well-received (like WMS)? But I am pretty sure most fans like or love BF, right? I know there are some BF naysayers, but come on! At least play BF and MS and TINI and OOTW - those are pretty popular tracks from BF, right?

And at LEAST play Jupiter Crash from WMS since that's a pretty well-received song...

I mean what the fuck is UP with Wrong Number?!?!?!
And Never Enough??!?! And alt.end - at least play Before Three from TC!

Gawd Robert annoys me sometimes. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  59. i think it'd be great if they did something totally off the wall as an opener, like icing sugar, with porl whipping out his sax. the last few shows (i'm excusing robert for being ill in chi) have seemed a bit rote. would be great if they just went all out and played a bunch of stuff they've never played.

    ReplyDelete
  60. While we are waiting, I have to ask how old you are? (you being anyone who cares to answer). I saw a healthy mix of ages in Chicago. I'll be 43 in July, and neither of my ex wives understood why I listened to The Cure. But then I'm a Dead Head too. Go figure

    ReplyDelete
  61. jpx, you're my new best friend.

    boooooo sofia!

(okay, did I really wish gone on you?? LOL... but I like gone)

    ReplyDelete
  62. jpx, to be fair i think i've been the only one to knock the album so heartily.
    i don't know...it was disappointing to me

    ReplyDelete
  63. sofia, my last two girlfriends were huge Cure fans. In fact, the last one is in KC to see them with her girlfriend, and both of them will be going to see them again at Sasquatch.

I met the first of the two while looking for Club America members in my region, as I was the Western NY regional leader at the time.

I met the second on The Dizzy Edge, a Cure message board run by Lane Bickerstaff, who used to run Deep Green Sea.

    ReplyDelete
  64. monkeybutt: I agree with you there - do something radically DIFFERENT for a change! but i don't think they will on this tour. These last two tours have seemed to be contrived to win back fans and win new ones. But WHATEVER. Just please the hardcore fans, dammit!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Clockwise - that was the Inland Invasion show. They played the songs in chronological order too. Think they did that in Paris too. Bataclan 96 I think.

    ReplyDelete
  66. hey brian. 17 years old here. :) graduating on may 31st! hah.

    ReplyDelete
  67. to whoever asked about our sig o or friends liking the cure: nope. my man hates 'em, truly. but we share a deep love for tom waits, and that's all that matters. we also share a deep love for woody allen and stanley kubrick. but yeah, he hates fat bob. boooo boyfriend!

    ReplyDelete
  68. bah! i'll be the pariah!

    brian: i'm 30 (in 10 days D;)
my boyfriend and i have known eachother for 9 years and we met on a cure chat room :D so i'm feeling pretty lucky

    ReplyDelete
  69. craig - thanks. i couldn't quite remember.

    i think it's a great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  70. i'm 36, married for 8 years, and my wife really only likes the popular cure stuff heard on radio. i'll play her a track from time to time that she'll like, but she really can't seem to be bothered. still, she's going to the hollywood bowl show with me.

    ReplyDelete
  71. My fiancee loves THE CURE just as much as I do. I'm lucky.

And alt. end is a good song!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Brian - representing 39 here. : )

    ReplyDelete
  73. Brian: I will exit my 20s when The Cure next plays Dallas. :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. JPX is 38.

I want them to open with "Do the Hansa".

    JPX is kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Regarding BF ... all I'll say is that it is better than The Top ...

It's sadly funny for me that Robert has decided that the [Open/Fasc St/End] song grouping is always mutually exclusive to the [Plainsong /Prayers/Disintegration]grouping ... as I would rank all of these in my Top 20 Cure songs. That being said if I had to choose I'd go with the "Open" group for Vancouver, as Fascination St and End are my 2 favourite songs ...

    ReplyDelete
  76. i'm really really old. just turned 95. i feel great, though!

    ReplyDelete
  77. eff that! i LOVE the top! lysergic and slide whistles, baby!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm going to be celebrating my 47th birthday when I catch the cure show in ATL.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Clockwise.cat, you don't look a day over 94.

    ReplyDelete
  80. yes, yes, i do look quite good for my age.

really, though, i just turned 41. loved the cure since i was 18!

    ReplyDelete
  81. yeah, the top does rule - i like it better than wish, km, AND disint. suck on THAT yo! it's prolly my 6th fave album by them - tied with tc, or maybe just above it.

    ReplyDelete
  82. oh dear lord! this crazy radio station thought it would be a good idea to play the 311 cover of Lovesong just when its about time for the cure to take the stage?

    ReplyDelete
  83. "i like it better than wish, km..."

    :@

    you are a true original!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Wish is my very favorite Cure album =)

    ReplyDelete
  85. come on now, sofia. wish and km are mediocre cure albums at best! they are great albums, but not their best.

imo, of course. but if you disagree i will bite you with my feline fangs!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Awesome a healthy mix, nice to hear, My panic has settled since believer-ko's post. One last quiz before the show starts. Do you collect shows? I have 105, most from Dream tour. BTW, the Jack just played a Cure cover (Lovesong by 311). They just stated on air they are rebroadcasting at 11. Stay tuned

    ReplyDelete
  87. sorry jpx.

i mean, sorry that you like it so much! :-D

    ReplyDelete
  88. wish and kiss me are my favorites!

of course i disagree. but to each his own so lets keep the biting to a minimum!

    ReplyDelete
  89. someone posted this on the cure for mfc board :
    New song "underneath the stars"

    for tonights show...hmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  90. is that 'new song ?'

    ReplyDelete
  91. We'll always have Bloodflowers, Clockwise!

    ReplyDelete
  92. my faves are THOTD and Disintegration :).

    ReplyDelete
  93. I want to hear Underneath the Stars right now!

    ReplyDelete
  94. okay, let me just say this: plainsong is a great song, but a) it NEEDS keys, and 2) it's not fucking 1989 anymore, ROBERT! GTFO and play something different, like WANT, or OOTW, or LOST, or hell, THE HOLY HOUR!

Of course, he won't do that. For even though Robert has repeatedly said he doesn't want The Cure to devolve into some Greatest Hits Lounge Act, they are rapidly becoming that with these setlists! He is defying his own wisdom!

    ReplyDelete
  95. A new song to start? Are they sure?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I'm 17 (18 in Two months). I hope I'm not the last of a dying breed of teenage boys discovering The Cure. There doesn't seem to be many of us about.

Oh and anyone who says Wish is mediocre is a fool. Just my opinion =)

    ReplyDelete
  97. I hope to hear "Underneath the Stars" underneath the stars on Wed!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. underneath the stars...pretty. i hope it sounds like fteotdgs

    ReplyDelete
  99. New Song as opening track !!!!!

    EXCELLENT !!!!!!!

Craig, tell us more about the song.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Shawn - yes. Eduardo thought it was Plainsong at first, but it was something brand new. Rain was mentioned in the lyrics.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Please, please, PLEASE tell me that someone in KC is recording this. I want to hear the new track!

    ReplyDelete
  102. sofia: i've retracted my claws and am hiding my fangs for NOW!

yes, yes, to each their own. :-)

jpx: yes, indeed we will. *gazes dreamily into jpx's eyes*

holy shit, another new song? BRING IT ON!

    ReplyDelete
  103. to answer sofia's question:

my significant others have never ever ever been into the cure as much as i have...which totally sucks. i dated one girl a few years ago who knew a few things off of disintegration and KM3, but that's about it. :(

    ReplyDelete
  104. you mean plainsong did NOT open the show?!?!? did robert read my post and reconsider?!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Clockwise, Out of This World will be our song =)

    ReplyDelete
  106. Gosh, a new song as the opener. I sooo wish that I'm not at work.

    BTW, here's one 28-year-old fan.

    ReplyDelete
  107. relax, there is no simulcast. In fact, I don't think there will be any delayed broadcast of any part of the show, think whoever made that report misunderstood what they heard. NEW SONG? Holy crap, was RS reading this before they took the stage?

    ReplyDelete
  108. OMFG. I'm about to have an orgasm. Another new song. Mmmm. I hope it's wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  109. How long was the opening track?

    ReplyDelete
  110. my husband basically has no clue about Cure music other than what I make him listen to in the car, but he's voluntarily coming with me-lol.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Bet the live audience were freaked with them opening with a new song. I'm guessing this will be the opener to the new album.

Haven't heard A Boy I Never Knew in a while....hope it's still on the album.

    ReplyDelete
  112. IAM TYPING WITH MY NIPPLES!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Sounds good. Clockwise! Then how about a little Maybe Sunday =)

    ReplyDelete
  114. this reminds of the Einar from iceland days...

    ReplyDelete
  115. yeah, i wasn't terribly keen at first with ABINK, but now i think i love it, and am hopeful they will have it on the new album. it's worrisome they haven't played it in NA at all.

    ReplyDelete
  116. why hello, full moon. i don't think we've had the pleasure! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Very impressive Full Moon!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I can see they're going to have a special setlist already! Lucky KC fans!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Yeah I hope they are still putting ABINK on the album. With them taking the lighter selection single album I hope it doesn't end up on the cutting room floor....again.

    ReplyDelete
  120. New song was at least 6 minutes long.

    ReplyDelete
  121. full moon, i'm impressed. what prowess you have with your typing teats!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hola!!! They are mixing it up.. Piggy In The Mirror???

    ReplyDelete
  123. is this all to make up for his shot voice?
sheesh. kansas city i hope you appreciate this!

    ReplyDelete
  124. I'm 41 and I thought it still was 1989 ... I gotta buy me a new calendar LOL

    Disintegration
    Wish
    THOTD
    KMKMKM
    17 Secs

The Porl riding shot-gun guitar was the golden age, and I saw them 2x in Toronto - 1987/1989. Not since, but 08 in Vancouver coming.

Just to show I am not just a hit song fan, I'd love to see them play The Exploding Boy live!

    ReplyDelete
  125. @andrewv127:

that's so awesome that you're 17 (like me) and like the cure! no guys i know like (or admit) to liking them. : ) you going to any shows?

    ReplyDelete
  126. andrew, if they screw up the tracklisting for the new album, leaving off the best songs, i will renounce my cure fandom and start stalking clay aiken.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Are thinking that maybe the last song of the main set will also be a new song? Should be, or?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Sadly no. I live in the UK and missed my chance. ONE show for us UK fans from a UK band. Not right really?

I'm soooo moving to the states. lol

    ReplyDelete
  129. jpx, let her go. LET HER GO! she wished 'gone' on me, man. GONE. for chrissakes.

    ReplyDelete
  130. In the Boston interview, Bob said he still had not set a tracklist...It would be like him to tour the" hits" and then put out the "deeper"tracklist...

    ReplyDelete
  131. Bernie - maybe, or maybe Bloodflowers ?

    ReplyDelete
  132. hey rob, I'm just about 41 and we'll be at the Vancouver show too..

    1989 was THE era :) :).

    ReplyDelete
  133. jpx, yes! robert has screwed up the tracklisting too many damn times. the self-titled should have left off us or them and alt.end and taking off and included (on all versions - making it ONE version instead of 20,000) TGB, Fake, GN, YGIF, and This Morning. Those songs are awesome and really would have strengthened the album immensely. but no, he had to go and dumbly fuck it up. he's a tracklisting DORK.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Sofia,it could've been worse, it could've been Heroin Face!

    ReplyDelete
  135. haha nice! maybe after the record drops they'll play a few promotional shows in the UK!

but if you do come to the US virginia's mighty nice. : )

    ReplyDelete
  136. i'll be 34 in november. man! it seems like just the other day i was ditching 4th period english clash to run over to sam goody to pick up disintegration. sure i didn't have much going on back then, but that was still one of the most defining moments of my life. seriously. srsly. srs. s.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Clockwise, it was really annoying trying to get all the different cuts from that album!

    ReplyDelete
  138. you know, i'm glad they still play EOTW because it's a rad song, but they really do a lousy version of it live. they do it too fast. the song is well paced on the album and i think they do it a disservice by speeding through it, and robert kind of just mumbles the words.

    ReplyDelete
  139. A question for Craig - Did I hear correctly at some stage that when "Mixed Up" is re-released it will contain a new disc of newer up to date remixes of the tracks?

Oh a new song! Damn it! can someone just invent teleporting already!

Finally got 'The Only One' today! 'NY Trip' is fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  140. I still haven't heard New York Trip!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Fingers crossed for a new song or Bloodflowers as the ending.

I totally can't focus on my work right now.

    ReplyDelete
  142. sofia: hmf. if you can't appreciate the gem that is gone, then i've nothing more to say to you!

actually, i can see why people don't like it. i used to hate it, but something happened and i got bitten by the wms bug!

    ReplyDelete
  143. 'Taking Off' should stay, but could live without 'Alt','Never' & 'Us or Them'

but add in 'YGIF' ugh...that song is terrible...but thats just one opinion of many!

The vinyl version is so much better with 'truth' etc added into the listing!

    ReplyDelete
  144. I totally agree! I had to keep going up to Boston to get the alternate songs because stupid Rhode Island didn't have them =(

    ReplyDelete
  145. Alastair - yes, he said there will be a new version of Mixed Up. Not sure if he means as the bonus disc or as a separate release.

    ReplyDelete
  146. @Believer-Ko.

Yeah thanks for the tip. I'm actually banking on them doing a 30th anniversary tour of some sorts in late 2009. Funny we really haven't heard too much about their 2009 plans.

And If your ever in England, Northampton is mighty miserable lol.

    ReplyDelete
  147. full moon, I thought that you said that they played Piggy in the Mirror. I don't see that on the live setlist.

Oh, and everyone, take a look at the Wikipedia page for the 13th studio album when you get the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Thanks Craig! I know I will be slated for saying it, but I still don't mind aspects of 'Mixed Up'

I wish the remasters would be confirmed soon...I really want to hear a good quality mix of 'Lost Wishes'

    ReplyDelete
  149. alright. i'm looking at everyone's profile and i'm going to rate you from 1-10. if you look like a member of the scooby doo gang you get a -1 ;p
    just kidding jpx!

i'm so fidgety about this new song. the station isn't really going to broadcast it, are they...i can't take this anymore! :@

    ReplyDelete
  150. alastair: i like YGIF, but the mix is AWFUL! i honestly think the ST album would have been better with a more polished mix.

jpx: i like that you like KISS and Judas Priest! LOL. I actually like JP, but KISS? gotta love it! :-)

  151. andrew:

yes! that would be great. i just hope it isn't a festival thing. they never play long. i went to one on 04 in D.C. and the setlist was such a letdown.

but an all out 30th anniversary tour would be awesome! i just hope they mix up the setlist a little but. i'd love to hear some WIld Mood Swings stuff. i don't know how poeple hate it so much. it's fun!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Shawn - no they didn't play Piggy. He/she was just wishing for it.

    ReplyDelete
  153. clockwise, i actually do not entirely dislike wms! i love the b-sides. it has it's moments. club america and numb just piss me off forever though.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Lovesong can smooch my derriere! And TWIT... eh.

Play some Loudest Sound, why doncha, if yer lookin' to play lush ballads! Or hey, here's an idea - Funeral Party! How's that for a mopey dirge!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Clockwise, I'm so embarrassed!

Shawn, thanks for the Wikipedia tip, here's a quote, "Some of the songs on the album were pulled out from earlier album sessions. An example is "Sleep When I'm Dead" from The Head on the Door recordings, and "A Boy I Never Knew", a re-recording of an unreleased song from The Cure.
On tour booklets, the title of the album was suggested to be "4:13", which corresponds to the fact that the band is a quartet for the first time since 1990's Mixed Up album, and that it is their 13th album. "Thirteen" has also been implied, since the single mixes of the A-side's being released will be reffered to as "Mix 13"s instead of "single version"s, in addition to the theme of 13 in release dates. However, "Thirteen" has never been confirmed as the album's title."

  156. My wife hates The Cure - I can't listen to them aloud around the house!
    Going to concert by myself.

    I am 38, and have been a fan since I was 16.

Love BF, The Top, 17 Seconds, Pornography, Disintegration.

  157. Clockwise, I would LOVE to hear Funeral Party live. I've told everyone in my life that I want that played at my funeral on a repeated loop =)

    ReplyDelete
  161. msp000, you just named my favorite 5 Cure albums.

    ReplyDelete
  162. jpx, I mentioned it because I'm the one who made the edit for when Sleep When I'm Dead was first played, and added Underneath the Stars.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Yeah I love Wild Mood Swings too. Its a great album to listen to this time of year. Very Spring/Summer like.

If they did do a 30th anniversary tour I would love them to play 3-4 tracks from every album. That would be sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  164. LOL, jpx. That's what you get for making your profile public! I mean hey, I like JOURNEY for chrissakes. Well, okay, early Journey. But STILL.

KISS, though - that's great. You really like men in make-up, huh? Maybe Robert shoulda joined KISS. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  165. It seems like they cut the main set? Am I wrong? Maybe to play a 4 encore?
    BTW i`m 38.

    ReplyDelete
  166. JPX - Other than that she is a lovely person.

I used to think the same think about "The Funeral Party"

    ReplyDelete
  167. Shawn, were you at the Boston show?

Sofia, it is indeed Archie =)

    ReplyDelete
  168. jpx: funeral party rules. used to hate it, but faith is just too awesome all around. perhaps my fave cure song is holy hour. dammit it's awesome. i could just weep.

faith is my third fave album, but i really think it's the cure's best.

    ReplyDelete
  169. yes! i was listening to Return earlier today actually. it's really an awesome song.

and that would be my DREAM cure concert. some songs from each albut. so perfect.

are you guys still in school over there in the UK?

    ReplyDelete
  170. bernie, I'm thinking that they're just changing the sequence of the songs for a bit...which is a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Clockwise, I love a good stage show and KISS puts on the best. I mean, Gene flies to the ceiling, Ace shoots rockets out of his guitar, etc. They're silly but a blast live! Have you heard the new Judas Priest song?

this reminds of the Einar from iceland days...

    May 19, 2008 8:27 PM

that was a real trip, most people wouldn't even consider that Einar was Robert, but he gave it up when he did that BBC interview during the greatest hits promotion.

  173. lullaby - excuse me while i projectile vomit.

    ReplyDelete
  174. jpx, no, I wasn't, but I added it to the Wikipedia entry right after it was played. Oh, and bernie, what the heck are you talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  175. JPX - Kiss was my first concert in 1977. I was 8 years old and on the guest list! : )

    ReplyDelete
  176. jpx, I meant that I added the part about when it was played.

    ReplyDelete
  177. wow---I see an old-timer pattern emerging. I'm 38...been listening since highschool...

Would love to see "Like Cockatoos" emerge at some point this tour. The played it at the Fairfax show during the Swing Tour, also caught it at least once on the Dream Tour. Great some live.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Craig, was that the Dynasty tour? I'm seething with jealousy. I've seen every tour since Animalize. You saw them at their peak, cool man!

    ReplyDelete
  179. jpx: i did hear the new JP song a few months back, i think... i honestly don't listen to them much anymore, but i remember their music fondly and still would rock out to them. but i only have their music on tape and it's all scratched and shit. i like ac/dc a lot, though - but JP is prolly better musically. actually ac/dc lost the plot a while ago. but back in black and the bon scott stuff can't be beat! is rob halford still with JP? i think terri gross did an interview with him a few months ago.

  180. The UK school system is a little different. If I remember correctly you guys finish high school at 18? We finish at 16 then have the option to go to college or work and then to University.

Our University is the same as your college I believe.

  183. another pattern...Kiss: Alive, was the first album I ever purchased w/ my own money.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Clockwise, Halford is back with Priest as of the last album, Angel of Retribution. If you want to hear a classic-sounding tune from that album try Deal With the Devil. The new album is a double and it's 90 minutes long. It'll be out next month. If you like The Cure and Priest we need to be dating rightnow =)

    ReplyDelete
  185. yeah that's how it works. but i'm a year ahead so i'm graduating on the 31st of may. (i turn 18 in december).
